  1. This seems like a pretty pointless debate, since we won't know until the game comes out anyway.
  2. Most, not all. I guess the option would've been nice, but wouldn't it conflict with cutscenes and what not? I mean, when drawing the master sword, they'd have to alter the cutscene... I guess an option would be doable and good. Wikipedia is wrong. Every single Link was intended to be left-handed. The only time Link isn't left-handed is due to sprite-flipping in LoZ, LttP, and the handheld games. Other than that, Link is always a lefty. Uhh... So he's not a lefty in those game right? He's at least ambidexter. My point is that Link, as a character, does not have the fact that he's a lefty or righty defined. He's left-handed when facing three of the four cardinal directions. The only time he isn't is when he's facing east due to sprite flipping issues. Miyamoto is a lefty, and rumors are out there (I haven't been able to find anything concrete yet) that Link's name comes from linkshandig, German for left-handed. I'm pretty sure he's intended to be left-handed no matter what. My major complaint isn't that he's right-handed in Twilight Princess - that just makes sense for the mostly right-handed population. My problem is that there's no option to change him back to a lefty. This makes sense since The Legend of Zelda was inspired by Miyamoto's childhood. So I don't doubt that he was intentionally left-handed because he is too. And here i was thinking that he got his name because he was the link between you and the world, since Link isn't the hero. The player is. Just a rumor, nothing confirmed. But I like where this thread is going. Might I mention that Tatl and Tael's names combined are also a pun? WHOAH! ARE YOU SERIOUS?!? THAT JUST TOTALLY ROCKED MY WORLD! On a more serious note, lots of series' have these little quirks which remain consistent through the series. Not quite a running gag, not quite a story element, not quite anything important, yet I always find they add something to the series when you recognize them. Does Link have to be left-handed? No. It makes no difference. But he's Link. Link is left-handed. It's what we're used to, and those of us who noticed that he's always left handed I'm sure took some small pride in noticing this detail. I'm not going to write hate mail to nintendo about it, but it is sort of dissappointing that they've abandoned this quirk.
  3. Hey, anybody notice that roll dodges appear to be a hell of a lot faster in this one? Like, as fast as a wavedash would be.
  4. The more I watch that trailer, the better pit looks. Fast movement, fast attacks, multiple high double jumps.
  5. Most, not all. I guess the option would've been nice, but wouldn't it conflict with cutscenes and what not? I mean, when drawing the master sword, they'd have to alter the cutscene... I guess an option would be doable and good. Doesn't Links shield in "Link to the Past" always face Death Mountain? Think i read that years ago. If so the case, then surely hed have to wield his sword on the right arm at one point. Edit: No, he always has his sword in his left hand.
  6. Wow, thanks. Definitely gonna give this article a read through.
  7. I'd imagine all the characters are being re-balanced, so all those highteir characters are probably going to be downgraded, low tiers will be upgraded. My guess. seems logical. What they should do is upgrade the lowtier characters without downgrading the hightier ones. Imagine a game with 30 characters who are all as good as fox, marth, or shiek?
  8. Link has always been left handed in past games. And he definitely appears to be right-handed in this one.
  9. Ya rly. I wouldn't mind them making his upsmash a bit less powerfull, but otherwise I really don't think they should change fox much if at all. Kirby really does need to be denerfed.
  10. How do you know it lacks this option? It is sort of wierd that Link is right-handed in this one, but I guess that makes more sense for right-handed players.
  11. The reason I want to be able to record in stereo is for solo acoustic pieces; mono + doubling is great when the guitar is part of a larger mix, but when it's just the guitar, I find I always prefer stereo recordings. Has anybody tried these? EDIT: actually, after a bit more research, I'm looking at a matched pair of Rode NT1As and a Studio Projects VTB1 preamp. Thoughts? EDIT 2: Wait, the VTB1 only has one input/output, doesn't it? So I couldn't record in stereo with it. Is there any reason I shouldn't just plug a pair of NT1As directly into my mixer?
  12. Pit actually looks like a pretty sweet character from what few shots there were of him. Fast runner, multiple double-jumps (and they're big, double jumps, not wimpy floats like kirby or jigglypuff), fast attacks. I hope they de-nerf kirby; he was awesome in original smash, and sucked in melee. As for fox, they better not nerf him, or I'll be pissed.
  13. The closet is more or less a dead room as far as reverb goes.
  14. I'm looking to upgrade my live recording setup. Right now, the setup consists of an SM57. Which is alright, but doesn't capture the pristine beauty of an acoustic guitar (or a low whistle) the way I've heard it captured in some recordings. So I'd like advice on what mics I should get, how they should be placed, etc. I want to be able to record in stereo. My computer is fairly loud, so I record in my closet, which cuts off most of the noise. My SM57 doesn't pick up any noticeable computer hum, but I imagine an improperly positioned condenser might. But then, I have very little experience recording with condensers, so I'll be happy to hear any advice you can give me. Main thing I'm looking for is mic reccomendations. I'd prefer not to spend more than $600.
  15. It's impossible for an optimist to be pleasantly surprised
  16. Cool. I might even have a rough recording by this afternoon. This very well may end up being my first completely solo remix. EDIT: also, add me to the instrumentalist list. I play guitars, piano, and irish whistles.
  17. I've got an idea for "The Treasure Which Cannot be Stolen" Sign me up tentatively. It'll be a celtic, mostly acoustic guitar arrangement. Maybe even solo acoustic guitar.
  18. Fixed. I thought he covered Wing Cap? I stand corrected.
  19. Bowser is Pissed? the sourcetune for that mix is about five seconds long. Victory Festival? About twelve. Fleeting ecstacy? About two. If mixers want to arrange short tunes, let them. Anyway, it looks like I"m not heading off to tour with cirque just yet, so count me in if this project gets off the ground.
  20. Fox is my best, though I also occasionally play as Doc or Luigi. I'm thinking about trying to brush up on my Luigi skills, since people are always caught by surprise and don't know how to deal with my Luigi.
