  1. Absolutely true, though I'll dissagree with the notion that you can attain you maximum flexibility in 1-2 months. You can no more attain your maximum level of flexibility in 2 months than you can attain your maximum level of strength in 2 months. The thing to keep in mind while stretching: don't overdo it. You want to hold a stretch right around the threshhold of pain, but don't push far past it. Stretch far enough that it's just barely starting to hurt, and you'll generally get the best results. I'll post some of my favorite stretches later.
  2. All the way or almost all the way to one side. As for percussion, it's hard to say specifically; zircon did a really good guide on percussion awhile back, though, you might check that out: http://www.zirconstudios.com/tutorial1.php Here's the short version: add some variance in velocity, and make sure the drums aren't playing exactly the same thing every measure; throw in some minor variances in the pattern.
  3. Won't work; you gotta record it twice. If you take identical recordings and pan them hard to both sides, it will just sound like one centered recording. If you take two very similar recordings, however, the inherent differences between the two make the sound much richer.
  4. Some cool stuff here! Very nice rythm guitar work. The biggest problem is everything's centered, so everything is really indistinct. Here's what I'd do: Double-record the rythm guitars, and pan one hard left and the other hard right. This is a great way to beef up the rythm while also moving it out of the way so it doesn't croud out the leads. Move the flute slightly to one side and the strings slightly to the other. Vary up the percussion. It's really repetetive (though I like the samples used -- is that the ken ardency kit, or something else?). Flute-ish thing sounds fake, but I actually really like it. It sounds fake in a way that completely works in this context, and I honestly wouldn't change it.
  5. *hands up* What time are we meeting and where? I still need to buy my bus ticket.
  6. SO my endurance has definitely been getting better, and I've been steadily adding difficulty to my floor routine. I'll try to post a video in the near future.
  7. Working on it. Got about half the vocals re-recorded, so I need to finish those up and redo the guitar solo.
  8. http://www.geoffreytaucer.com/randomstuff/numbdreamers.mp3 It's actually kinda cool how LITTLE work this took.
  9. http://www.geoffreytaucer.com/randomstuff/numbdreamers.mp3 ?
  10. Awesome. I'll need to look into train/bus schedules to get up there from Raleigh, but I'm probably in. Brandon, would you be able to take one additional passenger? One of my older students may be interested in comming.
  11. This is true when he's facing left or right, but when he's facing up or down, he's always had his sword in his left hand, all the way back to the original on NES
  12. There is hardly a single detail about this that isn't absolutely hilarious. Are we getting punk'd here?
  13. God damn this looks so awesome. But do I really want to buy a PS3 for just one game?
  14. Ok, if I can get a ride from Baltimore to Frederick after the concert (has to be that night, not the next morning), I might be able to come. Otherwise I can't make it.
  15. I'm going to be on my way up to PA, and it's possible (though unlikely) that I may be able to convince the rest of the crew I'll be travelling with to stop for the night somewhere near baltimore, meaning I MIGHT be able to come to this.
  16. Different type of biased from that being discussed. When we say there's no bias or favoritism, we mean that well-known remixers don't automatically get posted just because they're well known.
  17. Tune your guitar and back off a bit on the chorus effect.
  18. Ooh, one of my favorite vg tunes of all time. This is... well, it's pretty much a straight up cover, with a couple of wrong notes on the lead guitar. And to clarify, there's nothing wrong with straight up covers, especially when the source is as unbelievably awesome as this, but keep in mind you'll need a lot more interperetation if you want this mix to get past the judges. Production is a bit wierd; the biggest issue is that the bass has far too much presence, making the leads weak by comparison.
  19. Completely true. And completely obvious, if you look at recent judges decisions; just looking at the first page, there are rejected mixes by such proven artists as halcyon and sixto.
  20. If you think the new mixes don't have the same soul as the old ones, just listen to it on a shitty soundcard and all will be fine.
  21. Yes, very hard. I have a pretty dark sense of humor.
