  1. I respect your oninion on Other M. I played it all the way through, and I consider it a good game that could have been great if the nunchuk was available and Samus wasn't so submissive. Besides the swtiching/nunchuk issue and seeing Samus curl up like a baby, I was blown away. The action was intense, the controls (response-wise) were great, great graphics, plenty of opportunities to see Samus outside of her suit (and here I am complaining about her submissive role, what a hypocrite I am), and they added a lot of new twists to classic Metroid gameplay. Good, but not great. But hey, we all view the world through different eyes so one man's trash is another's treasure. Edit: And Higgs is awesome. I would not object to seeing his return. But no whiny Samus this time please!
  2. I am looking forward to seeing Zelda and Metroid in HD (as well as other series and possibly some new ones of course). I hope the Zelda series is completely reinvented. And I would love a darker style, not to say that I didn't like the past few installments or their styles. I would like to see something truly non-linear though. With that sense of "oh shit / what do I do" from the first few games. I think Nintendo will definitely step up the next Metroid. I wonder where they can take the series now. Will they retcon the bottle ship story? Clean it up a bit? What about the developer? Ninja? Retro? Who knows. And please....please bring us a console Fire Emblem....and market it. Because it's awesome.
  3. It's very good stuff. I've been into chiptune for years and personally this is one is probably my favorite already.
  4. I just downloaded it. I will put it on my mp3 player for my cardio session time allowed. Thanks. I have high hopes due the sheer amount of talent on here.
  5. I hear that one a lot: "You're not looking hard enough". It's actually true. I still find as much awesome music as I did back in the day. The problem today is that you have to really dig for it. You have to know where to look. Popular music, be it rock, rap, whatever...You could just turn to the rap station and get Coolio, you know, Bone Thugs, Wu Tang Clan, Fugees...I'm not even a rap fan and can tell you that 90's hip hop whoops the living crap out of most hip hop on the radio.and tv today(I will exclude Outkast there for sure). Rock? You could turn on the radio and instantly get Everclear, NIN, Foo Fighters, Nirvana, Stabbing Westward, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, etc., etc... Now you turn it on and get a slew of bands that sound like a combination of Creed and Nickelback and whatever WWE uses when their wrestlers come out. Pop? Even pop was better. You had Ace of Base, Eiffel 65, Aqua, No Doubt, TLC, to name a few..bubblegum stuff but I'm not a pop fan. Still way better in the 90's. And you also had weird new age stuff like Enya. 80's had its share of crap but still had some incredibly awesome stuff...but running out of time. Regardless, thank whatever powers be for the internet because we'd all be screwed.
  6. Yep. Genji glove, offering, the atma and illumina. It will tear Kefka up really quick.
  7. I love Shining Force. I have two as well and they both rule. Anway, I'm gonna go with the obvious one and say the original Sonic games once you get Super Sonic. Minus the final bosses you can pretty much rip right through everything. It's almost too much. The secret Street Fighter moves from the first two Mega Man X games were awesome as well, but you have to do it right. If you connect - BLAM - boss gets ripped to shreds. The only thing that sucks is how your life must be full. I guess they can't make the game that easy. Oh, and Ultima on FF6. Just give everyone Ultima and let 'em fight the dinosaurs with exp egg. Game over.
  8. Metroid: Zero Mission. I had heard that it was under-rated so I finally gave it a try. Almost needless to say, it was excellent, And I appreciate how they extended the game although it was very trying at the end. (highlight text for spoilers) But it was a pain in the ass, and actually pretty creepy as well. Not even being able to kill your enemies, only to delay them while you run around with a stun gun. On top of that you have no idea where you're going and there are more than a few dead ends. The reward was great. When you finally get your suit back, it's like "awesome" and a big relief but wow can Nintendo bring the pain when they try. It wasn't even near one of the hardest parts of a game that I've played. Quite hard, but not like one of those bullet-hell shooters or Ghosts and Goblins or something that's crazy all the way through. So do you know of any other games that are like this? I can't name any off of the top, but figured you guys might know a few games that just throw you into chaos out of nowhere or just totally execute a paradigm shift like that. You know, just for the hell of it. I ran a search but couldn't find anything so feel free to help make a list.
  9. Jax (and whoever else cares I know I'm a little late here) - I played Metroid: Other M all the way through, and consider it a potentially awesome game. It failed due to the controls. Putting down and pulling up that controller over and over again really sucked. If they just would've added a nunchuk I would've been fine. Making Samus submissive also threw cold water on me, and my lady was disappointed as well. Samus is a sexy character, and I won't object to seeing her without the armor, but they really misrepresented what many fans think to be her true character. Then again, it's still worth the 10 dollars at the bargain bin. The graphics, the difficulty, the music. Very well done. I am eager to see what Nintendo does next with the Metroid series beyond Metroid Blast (although I want to try that too). One more thing. Regardless of our varied opinions I hope that all you nerds out there have an awesome day.
  10. I needed this. Thank you. Oh man. Thank you. Edit: If this is from Capcom - apology accepted. The neighbors are going to hate me.
  11. Super Mario Bros 2. is an excellent action game, Mario or not (personally if it is made by Nintendo and says that it is a Mario game on the front cover and stars Mario characters it is a Mario game, end of story. Nintendo dictates what is Mario in what country, not fans. Zelda 2? Engaging, unique, weird, and under-appreciated just like the game above. Sure it has wonky controls and is frustrating as hell for the average gamer but it is a hardcore player's wet dream once you get on its level. I agree with you on the other ones. Double Dragon 5 sucked. I didn't like Actraiser 2 much either, but I'm not sure if its a truly awful game as it is playable if you're willing to die a million times. A lot of people say that Double Dragon 3 on nes is bad but I think it's a lot of fun if you master it, much like Street Fighter 2010, although the last level of that game was designed by Satan. A lot of people put down games because they are too hard for them to beat or because they are not what they expected. Double Dragon 5 truly sucked though. Total shit game hands down.
  12. I played this game a few weeks ago and it is incredible. It is a shame that they can't sale it as a licensed game, as they obviously probably won't ever be able to. I just ordered an SNES style pc controller and once it arrives I will make it an effort to beat this game. Keyboard just isn't my style. Again, one of the best action games I've played in years freeware or not.
  13. Yes. That's what I meant. He did some good stuff with Contra 4 too. Which I think just fits the game to a t.
  14. I don't think that the track in the original video was impressive by any means. I had just purchased the soundtrack (for a whopping dollar) and it figured that it could use some exposure. I searched this thread and then walah. Track 4 and 9 have been eating up space on my playlist lately.
  15. Have any of you listened to the soundtrack lately? The music has improved greatly. There are some sweet vocal tracks. Virt hasn't lost it. He probably had to cook up a demo really quickly. Beware of track 4. http://virt.bandcamp.com/album/double-dragon-neon
  16. Guys guys. It's all good in the hood. You guys should get some rum. Everybody sing koom-bay-yah or I'm going to post a picture of Tingle cosplay. And you do not want me to do that! I mean, we're all just a bunch of nerdy assholes right? You know what? I don't agree with 90 percent of what Brushfire says but he's probably a cool dude overall. Let's get along folks.
  17. I don't understand why people get all heated up about consoles. If you don't like it then don't buy it. Don't like it? That's fine. You don't even have to look at one if you don't want to. Some things are difficult to avoid, like bad music, bad food, bad air, traffic, bills, etc.. and they are worth complaining about. Going out of your way to bash (not criticize, but bash by ignoring anything positive about) a game console is pointless because you can avoid it by simply not going to the store, buying one, and then hooking it up to the TV at your house. Sure, it's okay to criticize a console, especially if you're a fan of the console maker and would like to see improvements. But if you hate Nintendo, and don't ever plan on buying anything they make, then why do you give a crap? * Imagine that you are in a gym full of people lifting weights. A guy comes in and says "Hey. Weightlifting is for fags. You should all get in a canoe instead!" Everybody looks at the guy and thinks "Dude. If that guy loves canoeing so much then why isn't he at the canoeing center like, on a river somewhere? I'm just trying to pump some iron here" Take it with a grain of salt, but c'mon. * because a Nintendo fan killed one of your family members when you were a small child, or you enjoy trolling
  18. I'm definitely wanting 3d this time as well. And regardless of the visual style I want a strong deviation from other games. Galaxy 1 and 2 were great, but it's time to turn the series on its head. A new Mother / Earthbound game or hell just a collection of Mother 1,2, and 3 would be a day one sell for me. Oh, and frikking Fire Emblem. Market that shit Nintendo. The Wii entry was great and nobody knew about it. Mario Bros movie sequel? Sure. Bob's a little old though. But I would see it.
  19. I would love this. I had hoped that Mario games would go in this direction for a long time. It won't ever happen but I would be very happy if Nintendo would take the plumber in this direction. Not to say I don't enjoy recent Mario games but c'mon. It would be creepy and intriguing, and simply awesome. They have the ability to do it now, so why not make something a bit darker and mystifying. Nintendo needs to innovate its own property more than anything.
  20. Launches. Are they ever NOT mediocre?
  21. Time will tell which one of you is right but I just have a hunch that people are going to be waiting in line for months like they did with the Wii release. People go gaga for tablets and once that thing appears on store shelves I think people will take notice.
  22. Everybody has the right to express their opinion about controls. "One man's trash is another person's treasure" someone once said. What works for one person may not work for you. I really like Punch Out's motion controls, but my friends preferred playing classic style. I was altogether a better player with classic controls yet I enjoy the game more with "waggle". To each his own, and Okami's controls did take some adjustment until I began to truly enjoy the game.
  23. Speaking of Mega Man, Capcom should be nice and put Mega Man Universe back into motion, or how about another arm on the series? What better way to put him at the front than a Wii U release? Yes, I am also supportive of an Okami 3. I rented Okami on Wii years ago and it was very fun to play. I will stand behind motion controls when they are implemented properly and I strongly believe they were with that release.
  24. The console is going to bomb. That is until Nintendo invents a peripheral that connects to your genitals and they release the long awaited "Wii Sex" which will skyrocket the company past Apple, at which time the two will merge and become the new world order. Trust me. I'm from the future so I know these things.
  25. All of a sudden I want one. The console appears to be shaping up really well. I would definitely go with the deluxe model if I were to get one. People are obsessed with tablet and touch screens. I'm starting to think that maybe Nintendo aren't crazy as we make them out to be but time will tell. They better deliver with their network and service.
