All I know is that game is super-special to me, and it's a Mario game to me. I begged for it when I was a little kid, I got it for Christmas, and it gave me more than I could've ever hoped for from the first Super Mario Bros. Who cares what it was before? Nintendo officially swapped it themselves after some other guys developed it for them. This isn't the same scenario as a couple of guys in my neighbor's basement with hacking software. It's Super Mario Bros. 2. That game you mentioned is Doki Doki Panic, which is an almost identical but different game. SMB2 is a beautiful work of art, cheap sprite-swaps and extra animation frames included.

If it says Super Mario Bros. 2, and it has Mario's characters running around in it, I'd call it a Mario game.

Super Mario Bros. 2 is fucking awesome.

Video game survey for class - ULTRA SHORT - win an album
Devyn replied to zircon's topic in General Discussion
Oh yeah, I took the survey a couple of days ago, just to let you know. Maybe I can win album? -
I personally think that Super Mario Bros. 3 needs more remixes. Yes, there are plenty of games that need remixes even more (many great soundtracks with any remixes whatsoever), but if the other Mario games get so many remixes, Super Mario Bros. 3 deserves more. It has a shit load of tracks, and all of them are awesome. SMB3 is also very diverse in musical style and would allow for lots of different genres to be used. The Sonic series has been covered thoroughly, and has been done good justice, imo.

Megaman, Snifits, and Mouser? Putting those in Brawl would be like having anal with Elizabeth Hurley in a hot tub while downing a bottle of whiskey. It's just too good to be true. But we can dream.

I wish they would quit announcing characters. We already know about how many, 24 or 25. I would like to have a few surprises when the game hits.

I must say, there is a bit too much screamo crap on the list, but there's still some good stuff on there. I'll just skip the screamo.

Anna K. tennis, I can see why you bought that game. I'd say you have me beat. Most of my odd titles are virtual console games. I downloaded World Heroes the other day. It's a blast (wish part 2 would come out soon, what other game lets you put a pirate against a football player?).

One console wouldn't be enough to satisfy the needs of all gamers. You can't have a console with the power of the Xbox 360 and PS3 and the accessibility and low cost of the Wii. It's impossible. You pick which one best suits you and go with it (if you're good with money, you can get all of them). What EA wants is basically just a PC, and that just isn't going to work. I mean, I want EA to die a horrible death, but it just isn't going to happen and there are people besides me who want different things. For instance, lets imagine a store - A really big store, that has everything that the consumer needs: Electronics, food, music, furniture, drugs, car repair, clothing, jewelry, gasoline - And lets make all of the prices unbelievably low. This store will buy out all of those other stores (well, as many as possible), and those stores won't be able to compete. Those other stores may make better products and offer a better service, but they won't have the chance because big store has more locations and has put various restrictions on the companies who make the products it carries. The experience will become grating. You will only have that one store to choose from, as the other places have been choked out. There will only be one company for employees to work. When you go in, the lines will be clogged and the employees will be so overworked and stressed that creativity will be very low on their list of priorities. The other customers will push, get in the way, and generally act like retards. But now you have no other choice. You shopped there, while you could have shopped somewhere else. You could have went to that little corner store and paid a little extra. But no. You bought the same product again and again, even though each one was just a simple rehash of its predecessor. The little corner store is closed now, and the family had to move into a smaller house and get on welfare for a while. This is what happens when you buy Madden NFL 06, 07, and 08 (well in the case of EA, any of their games). This is what happens when you dismiss a game because it's too "kiddy" or too "weird". This is what happens when you only play the big titles like Halo, Mario, and Final Fantasy and skip out on games like Viewtiful Joe. This is what happens when you say "There is only one console worth buying". EA and many other companies are hurting the game industry. But so is the consumer. You, the consumer, have to make smart decisions as a consumer and keep your industry healthy. Without you, none of these companies would be anything.

Less moaning about typing, and more EA hate please. My thirst for hating them is unquenchable.

This guy needs a big fucking glass of Mega Man 2.

Zack and Wiki is out. I'm picking it up tonite. Reviews look good: http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/wii/projecttreasureislandz

Good. If someone released a pirated copy of my album before release date, which I would make no money off of, I would want them shut down too. I don't care what else they do. That's enough for me to say "Fuck them".

Yep, that's what I've heard too: http://ea-spouse.livejournal.com/274.html

If you want a game like Melee, go play Melee.

Competition is extremely important. That competition drives the games industry to make good software. Variation is also extremely important. EA are wrong on so many levels. They are the new world order threat of the games industry.

Wow, you learn something every day. Last time I recalled, women didn't exist on the internet, but I'll take your word for it. I need to stop posting in this thread so much.

Uh, maybe he didn't mean that, it's no big deal either way. It's just a video game, but he'd be an awesome character and wouldn't stick out as much as some people think he would. I'm over it. Next. Ashley's theme is cool. I hope she makes it in as a full character and has some wicked evil spells complete with a Halloween-ish stage. After all, I wouldn't mind seeing some characters that aren't super-popular.
-
Oh yeah, because all of the fighters should be stuffed animals from alternate dimensions. Definitely too cool for a little boxer from the Bronx who beats up men five times his size. Yeah, that cowardly Pokemon trainer is way cooler than Little Mac, I'm sure of it.
-
Well, I guess Nintendo can't unload all of their weapons at once. It isn't like this is the last Smash Bros. game in the series.
-
You are right about the money thing. I think the reason people don't like Clover's closure is because Capcom could've done a better job at marketing their games instead of shutting them down. Also, Clover had a lot of talent and potential. Imagine what Clover could've have done with the Mega Man franchise (You may know what I'm talking about if you've ever played Viewtiful Joe).
-
I heartily disagree. If given the choice I would have sacrificed all of the Pokemon combined just to have a playable Mac. And whoever said that he looks out of place is wrong - Is he out of place when put beside Snake, or Wario? No, there is no such thing as out of place in Smash Brothers. You could put in a flying turd sandwich that shoots hadokens and it would fit right in. Little Mac deserves to be there just as much as Pit does. King Hippo and Bald Bull should have have been assist trophies, and Mac should have been playable. So there, I said it.
-
Finally, I PS2Wii port that may not suck.
-
There is no valid reason whatsoever that Little Mac shouldn't be a playable character.
