  1. This is very nice. The beginning really reminds me of the Suikoden OSTs with the instrumentation. The rest is quality and has a good melody. Good work mixin the obscure stuff!
  2. There's a lot of creativity in this thang. Very inventive use of pretty much everything. You can tell a lot of time was spent polishing this. I didn't like the Klaatu Verada Nicto samples, however. I have mixed feelings on the amount of volume cut effects used. Sometimes it just seems overboard and like you're showing off, but then again, I really like messing shit up like that and it goes with the overall theme I think. Those wacky effects (was that some foldback distortion) at the end were really cool! Rar. Nice job.
  3. Holy shit. I'm really frikin loving those drums. The rest of the song is pretty quality too. Very cool work. Damn...those drums. You shoulda made the whole song around them! Great ideas. Yay.
  4. Pretty fresh and original. The second half was my favorite as I thought the first half was kinda lacking some flow and in my opinion, the volume cut effects were somewhat exorbitant. But the rest of the stuff in here is great. You messed with pretty much every element of the original a little bit and made it something very interesting to listen to. Keep up the good stuff!
  5. Very tight stuff. Your drums are really fresh and exciting. I can't believe the judges were "split" on the vote! Jeeze. The harshness of this is freakin cool. Wah wah. Guess the judges can't take much different from the norm. I love it. Awesome work. Keep on using messed up sounds like that. They're sweet.

  10. Dude. NICE. I like this a lot. The beginning is quality and arranged very well in my uneducated opinion. I really like the use of the french horn (used to play some horn myself ), but it's kinda quiet I think. It gets a bit drowned out by the other instruments. Ok so the beginning is nice, but it's not my favorite style Then I hear those pads! Man! I REALLY like those pads! This is going in a more electronic direction (my favorite!). You've got the pad going, some synthy arpeggios, but still the very organic/traditional cellos going and I love that. Then the cruched up drums pop in and I'm loving the groove going here. This is my favorite part of the song. The song gets a bunch more trancy now. I like the drums. They sound trancy, but they don't stick to the booooooooooring generic trance pattern that I hear a lot around here. This mix seems like it should be like 12 minutes long instead of 6. I would have loved more development in the techno section and the trance section. Especially the trance section. It sounded like it was just getting started and then the end of the song came around. The orchestral ending kinda came out of nowhere. It was good, but there was hardly any transition into it, so it felt a little tacked on. Very cool! Quality! Interesting!
  11. Hey I really like this. Cool sounds, neat guitar, very interesting and original. I haven't heard a mix like this before. I'm gonna nitpick: 0:48 I don't like the melody panned so far to the right. But very nice otherwise.

  14. Nice mix. Definitly makes me smile. HappyHappyHappy. Gotta salute the man Darkesword for havin the guts to use lots of flutes in an electronic song. Its like he's saying, "My favorite color is pink! So what!" Well, not really, but yeah whatever. The classical type stuff done in this is quite well done and is a bit better than the electronic side to the mix. Not that the electronic parts are bad, just mebbe a bit less interesting. Good ending to a good mix. Thumbs up.

  16. Well, I got the new version posted. Pretty sweet stuff. The bass kick IS quite in your face, but for me it's not a problem. Haroon really knows how to push around really cool sounding synths and sound pro. He knows what makes a trance song. The vocals added are quite cool. I like em. Thumbs up!
  17. Thanks everyone for the nice comments. I really surprised myself with how well this came out since it was only the second song I had done with Reason 2.0 at the time. It really couldn't have been completed without MC. Not just for the kickass pianos, but help in figuring out some of the more difficult chords and stuff like that. We're talking about doing another collab sometime though we don't know of what yet. For the timing issue: I'm somewhat confused because I don't hear a timing issue. The piano that MC provided was sent to me via midi data and imported into Reason. Everything is lined up correctly. I think maybe the confusion may be in that this song is in 7/8 time. The piano in that section has some syncopated rhythms, and the drums at that part don't have much emphasis on the downbeat, but rather the and of the beats with the hi hats. If you count 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,1,2,3,4,5,6,7..... as you listen it all works together. The section is just a bit harder to tap your foot to than the rest of the song I think. I suppose I could have made the beats at that section a bit more easy to follow or something. Man, techno in 7/8 was fun as hell and really refreshing. I'm DEFINITELY gonna pursue some more odd meter stuff in my original work. In case any one is curious as to what language is being spoken in the song, it's Panzerese. Haha. Yeah. The games have their own language. Thanks to the people who helped out in my WIP thread for this song, the people who helped out in the "how do you make a kickass techno beat in 7/8 time?" thread (and a 'nyanya' to that one dude who said it wasn't possible ), thanks to Sega for making kickass inspiring games, and huge thanks to Mr. MC. It was fun.

  19. From the start, I'm liking the sounds used in this. Nice, chill, atmospheric. I don't really like the amount of panning used in this song though. I think it would have been good and not annoying if the stuff wasn't panned out so far. This is recorded a bit too quietly also. Maybe coulda used some more treble in the final mix. I like the section at 2:42; the bassline gets moving faster and some snare stuff is happening. Adds some nice energy. In general, this is pretty sweet! Nice job. Nice sounds.
  20. I haven't read what the judges said, so it's not like I'm 'collaborating', sucking up, or just repeating their reviews or something. Now, since other people said they don't like the amount of reverb used and I also think that, I should just go ahead and change my opinion to make sure that I'm not following the crowd or something? I'm sorry if my opinion is not "unique". It's not like I enjoy pointing out things I don't think are good in a remix. I'd rather give all praise, but only if there was nothing that stuck out as bad to me in the mix. I honestly did not like how the reverb was used, so I stated my opinion in this very thread where we are supposed to state our opinions about a mix. It's not a big deal. EDIT: Just read Prophecy's post. I'll ellaborate as much as I can about this whole reverb dealio. Mostly in the beginning it bugs me. I can't really hear what the piano is doing. It feels like I'm hearing more reverb than the original instrument that is making the reverb sometimes. I hear a muddyness in this song that I don't really like. It kinda sounds like I'm listening on crappy speakers or something. Some sounds that I think should be intense-sounding are a bit watered down by the reverb. It's tough to explain and it's not a huge detriment. Sorry if this whole reverb thing got blown up larger than it should be. It's not much of a problem. I like the mix.
  21. IMO, it's too much. It sounds muddy in a not good way to me. You don't need to get all angry and corrective about my opinion. If you like it, good for you. I don't. Sorry.
