Legally? They're in a grey area. The remixers don't really own the rights to them, since they don't own the rights to the original song. Just make sure you credit the mixer, and preferably mention OCR, and nobody will mind, most likely. I thought it took like 70 years for a copyright to expire?

It's worth asking. Offer to give them contact info for people you'll be with; that's what I had to do with my parents the first time I went out to meet somebody from the internet (in this case joecam); my parents called joecam and talked to him, and after comming to the conclusion that he wasn't a rapist and ax-murderer, they let me go to meet him, and they've had no problem with me going to meet people from the internet ever since. Can't speak for anybody else, but you can give them my contact info if need be.

Here's the issue: what makes a guitar sound like a guitar has far less to do with tone than with dynamics. The world's best samples will sound like shit without the proper dynamics. Pitch bends, slides, fret squeaks, these are all the things that make acoustic guitars sound so wonderfully organic; it has astonishingly little to do with tone.

I can probably bring one.

Definitely should have called it "One Flew Over the Koopa's Nest." That complaint aside, this is one wicked awesome mix.

That ability to change just by adjusting how loud and hard you play is one of the reasons tube amps are so highly valued. There are some solid state amps tat can sort of fake it, but for the real thing, you need a real tube amp.

Conclusion: Shnab is fucking awesome. But is there anybody who didn't already know that?

I can't find a list of instruments for EW3. I'm leaning towards RA, but it does suck that it doesn't have a dulcimer or an accordion. Though perhaps I could get RA and then eventually get Gypsy to compliment it, but that's more $$ I don't currently have.

I'm thinking about buying an ethnic library, and right now the two main ones I'm looking at are Ethno World and QL RA. How do the two compare? Also, with ethno world, I can't tell if it comes with it's own sampler or if I'd have to buy kontakt/kompakt/whatever to use it; it doesn't seem to specify on that page. Anybody know?

The NCSU girl's gymnastics team has a meet march 9th at (I think) 8:00 pm. My kids will be doing a tumbling demo between the end of the meet and the beginning of the awards ceremony (probably around 9:00), and it's looking like I'm going to be doing some tumbling as well. I seem to remember a few people saying they go to NCSU, though I don't remember who; if anybody's interested, I'd be up for a small-scale meetup afterwards. Nothing big, just hang out, maybe get some pizza.
