  1. I've already got about a minute of good stuff down, so I think it's safe to say I'll be entering something, whether or not I get it as long as I'd like. Huzzah
  2. I didn't really like the way the Roland Nice Piano sounded in the mix, so I tried Rozovian's tips. New version Do the judges look down on private messages? I don't want to be rude, but I also don't know if any of them welcome stuff like that. I tried for some feedback a couple times on #ocrwip and got nothing, so I might just submit it, unless someone has a problem with this version...
  3. Sig's done. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0903/sawdead/PRC130.png[/img*][/url*]
  4. Under normal circumstances I probably wouldn't enter, but I'll do my best to contribute to Rexy's last round. I have another three-day weekend, anyway. I will get to work on that advertising sig soon.
  5. I will never understand how Rozovian manages to give heaps of good critique all over the board without breaking a sweat. XD These comments will definitely be taken into account when I find the time to work. This is one of the many reasons I should get my own computer that can handle FL Studio. You're taking too much blame for yourself. I did the quick transitions and applied all that reverb on the intro.
  6. All right, I've removed the noise. As for the piano tone, should I look for a softer piano sample for the end, or is there a way to reduce a sample's hardness (with FL Studio)? I played around with some tools/effects, but I really don't know half of what all that stuff does.
  7. I've had trouble both listening and uploading to tindeck, but I also have a sucky computer. I love it when people use googlepages. That said, you can no longer sign up for an account there (though I assume Google Sites is pretty much the same). Box.net is probably the best option when considering both the uploader and the downloader. It's got a reasonable amount of space (1 GB free), quick file access, the ability to stream or download, easy file management... Actually, I'm looking at mediafire now and it seems pretty good. It's one I haven't tried personally, though.
  8. To ask a related question, what dimensions would one use to fit the album cover into a standard cd case?
  9. My good luck has worn off! I thought for sure a game like this would attract a lot of attention, but I guess people are just LAZY these days. including me
  10. All right, thanks for the critique. I tweaked the piano reverb and lessened the drum panning/pitching, and then I realized I'm not sure what you mean by noise around 1:00. Specifically, what's the difference between noise and clutter? Are there different ways to go about fixing each? And if you count the little background section I've emphasized, I'm pretty sure it has enough source. I guess I just didn't use the main melody quite as much as I could have.
  11. All right, [link removed] has been updated. The first chord of strings now fades in more, and I've added a less busy section before the final part.
  12. Advertising sig, coming up... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0903/sawdead/PRC129.png[/img*][/url*]
  13. Yes, I changed it to match the new album art. I'm going to have to print it eventually, and my printer completely butchers dark stuff, so I decided to make a light alternate. XD Anyway, thanks for the comments/critique, Vctrx/evktalo. I started to work on Essence of Lime with the few minutes of freedom I had last night, and the string-fading-in seems to work well. I'm in the process of adding a breath before the last section, so I'll get around to posting it whenever I'm done (soon).
  14. He has a point; it would get lost in Community. I'm not sure that it would get any more attention in there. Anyway, nice round. Despite the reasonably small turnout (although you might call it average for PRC), we got some pretty solid entries. I will send my source choice shortly! I'm lucky I managed to find a good midi for it recently...
  15. Multiple times I've thought about selecting Rogueport for PRC, but some people like to have MIDIs of the source available. I've never found any.
  16. This was my entry for the latest round of PRC. I intend on submitting it, so critique away! Dream Drifting Source (Gateway)
  17. Coolness! I'll be looking forward to this. I'm always getting out this game (not to mention the other handheld Kirbys) to listen to the sound test. It's probably a good idea that you're keeping it small. I have like a million and fifty-two songs to cover for my project. XD
  18. The house/Maku Road collab is taking a bit longer than expected, but in the meantime... [link removed] (Moonlit Grotto) Significance of title The item of Moonlit Grotto, the seed shooter, can shoot any of your seeds like a slingshot. However, unlike the slingshot from Seasons, this shooter can send seeds at 45-degree angles, letting them ricochet off a couple walls before having their effect. Source - Moonlit Grotto Oh, and due to nobody posting anything at all since my last post, the first track will remain open a little longer.
  19. Very true. It eliminates the false excuses like "I don't have time!" because you have to make time. That's not to say people don't have legitimate reasons for not entering - it's just that a lot of us use that excuse when it's not really true. At any rate, looks like we have enough entries for voting! Good deal. Although I expected a slightly larger response. Nario - I don't know much about house, but it sounds good to me. It's too bad you couldn't get it finished! If you ever get around to finishing, make sure to post it here or on vgmix or something so's we can listen! :3
  20. [link removed] has been updated to fill in some of the breaks. Make sure to post any comments you may have about it, even if they're like "I liked the first one better D:" Just make sure to be specific about it. Also, I'd like to call [link removed] done. If anyone has some critique for it, they'd better speak up before my next update. Mmkay?
  21. Yay we have our first entry! I know it was rather fast, but I'm pleased with it. And I need to get back to my project. Or a friend's birthday present. Hmmmm Good luck finishing your entries, everyone!
  22. I know I'm not new to the WIP boards, but yes. Sometimes I use the irc channel if my topics aren't getting much attention. All of the above. Really, I'm up for any kind of comments, whether they are specifically helpful or vaguely encouraging. Of course, the whole reason I post in the WIP board is to get critique before trying to submit somewhere. However, I think it's important for reviewers to encourage at the same time. It makes the remixer feel like "yay if I work some more on this it'll be awesome" instead of "I CAN'T LOOK AT THIS ANYMORE D:" And I like it when people mention specific problems and/or solutions. Never say something vague like "I don't like [instrument]." Say "the [instrument] sounds too mechanical; try varying the note velocities." Too often I see comments that try to be helpful, but really aren't whatsoever. Be specific.
  23. We always love to see new people! PRC is a great place to learn/grow/have fun. I tried out my new favorite synth on this song and it sounds pretty sweet. If I don't finish in time, I'll probably have to finish it eventually.
  24. Ooh, Super Mario Galaxy! Almost anything from that game is gold. It's a three-day weekend, so I might be able to pull off an entry. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0903/sawdead/PRC128.png[/img*][/url*]
