Unfortunately, analoq did not bring along his video recorder (nor did anyone else), which is too bad since there was great opportunity for some hilarious footage. Anyway, Global-Trance has some pics that he's going to post sometime today. A brief summary of events: -Everyone showed up at Trenthian's house between 1-3, whereby people played some fighting games and Guitar Hero 2, and a board game called Caylus. -We hung out and snacked and had fun. JJT, analoq, Trenthian, and zyko started jamming in the living room, and we got to hear analoq's wonderful tenor skills through a vocorder. -We went to dinner around 9 and had some wicked awesome food -We came back and people started to file out of the event (Jiggin Jon T/Was the first casualty) -The remainder of the party (myself, GT, Arek, Trenthian's cousin, and zyko) enjoyed some time in the jacuzzi and had some....spirited....talk about philosophy and religion. Then came some alcohol and craziness. -This morning, it all seemed like a wonderful dream. And zyko might not know who he is anymore. -

I think this sums it up pretty much perfectly (especially during the afterhours enjoyment): It was fun times. And the spontaneous jam session broke out and turned into the FF6 opera theme was so awesome. -

Leaving the house in about 20 minutes. Can't wait to meet zyko. EDIT- I'm also bringing PS2 versions of Marvel vs. Capcom 2, Street Fighter Anniversary, and Guilty Gear X2. -
It also came out on the PSN yesterday. Do you want a PS3?

I was actually posting there when that thread was made. One of the funniest things I've ever seen online. I still can't see why any news sites reported on it, though. It's really not important in any way, and is just a humorous, isolated incident.

Sometime between September and November are when the 65nm units are expected to be in stores, so I imagine a price drop will occur right before those are ready to move out. Also, in other news, Bomberman Live is the best XBLA game, and not only that, is one of the best multiplayer Xbox 360 games period. Worth it worth it worth it.

i was going to make this joke. shit. -
I have to recommend Project Sylpheed to anyone who likes mecha anime or flight-combat sims (it plays like Colony Wars or Wing Commander). It's an exceptionally well-developed game, and while it has a tough learning curve, once you get it the game is great. Developed by GameArts and published by Square Enix (one of the few titles you'll ever see on the 360 with those names). Plus it's only $40 new. And if you're on the fence, try the demo.

It's published by Aksys, not made by them.

I feel really sorry for you that you'll be riding with him in a car for 6 hours. -
So you went to E3, too? Also, if you want a more fleshed out reasoning behind why I didn't like RE: UC, you can read my preview on GAF.

Well, there is a reticle, but the Wiimote just isn't as accurate as a light gun because of the technology it's using (as opposed to how a light gun hooks in to your TV AV jacks). Plus, the Zapper is very awkward to use, IMO, because the trigger is on the front handle, and your rear hand can't provide support. It just kind of sits there grabbing the back handle and serving no purpose. On the bright side, Ghost Squad looked pretty good, so if you need a shooter, that should be ahead of UC on the list. Also, I got to see NiGHTS in action, and NiGHTS fans shouldn't be disappointed. Super Mario Galaxy is, as it has always been, one hell of an impressive game.

Umbrella Chronicles is not very good. I played it. There's no sense of any tactile feedback for the different weapons. The voice acting is RE1 levels of horrible. It's hard to tell if bullets are hitting enemies or not. The aiming is very imprecise (since the Wiimote is not a light gun). The game you should be excited about is Soul Calibur Legends. If you must play RE:UC, I suggest renting it first when it comes out, otherwise you'll probably be very disappointed.

From my time at E3 so far, here's what you should be hyped for and what you should avoid at all costs Looking good: Ace Combat 6 Quake Wars Devil May Cry 4 DO NOT BUY: To tell you the truth, I haven't played a bad 360 game at the show yet, at least nothing that me cringe like RE Umbrella Chronicles on Wii. There were a couple on-the-fence titles that were fun, but were not themost impressive: Culdcept Saga, Beautiful Katamari etc.

So does Hideo Kojima.

The only way to tell is by actually opening up the box and getting the system out. Shine a flashlight into the bottom end, and if you can see the DVD drive reflection, then there's no heatsink. To be honest, it's pretty safe to buy a 360 at this point. The disc-scratching and DVD drive issues seemed to affect units manufactured in the launch window almost exclusively and I believe that problem has been remedied for the most part. If you're worried about your system dying due to hardware failure, MS has you covered for 3 years for free. If your system will die, it will die within the first 36 months. By the way, keep on eye on the marketplace this week as there will be demos of both Blue Dragon and Ace Combat 6 because of E3 (and probably more). I'll be there in person, and while I won't be doing my usual yearly writeup for the OCR forum (since I have a lot of work I'll be doing for GamesAreFun), if you want me to check out a particular game at the show and give some impressions, I'd be more than happy to (and that goes for all systems).

Uh, no? http://www.majornelson.com/archive/2007/07/05/Show-_2300_233-The-one-with-Peter-Moore-on-the-Xbox-360-enhanced-warranty-.aspx

Peter Moore himself said you should get it mailed to you and to expect a check in about 10-12 weeks.

You guys are going to be really disappointed when you find out that the game recycles all 8 levels and all 10 bosses across all 5 characters. Rather than being a 35-40 hour game, it feels like five different 7 hour games back to back using the exact same assets. I was really loving at first, then not so much, and now it's just kind of "eh, more of the same." By the way, if you think Valkyrie is the most boring story, you're really going to hate Cornelius and Mercedes. Oswald's story is the most interesting and his character abilities make him the most fun to play as. Game is a 7/10, could have been more if there wasn't so much repetition of everything.

I already did (see: UnforgivingEdges) -
Yeah, don't use those. If you're really worried about cooling the system adequetly (which I admit is reasonable; the fan inside isn't quite powerful enough, IMO), try any combination of the following: -Place your 360 out in the open on top of a table or entertainment center to allow maximum airflow into the vents. -You could also place one of the intake vents near an open window -You could also point an ordinary house fan into the intake vent I have a sneaking suspicion that the reason for the failures is a large amount of heating and colling cycles on the chip and motherboard. If you can minimize rapidly cooling the system after use (i.e., leave it on the dashboard for a few minutes before you turn it off), then you should be fine. Basically the main thing to remember is not to subject the internal components to drastic changes in temperature. Probably not. But you never know. And well you should. My recommendation to you is to wait until either Microsoft anounces some sort of fix, or until the new chips are out if you're really worried. You should have a better idea of what's up after E3 in a couple weeks. Otherwise, if you go through with buying one, make sure you get an extended warranty from the store you purchase the system from. For what it's worth, my 360 is 7 months old (and was in fact manufactured in June of 2006) and has worked nearly flawlessly.

The only organization with the letters "e" and "b" in it that you should be using to sell games is eBay.
