Wrong. This game is a shameless ripoff of Super Mario Bros.: http://www.ocremix.org/game/great-giana-sisters-c64/ While I'm not afraid to admit that Super Mario Bros. is an awesome game and one that I speedrun regularly, Sega was going out on their own when they created Sonic. It is an extremely different beast. The similarities exist with the collecting of rings, which may have very well been borrowed from Sonic, due to needing 100 of them to gain an extra credit and the chime that rings when a ring or coin is collected. Saying that the boss-thing is rip-off is ridiculous. Because the boss is at the end of the stage? No, and Mario wasn't the first game to do that either. By the way, there's a boss at the end of every Sonic stage, whereas Super Mario Bros. had a boss at the end of every fourth stage. Also, Super Mario 1 and 2 had flat land only. Sonic's land (on all games) is curved, loopty-looped and twisted. The enemies, the music, the graphics, and the play control are completely different. Mario throws fireballs. Sonic has a spin dash, and the spin dash was a first for Sonic. Plus, Sonic saved animals trapped inside of robots from an evil madman. Also, Sonic had mini-stages and emeralds that needed to be collected in order to assume the final form. Mario was based on defeating enemies and getting to the end without getting killed by a turtle or falling in a pit. During most Sonic stages, the idea is to keep momentum and not lose it. You also pointed out that the entire point of the game is collecting the rings. Wrong - You only need one to keep Sonic alive (excluding pits and being crushed). He didn't jump on turtles and save princesses. Also, I'm a big fan of both the Mario series and the Sonic series. Mario is my favorite, but Sonic is a different beast and has a flare that the Mario games can't provide. This is the same the other way around. Your baseless and simply incorrect comparison is likely based off of blatant fanboyism and the reason I'm upset is because you are being extremely arrogant. You know this.

You are a ******* retard. Edit: You know what? I'm just not going back to this thread for a while. There's been nothing but trolling for the last 3 pages, and I doubt it will get better for a while. There are too many 15 year olds on here and too many users who act like them. There's nothing wrong with a cracked post here and there but some of you people post just to get on the nerves of others, and aren't contributing a damn thing. Seriously, if you don't want to make a contribution or talk about something that we can agree on, then get out. Everyone can be a jerk sometimes, but some of you choose to team up and do it all at once. It's sophomoric and pathetic. So go to off top where that kind of stupidity is accepted, and let us who actually care about discussing Wii and Wii games enjoy ourselves. Same for the PS3 thread too. Leave them alone and grow the fuck up.

It's basically being trolled in as if it's the PS3 thread.

Chiptune metal band - Electro Static Discharge
Devyn replied to Spamtron's topic in General Discussion
The music is great and will probably remain in my MP3 player for a good while, but the vocals are so unclear and in the back that they sound like a crowd chanting from far away. It would be nice if the chip sounds were brought down to around the guitar's level too. In rock music, the vocals are usually the defining moment, so they should be a little more dominant in the mix. Edit: The music is f'n awesome. Please bring the vocals up front. I'm not trying to be a critic. I would love to shell out some dough for it. -
Yeah, in almost every game you run around collecting something - comic books, coins, rings, pieces of cheese, healing potions, rupees, extra lives, pieces of fruit. Also, yeah there's a boss at the end of the stage in hm, which games? Oh my heavens, just about every friggin' one! I THINK YOU JUST MADE ME HAD AN EPIPHANY. I'VE REALIZED THAT ALMOST EVERY GAME IN THE UNIVERSE IS RIPOFF OF MARIO. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ENLIGHTENING ME WITH YOUR FANTASTIC THEORY!

Oh give me a break, you two are being ridiculous. The Genesis Sonic games were superb. And the only similarity between the Mario and Sonic games are that they were both side scrolling games. Not a bit like Mario. That's just flat out bullshit.

I wouldn't buy any of the Sonic games. Get the Sonic Mega collection Plus for Gamecube. It has way more games (including Ristar!), the Genesis Sonic games (including the 3d blast one), several Gamegear games, and Ristar. It probably only cost 20 bucks by now - It's a much better deal. Anyway, it looks like the new Zelda zapper game is no joke (yesterday I thought it was fake): http://wii.ign.com/articles/819/819020p1.html

Dreamcast was OK. It had some fun games, but it was still a bit overhyped and the controller started to hurt after an hour of play. Anyway, I'd say the Genesis was Sega's grand achievement.

Oh my heavens, this is hilarious (okay, it's possible, but it looks like someone's getting bored to me) http://arstechnica.com/journals/thumbs.ars/2007/09/09/nintendo-announces-wii-zapper-pack-in-zelda-crossbow-training Looks like I was wrong people: The Zelda crossbow game is no joke. I'll buy it. http://wii.ign.com/articles/819/819020p1.html

Spoiler warning Kraid and Ridley come back to life for the 4000th time and merge to form Super Ultra Mega Kraidley Phazon-Enhanced Prime. THE HARDEST BOSS FIGHT I HAVE EVER HAD. If you get 95% of the items, Samus will strip into a bikini and sing music for her space marine comrades. You can use the screenshot tool during the ending too. /Spoilers

Good rap song. My favorite is Guile's emu song though.

Yeah, and once you stun them once with the nova beam you can zip around and fire a missile or another charged nova shot in his reverse side. Goodbye little metroid.
-
I agree. What an excellent game.

Slow down now, I haven't finished the machine yet. (Damn, what am I going to do now)

I'm going to travel forward in time to get the new Mario Kart. Does anyone want a copy?

I was there during those days. I actually got into a fist fight in middle school over a Nintendo/Sega argument. But those days are gone, and Sonic and Mario are appearing in the same game. You have to bury the hatchet sometime, but they were Nintendo's greatest competitor and provided something that Ninty, Sony or Microsoft couldn't.

Dear Sega and people who developed games for them: Thank you for Golden Axe series, Sonic series, a shitload of good RPGs, Ristar, Fantasy Zone series, Street of Rage series, and countless other games that are awesome. Please make another Fantasy Zone game too, or at least release all of them on your old rival's virtual console.

Well, I don't care about that, the music already rocks as is, but I do believe it will sound rad through a surround sound system. At least for a video game.
-
I do not understand.
-
Hamsters rock. I have one too. That thing is huge. We call him Chubby Cheeks
-
I'd like to hear a Swedish power metal band cover the Neverending Story Theme. That would be kinda cool. Oh wait... And Beatles covers are always sweet too.
-
Gerudo Valley theme oh snap.
-
That's so rad. Just think about all the damn themes. There might be just about every song from each franchise. It looks that way from the way the guy was talking. He said some songs wouldn't even be redone, which suggests that he's trying to cram everything in there rearranged or not.

Well, I'm getting my wifi back soon, so I have to trade some points with someone, that's the only way you can get those special tokens that unlock all the cool stuff, right? Edit: Just got to 75% last night. I have to get 100%! There is no alternative. Has anyone reached it yet, and do you have to get all of the scans?

The feather appeared in the original Mario Kart and made you jump for a brief moment. It was useful for dodging shells and taking shortcuts. By the way people, it is confirmed during E3 (from the many people who played the game) that you will be able to jump for a brief moment. Same for online, more players, and old-school tracks. It's in there. Doubt all you want, it's in there. Even Reggie let most of it go during the E3 conference.
