  1. After my first competition (in january), I sorta slacked off for awhile. A couple weeks ago, however, the date of the qualifiers for the National Gymnastics Championships was announced, and I've been training like crazy since then. I've mostly been focusing on getting my endurance up; my floor routine consists of five tumbling passes (and I'd like to add a sixth eventually), but after the fourth pass I'm always dead tired. And the qualifying meet is in Colorado Springs, at 5000 ft of elevation.
  2. Also: I still think you should call it "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Destruction"
  3. Well, the project was started before this thread was started. Still.... that's bizzarre. If I recall correctly, tepid was still sending me unfinished WIPs well after that...
  4. I've been thinking for awhile that something like this could work great for pikmin. A whole post-apocalyptic thing would really explain a lot with that game.
  5. Erm... note to remixers on the project; I would prefer that you ask me and Wes first if you want to release your track elsewhere. Or at the very least, let us know you're going to do so...
  6. I've heard Andy talking about this, but somehow missed this thread up to now. Sounds like exactly the drum kit I've been looking for for ages! I especially love that vintage snare sound. Any idea what sort of price range we'd be looking at? I'd love to get this if I can afford it...
  7. I think it would be great to have something like that as a side-nugget which is unnecessary to the actual game -- sort of like how you cna learn the history of each planet you go to in Metroid Prime 3. Also: AAAAAAARRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH$#*^&*@&$*@#$*&@#^$*
  8. Wrong. The limit is 6 MB, period. If it's 6MB and one byte, it's over the limit. Fortunately, this is easily fixable with VBR. As for whether the mix is OCR-ready.... I'm really on the fence here. I wouldn't be shocked if it got accepted, I wouldn't be shocked if it didn't; I'd say the latter is a little more likely, though. Were I a judge, here are the grounds on which I might be inclined to reject it: while there is a lot of variation in the melodies, some very creative use of other themes, etc, it is still rythmically and structurally very similar to the original mineshaft theme. However, I think it's reached the point where it's worth submitting. If it makes the cut, great! If not, the judges thread will likely be very useful in improving the track. Good luck!
  9. I don't know my Zelda plotlines as well as I used to, but let's see here... The paradox implied by the ending of Ocarina of Time bothered me back when I first played it. The split timeline theory would make sense, if only because the Cel-shaded games don't make any sense at all as canon to a single timeline. I believe you're right about Majora's Mask; it is never really indicated that Link returns to Hyrule. I'll have to give it some thought, and I may have to go back and play through the ending of a couple of games while I'm at it.
  10. A non-update update: We have final cuts for about 2/3 of the project. We haven't started on the album art or website; we'll probably save those for the very end. Things have slowed down a bit on my end, largely due to my being extremely busy with gym-related stuff (mostly training in preparation to try to qualify for the national gymnastics championships), however progress has certainly not stopped, and we're still working to get this done.
  11. Love the synths, love the feel of the arrangement, good tone on the rythm guitars. Lead guitars feel a bit thin; would have really benefited from a delay, or something else that could liven up the sound. Nevertheless, it's a relatively minor complaint, and they are well-played. The organ is an excellent touch; subtle, but beautiful, and really adds a lot to the mix.
  12. HOLY FUCK ONE OF MY FAVORITE THEMES EVER REMIXED BY ONE OF MY FAVORITE REMIXERS EVER *downloads with gusto* 1:22 seems a bit out of place. Otherwise I love it!
  13. Ok, here's my reccomendation. Export from audacity as a .wav. Then use razorlame to encode it to mp3. It's much more flexible in its options. What you want is VBR encoding. Experiment a bit with the settings to see what works best within the filesize limit.
  14. What qualifications are you looking for in artists? Is it simply anybody who's made money from their music? I haven't released any actual albums or anything like that, but make some money here and there by writing music for gymnastics routines -- are you interested in hearing from me on this?
  15. Variable bitrate encoding (simply called "VBR') in most programs. What are you using to encode it to mp3 anyway?
  16. Listening. Percussion is a bit weak, and the fills sorta feel like they're comming in at the wrong time. Bass is cool, but needs some more variation. I like the synth. By the way, if you call this "A Funny Thing Happenned on the Way to Distruction," you will be my hero.
