Nice ad. I dig it. I wonder if that commercial is airing in just PAL territories. Might as well air it in the Americas as well

Holy crap the map skins are awesome. Riding in Sophia The 3rd in Zelda's 2's Hyrule. What I nice way to end a shitty Monday.
-
Yeah, I just logged in and saw that. You're right. I keep forgetting that they release the physical-based games later on. Damn. Embarrassing. Anyway, let's just pretend I didn't post anything today and resume whatever argument was taking place beforehand.

Pikmin 3 is out for download in North America today. Man the Wii U can spit out some graphics. Just watching the video makes me think about how awesome Nintendo's other first party titles are going to look when they come out. Also, Cloudberry Kingdom is on e-shop. I might try that one. Looks punishing.

Speaking of Metroid, since Metroid Prime Collection is out of print right now Nintendo should upload the Wii versions to the E-shop for like 10-15 dollars a pop. They've said for a while now that they were going to upload GC titles. Why not Wii and GC titles? And, for that, why not now? Well, they finally released Earthbound, which is a game that wasn't already released on the Wii VC, so I'm hopeful they will start mixing it up on the E-shop. I'm glad that they're promoting Earthbound like this. Also, Pikmin's the number 2 game in the UK right now, and that's after #1 in Japan. I can't wait to see how it does in the US. And that's Pikmin. Imagine how things might pay out for Nintendo's more well-known titles.

Those prices are awesome. I said I wasn't going to buy any video games for a while too....for shame.
-
I agree with both of you but on the positive side it may mean one of two good side effects: 1. We will get the game faster or 2. They can focus more on bettering the game.
-
As much as I hate to admit this, that is a disappointment to me. That said, there's no telling what they will have in its place. The yellow devil is there in the trailer, and an adventure mode of some kind is confirmed, which leads me to believe that there will be character stages. There could be an entire series of stages with Mega Man theme, or a whole Metroid sub-section. My anticipation remains high for Smash U, although I will miss the Brawl-style scenes. Then again, after playing Subspace twice, I skip all the scenes after that. And one could argue that forgoing the cutscenes will allow the developers to focus on stage design, enemy designs, balancing, perhaps extra characters and just polish in general, so it's not a total loss from my perspective. Edit: Maybe even some decent online for Nintendo's flagship fighting game?

"Why would you be rude to the guy or girl behind the counter? They don't run the business, they don't decide what prices to make or give, you're just being a dick..." I agree. I once bought Paper Mario 1,000 Year Door for 15 or 20 dollars, disc didn't work, so I went back to get my money back. They told me they have another one at another location 2 or 3 miles down the road (which used to be an EB). The clerk was shocked that I said "okay" and picked it up other there and thanked me, the customer, for not being an asshole. It must be scary to work at gamestop, and I don't blame them, you have to work somewhere. The only thing I really have against gamestop is how they bought out the really good chains like Rhino Games. That place was really cool. But yeah, there's no reason to be rude to employees, gamestop or anywhere. They really don't have much power over you, their boss, or the suit and ties up above.

I admit I'm a big Nintendo fan. I don't think they're better than the other two bigwigs. I just see them as a company that is very important to gaming, which I am passionate about, and want them to succeed. I don't troll the Xbone and PS4 threads, so when someone like you trolls this thread, I feel that it's my duty to defend the subject matter, aka Nintendo's console. You're probably thinking that every single console in my room in a Nintendo console, and that's not true. I've been revisiting Dead or Alive 4 and Ninja Gaiden 2 on my 360 and I've also been very deep in the Neo-Geo fighting games of yore. Nintendo is very important to gaming, just like Sony and Microsoft. Yes, I want Nintendo to claim a piece of the pie, and I want them to be successful, and I want to see their new console be successful. Nintendo fans have had to deal with losing a lot of 3rd party support, so to me, it's nice to see the haters get a taste of their own medicine. Not necessarily a random Sony fan. One of my closest friends is a hardcore Sony fan who will have the PS4 day one. I have no problem with that. So, if Nintendo acquires Atlus, and throws a "bit of salt" around, and a troll like yourself gets butt-hurt about it, then I'm all for it. As for my Sony buddy, he can bring his PS4 over, we can play PS4 games. We can play the next Persona on Wii U. Or not, because really, it's just speculation. Brandon Strader criticizes Nintendo for the right reasons - he thinks they are making bad decisions. He has the right to express his viewpoint. He's genuinely pissed off at Nintendo and the decisions they have made. And I'm cool with that. You on the other hand, can kinda be a turd sometimes. But if that's what floats your boat, then go ahead. You're not getting to me. I enjoy trolling your trollness. Have a lovely, peaceful sleep.
-
.....sigh. You're probably right. Don't take this the wrong way, but I want you to be wrong. This is just what Nintendo needs right now to help get itself turned around. But if they can continue developing for Nintendo and Sony then I'm okay with that too. As long they don't go under because of their parent company.
-
Agreed. The salt would be quite nice....nothing like seeing angry fan-boys ranting at evil old Nintendo. Music to my ears.
-
Well, I don't see that happening at all. Have you seen Samus gigantic boobs and ass in Other M? Have you even played Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn, which has plenty of allusions to racism, sex, and other "grown-up" topics. Heck the latest Fire Emblem on DS has downloadable bikinis for some of their characters. And don't pretend you don't remember what Nintendo did with Rare on Conker's Bad Fur Day. Go ahead, and troll if you want man, but at least get your facts straight. Still, it's possible that Nintendo would tone it down a bit, but Nintendo are often surprisingly quite naughty themselves. Too bad we never got Captain Rainbow in the US.

There are rumors of Nintendo acquiring Atlus. I hope they do. Atlus is a good company and since Nintendo are lacking 3rd party support they might as well beef up there first party: http://wiiudaily.com/2013/07/atlus-for-sale-rumor/ Any of you guys picking up Pikmin 3? I'm thinking I might get it.

Sure, the outlook is bleak, but your argument that ubisoft should drop wii u is irrelevant. You are comparing almost brand new console to consoles that have been out 7 or more year.s In that case you could also put xbox one and ps4 on that chart and put '0' next to it. There are katrillions of 360's and ps3's out there, and when the install base for any console grows, so will overall sales. That chart failed to list that information, so on paper it looks as if it supports your argument. I'm not saying that sales for Wii U will be as high as other consoles, but it will be a higher with a higher install base, and as you Ubisoft said themselves, to do that, Nintendo needs to get their first party games rolling, and that's happening starting August.
-
^ whatever. The install base for Wii U will be much larger by the end of the year. Anyway, Earthbound is coming out today!
-
It is hard to tell as sarcastic as he is. I give him more hell than you do. Oddly enough, one of his mixes came on while I was mowing the grass earlier, so I can't be too mean. Anyway, the figures are 4 dollars, there are 18.....looks like the hardcore Pokemon fans are going to write Nintendo a fat check. I will probably just dl the game and get one figure to try out the NFC.
-
I think he was sincere this time. Good to see folks getting along on here for once. Anyway, it's still too early to say with certainty that things are looking up, but this could be this tip of the iceberg for Wii U's recovery....just maybe. Also, Pokemon Rumble U is due in August for North America.....18 figurines will be available for near-field-communication (exclusively at Gamestop...yeah I know). http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2013/07/pokemon_rumble_u_gets_into_a_dust_up_with_the_wii_u_eshop_on_15th_august I'm admittedly not a huge Pokemon fan nor detractor, but I'm kinda excited for it, just because the WiiWare game was actually pretty fun and I'm itching to try out Wii U's NFC capabilities.

Pikmin 3 is number 1 in Japan game sales right now, and Wii U movements have tripled there. That doesn't necessarily mean the same will occur other places, but I'm willing to bet things will be picking up for the system through this year to next Spring. Success for sales means more games for us to play right? Anyway, just thought we could use some good news around here.
-
Nope. This looks bad.
-
I accidentally looked at the hind side of my self after getting out of the shower this morning, and guess what....It looked like ass. Although the amount of polygons was quite amazing. There's no telling how many they're using while rendering it. Still, much higher resolution than the N64, the PSone, and the original xbox. Just sayin'.

I don't mind the 'cute' and/or 'cartoony' styles that Nintendo uses for their games. For games like Kirby or Yoshi, it seems absolutely necessary. That said, seeing so many upcoming Nintendo games in HD like Mario Kart 8 (which looks awesome), it makes me wonder what Nintendo could do with its lesser utilized franchises. I wouldn't mind a "realistic" looking Punch-Out or F-Zero. And I definitely wouldn't mind a Zelda game doing that either. Still, Skyward Sword was a pretty game. Hell, every Zelda game Nintendo puts out looks great, cartoon-like or not. So I guess it's really not an issue, though I will likely be holding my breath for "dark Mario" into my final days.
-
Mario Kart 8 and Brawl are going to make the Wii U fly like a screaming banshee straight out of hell. You know you want yourself some HD Mario Kart where you can see Bowser's boogers and all that crazy anti-gravity stuff. Also, Pikmin 3 looks pretty awesome. There's a major Nintendo release coming out every month for the rest of the year and the e-shop will finally be heating up as well. Now Nintendo, since you're all buddy-buddy with Capcom and Sega now's the time to dig into your reserves and get some more exclusives. MEGA MAN anyone? Also, go ahead and buy platinum, sick them on Star Fox, when Retro is done with DKC, give them a two week vacation then crack the whip on whatever you can. My inner Nintendo fanboy is flying high today. Obviously.
-
Enjoying the game is enough justification for purchase. If someone feels satisfied for what they've put into acquiring the game, then that's all the justification one needs. When we're all having a blast playing Mario Kart 8, Smash U, and the like next year, I think we'll see that the purchase of the console is justified. And who knows what else. The president just stated they have titles they kept in secret to avoid people ripping it off before release. You may find yourself to be the one missing out soon enough.

Mmmmmmm..... okay, I got you there. Anyway, aside/regardless of tv and other media, from what I read on Nintendo, they gauge game success by profitability. Most publishers, at least from what I've seen, gauge success on profit after cost of development, advertising, etc.. Nintendo recently stated that they would have to sell 700,000 copies of a Wii U fire emblem in order for it to be successful and to at least break even with dev costs. If they can't do it, they're not going to make it. But I guess everyone has different views of success. 3 million would be successful for a game like Pikmin, but it wouldn't be like "Woah big bang" like The Last of Us is doing right now. So, I guess it varies on what one personally defines as 'success' in that case. For comparison, the Fire Emblem on 3ds has sold much less than 3 million but it sold well for what they invested and moved quite a few 3ds units. All this aside, when Nintendo finally has some games they need to ADVERTISE their goods. And they need to do it in STYLE. They act way too humble imo.
