I will of course be watching gymnastics closely. Men's gymnastics won't be particularly suspenseful, at least not in the team competition. China will win the Team Gold. Chen Yibing will win Gold on rings, Xiao Qin on pommel horse, and Li Xiaopeng on p-bars. Floor, highbar, and vault are still up in the air, I guess. The women's side, however, will probably be very close, between China and the US.

Aside from an amazing vault workout on tuesday, this hasn't been a very good week for me. Haven't been getting enough sleep, and my training has suffered as a result. I'm taking the day off tomorrow to try to catch up on all the sleep I've missed. EDIT: Check this out. Chen Yibing's new rings routine. His first skill is un-fucking-believable. PNKHe4UkaMc

Looking for gymnastics routine music
Geoffrey Taucer replied to Geoffrey Taucer's topic in General Discussion
We're talking about girls between 7 and 9 years old. Of course cutesy is done a lot. These are all far too mature for any of my girls. Some of these would work well for a college gymnast, but the oldest girl I need routine music for right now is 12. These aren't quite energetic enough for a routine. They would work well for dance, but not for tumbling. Been awhile since I've heard any of these. I'll take a look. Audio fidelity: the first three are two mellow, but I'll run Rikku's theme by the other coaches. Might be a little too fast-paced, but we'll see what everybody else thinks. -
It's that time of year again, the time when I need to find music for my girls to do their floor routines to. I'll take suggestions from you guys if you have them, and if I end up using music that you wrote/arranged, I'll do my best to get a video of the routine and send it your way. One main requirement: NO VOCALS. None at all. Not even oohs and aahs. Here's what I'm looking for: 1. Orchestral + electronic beat. Think along the lines of the theme from MGS. 2. Cute, bouncy music. Think Marry Poppins (in fact if you can tell me where to find non-vocals versions of the music from mary poppins, that would be great) 3. Disney movie music, or music in that style. And I mean old disney, not shitty hannah montanna shitty disney pop. Aladdin, Jungle Book, etc. If anybody can tell me where to find non-vocal versions of disney music (that isn't just a shitty midi render), I would greatly appreciate it.

I did, but it was on a bad day, so it didn't look as good as I'd like it to. I'm going to film again sometime soon, and hopefully get a good clean routine where I hit all the strength holds.

I'll be sharing a room with ToN. Haven't decided yet if we're going to add anybody else.

AHAHAHAAAAAAAA!!!! Had an amazing vault workout this morning; for the first time, I STUCK a couple of Tsukahara double-backs. I've done them before, but always landed on my face, but today I stuck two of them on my feet. Then, after taking a break, started working on yurchenkos -- a fairly new vault for me -- and I'm making HUGE progress on those. My hope is to eventually be able to twist the yurchenko, preferably at least a doublefull. Right now, I'm basically feeling completely invincible, which means I should probably call it a day before I do something idiotic. For reference, here's a Tsuk double back: qXw2vQLXUGw And here's a Yurchenko: qDWenQcyOV0

Toejammin' Dunno kokoro that well, but I'd love to do just about anything from Xenogears, Chrono Cross, or Chrono Trigger. It would be great if we could throw together a full celtic ensemble. (I'm hoping Darangen, Level 99, and Luiza will all show up again this year, so we can do more acoustic jammin' like the last couple years.)

Having a pretty decent last couple of days. Last week, I couldn't hit planches to save my life, and now all of a sudden my planches are amazing. Did a couple of decent rings routines today (actually held my maltese -- it was a little high, but I definitely held it), and my dismounts seem to be getting better (wish I had rings over a pit at my gym -- that would make things much easier). Did some ab and back work, which I need to do more of; I've been spending almost all my time on arms and shoulders, and not enough on core strength.

I will be bringing at least one, possibly two electric guitars (both off-limits for use when I'm not in the room). Probably bring irish whistles, but I'll most likely carry those with me rather than leave them at jamspace. I also may bring a wah-wah pedal, a tweak fuzz pedal, and a modded tubescreamer (the tweak fuzz can be public, but the rest I don't want anybody using while I'm not there) SO, I say we jam to toejam and earl and magus again. And perhaps mystic cave from sonic 2 as well (that song makes me wish I played bass)

Where exactly do you want him?

I just saw it yesterday, and I thought it was absolutely brilliant. I think by far the best part was the social/political comentary, and the way it addressed the issues it brought up. While tons of movies have social and political comentary, the Dark Night is unique in that it attacks both sides of the issues it brings up, rather than trying to drive home one specific side of the issue. It shows the incredible power of hope, with two ships full of people potentially sacrificing themselves by not blowing the other up, while at the exact same time showing that even the greatest and purest of white knights can be corrupted. It pointedly shows us just how effective domestic surveillance can be at catching criminals, but just as pointedly shows us that it is unethical and immoral for anybody to have that sort of power. It presents us with a mob of treacherous street thugs who have no rules, no loyalty, not a shred of decency, yet also presents us with a ship full of convicted murderers who collectively choose to sacrifice themselves rather than blow up a ship full of civilians. It is simultaneously hopefull and cynical, and goes to great lengths to show us both the height of human decency and the depths of dispair and treachery. This movie is, in my opinion, a work of absolute genius.

Donkey Kong Country 2 'Klomp's Romp'
Geoffrey Taucer replied to Mithius's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
Right off the bat, I love the idea. You captured the style nicely. Production has a bit of room for improvement, though it's not too bad on the whole. Violin could use a bit less reverb. Accordion sounds great. The sample sounds like a cheap one, but you made great use of it. Whatever that lead is comming in at 0:31 sounds quite meh. I think it's supposed to be a harmonica; if so, there have got to be better harmonica samples out there. Guitars and banjos sound great. Overall, the mix could use a bit of EQ to separate out the instruments and get rid of a bit of midrange mud. lol at the flute solo. Doesn't seem like it would fit, but it sounds pretty cool. And the brass sounds much better at this point. I'd say by far the biggest issue is the transitions. Namely, there are way to many of them and they're too jarring. A sort of crescendo + instrument change transition like you keep using here works great once or twice in a song; you use such a transition about every five seconds. You never give yourself a chance to get going. It seems like you don't take the time to develop any of the ideas, just show the idea briefly and then drop it and go onto the next thing. The violin comes in, and aside from having too much reverb, sounds pretty damn cool and I'm excited to see where you're going with it, but you don't go anywhere with it; you transition almost immediately to accordion. Then almost immediately to harmonica and brass. And so on and so fourth. Pick the three or four ideas you like best and develop them and make that your mix; right now it just sounds like a montage of ideas. As it is, it feels like you're trying to stuff too much action into too little time. Keep at it, though; I'd love to see this completed. We need more hillbilly mixes on OCR. -
So today wasn't as hardcore as I had planned, but oh well. There's always friday. Got a pretty decent workout today. Threw some tripple backs on trampoline (first time I've done so without a mat being thrown in on warm-up), did a little bit of rings strength, and did leg strength the likes of which I have not done in far too long.

My "Treasure which cannot be stolen" track is done.

Donkey Kong Country 2: Serious Monkey Business - History
Geoffrey Taucer replied to Geoffrey Taucer's topic in Projects
You should start your own WIP thread for this. You'll probably get a lot more feedback that way. If you start a thread for this track or post it in #ocrwip while I'm around, I'll give you a full critique. -
Did a decent amount of flexibility and maltese work today, but for the most part took it easy. I did much heavier cross strength yesterday than I've been doing, so my shoulders were pretty much fried today. Tomorrow will be a mega hardcore day. In the morning I'll be doing rings strength, trampoline, and perhaps some tumbling and vaulting. In the afternoon, I'm gonna try to do full competetive routines on all three of my events (I don't have a specific routine yet on floor, so I'll just try to do my five biggest tumbling passes in under 70 seconds -- the maximum time allowed for a routine). And then I'll do some more rings strength. I'm getting ever closer to getting my splits all the way down, but these last couple inches are proving to be a real battle.

Fat Princess = Fat Controversy?
Geoffrey Taucer replied to Malaki-LEGEND.sys's topic in General Discussion
I might just have to buy this game. -
Holy shit! How does one go about gaining entry into this business?

Got a pretty decent workout today. Did one rings routine minus the holds, did both of my vaults once, and went through all my hardest passes on floor (and landed two new moves I hadn't done before). Did a fair amount of strength and flexibility work as well.

I fully intend to jam once again to Toejam Jammin' and Magus's theme. And Toejam would definitely benefit from a good bassist (we didn't have anybody on bass last year)
