  1. I think overall it would result in less total stress (since there's less overhead) since you're only executing some of the overall queries (user's info and some of the other stuff that has to be retrieved every page) once, so while a single large page would take less total time to execute than multiple smaller ones, it wouldn't be broken up like the smaller queries would be. So basically it would appear slower if someone was trying to access a page at the same time as someone trying to get a 100 post page.
  2. Whether or not it's an in-box option, I'm sure it can at least be modded. But it's probably a low-priority issue and won't happen for some time.
  3. Mods can change topic titles, and I'm assuming it just needs to be figured out how to give that permission to SP mods in SP, or it's just such a low priority right now that it hasn't been done yet.
  4. Go to the processes tab and enable the column for CPU usage, and see what's actually taking up that CPU. What kind of virus/spyware protection are you running? If it's Norton Anything then that'll consume large amounts of CPU at regular intervals, and some other programs also do periodic scans.
  5. Civ4 is my game of choice. Mostly because I don't have room to install anything else. Are there any good TRPGs out there for PC? Actually, forget good, just any TRPGs for PC at all? I want something I can play offline in small doses. I'm all emulatored out for now, after playing various Sonic games for the last 3 weeks.
  6. hell yes, he is often "Away" on instant messanger He's working like 100 hours a week to save up to go back to college, so I don't think we're gonna see him anytime soon.
  7. Me too. I also love the new remix from Sephire, so who the album should be good with the song from Xerol in the make and I don't know about the other remixers/artists. Anyway, Bump It's looking like this is gonna end up being an EP. I haven't been able to get in touch with Suzu, so I dunno what's up with his track, and mine has kinda hit a brick wall. So anyway...tracks semi-due tomorrow.
  8. There's some listed here, although I'm sure it's far from complete (nothing's been seriously updated since about 4 months ago, so nothing newer is on there).
  9. I'm still working, I dunno about everyone else. There's a week left to get tracks in.
  10. A photo would help. Missing colors usually indicate a loose or bad cable.
  11. I just prefer using a mousepad all the time anyway, since I'm just used to it.
  12. Thanks. The list is just a ripped list from the web.archive.org page. I don't know how many rounds were held exactly. There were 20, but 19 and 20 (my first remix attempt ever) never got results. There were a whole round of sigs about it.
  13. Bit late now, but I just did some poking around the USPS website, and anything sent in a normal letter-size envelope shouldn't be more than 1/4" thick. http://pe.usps.com/text/dmm100/what.htm
  14. I've got a wip up, the instrumentation's not complete, and I've got another 4-5 minutes of material to add still. http://h.xerol.org/f/1fdfsd.mp3
  15. What kind of speeds are you getting? I'm stuck at 4k/s, which means it's going to take 170 hours to finish at the current rate.
  16. If it fits, it'll get in. InkScape is awesome.
  17. The idea came up last night, after a winter-themed compo on #soundtempest. The idea: Get a bunch of people together and put together an album in time for Christmas. Everyone does a track or two, and we get album art together and have it all ready to give out as gifts for the holidays. Everyone's responsible for their own track, and as long as you've got something complete, it'll get on. Any style's fine, as long as it fits some kind of winter or holiday theme. The deadline is December 20; this gives me time to get the back cover art together, as well as get everything uploaded and have it distributed by the weekend before Christmas. Everyone prints their own copies; I'll provide directions for those less savvy with printers. FLAC is preferred for the format, although if you don't have that kind of upstream, you can do high-bitrate MP3 or OGG. Distribution will happen in two ways - a FLAC download, which you'll have to convert to WAV and burn manually, and a torrent of an ISO of the final product. Obviously we can't go beyond the normal constraints of a CD, so if we go beyond 74 minutes (some of my family still have older players that won't do 80 minute burns, and I'm sure other people will too) we can either go to two discs or cut some stuff, and I'd rather not cut anything. I'd prefer these to be originals, although if you want to incorporate part of a game theme into it that's fine too. We're not selling this or anything, just putting something together as a gift. I've done this with my own music for a few years, and it's always been a hit with my aunt and cousins, but they've been short and not really themed. This is a chance to put together a nice homemade gift that wasn't done in pottery class. Reply or AIM me if you have any questions. Current Artists: -Xerol (1 track) WIP: http://h.xerol.org/f/1fdfsd.mp3 -Suzumebachi (1 track) -Garian (1 track) -Julio Jose (2 tracks) Possible: -soc -Hemophiliac -sephfire
  18. They do sell smaller ones, you could probably get a 50-pack for a couple of bucks (probably not much more than regular envelopes would've cost). Or CD-mailers, although those are a bit big and more expensive.
  19. Anyone want to help me finish the original campaign? I've had the game 18 months now and still haven't done it. I've got time tomorrow night.
  20. Anyone want to help me with Divinity Coast later today? 3pmish.
  21. Okay, fine, I'll play again. It's been so long that I've forgot my main character's name. I'll post it once I'm finished patching. Edit: Conan McBrien. I'm up to Divinity Coast, haven't tried the mission yet.
  22. DotM was disbanded a WHILE ago. I stopped playing because all the time I had available to play was spent updating, then I managed to play for 10 minutes, and the next time I wanted to play, it wanted HOURS of updates again.
  23. It's a self-imposed challenge, sort of like a FF7 no-materia game I guess, although that's much more restrictive. (I guess the equivalant would be no licence board, but that's more equivalant to an FFX no-anything challenge.) Thinking about it, it's probably closer to one of the FFT challenges, like "all squires" or "Ramza only". I wouldn't even think about trying it until I've beat the game once or twice though. And no licence board would be a VERY interesting challenge - I'm guessing you'd probably want to just level up a lot, and make sure you've got plenty of usable items. Having only two gambit slots would make things more difficult, unless you used "Wait" mode (I don't, it's just more fun that way I think).
  24. This just gave me an idea - give Bender's voice to Wakka (and change some of the dialogue to match). Suddenly FFX becomes the greatest game ever.
  25. Myspace is just a marketing tool masquerading as a 'social networking' site. Traffic is traffic, and if it gets more listeners (and votes) then it's usually a good thing. If you're worried about it looking like crap, keep in mind they let you style it up yourself. While this usually results in complete crap most of the time, have you seen Rama's page? And just while we're on the subject, my car still needs friends! http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=129145975
