  1. in 2004, i became one of three students in NYSSMA (new york state school music association) to have a perfect score over 7 or more auditions, and reached all-state (first chair) for the second time, making me the top-ranked saxophonist overall in the state for the second year in a row. ^that's my musical high point so far. we'll see what grad school brings.
  2. tableaux is one of my favorite pieces. played it in high school, played it for a jury in college, and chose it for my recital because it's SO dang good. there's so much there that you miss on the first few times through it.
  3. i was going to wear leather gloves, but i wore tails and a dark red vest and tie. it was nice.
  4. if i can throw something together...i'm there. edit - dude, make it longer. like, by a week. please?
  5. paule maurice - tableaux de provence (alto and piano) alfred desenclos - prelude, cadence, et finale (alto and piano) akira yuyama - divertamento for marimba and alto saxophone (duh) david jones - mass transit (sax 4tet, me on bari) it went well! not as perfect as i'd have hoped, but it went pretty well. i'll have recordings soon.
  6. and i'll post music as soon as possible after it's done. wish me luck! edit: everything's up at http://prophet.escariot.net/recital/ in both a zip of 128kb. here's the tracklist. 1. introduction (an email my sax-hating professor wrote to me ages ago that i couldn't help but let everyone else enjoy) 2-4. movements I-III of paule maurice's Tableaux de Provence. light french classical saxophone, and my favorite on the concert. 5. desenclos's Prelude, Cadence, et Finale. heavy post-romantic, mostly atonal, slightly serialistic classical saxophone. my pianist sucked on this piece, but it was still fun. by far the hardest piece on this recital, and it shows. 6. yuyama's divertimento for marimba and alto saxophone. there's a significant 6-mallet section in the middle that my guy messed up (very difficult stick change, apparently), so the 6-mallet part isn't as good as it could be, but it was still pretty good. very enjoyable listen. 7. jones's mass transit. AWESOME funk/jazz sax quartet, stomping included. very much fun, although we sound terrible. i played bari sax on this one, which is why the top sounds so wacked. it starts on two, if you're curious. and, yeah, we've only got two majors in the group, which is why we sound so darn bad. and you can totally hear me laughing during the applause at the end. anyways, enjoy! enjoy, everyone!
  7. i'm taking a look at the other songs on the soundtrack. don't think i'll try to top prizm's bowserispissed mix, but we'll see with the others.
  8. i've never had a corrupted file in four years of using fl. i don't understand how all these people keep torching their project =) i've got a nice wip so far. totally unlike anything you'd ever think, after listening to the mp3 of it.
  9. it's legit, all the way. don't worry =) pm me when you're ready.
  10. karedis sent me the cash this afternoon, so he's getting a box now too.
  11. oh, hey, this is that song, isn't it? missed this thread. thanks for the compliments. zach, over easter break we're gonna break this down again, ok? i'll bring my recording stuff home.
  12. wow, i had to look to find this. superbump. still working slowly on it. once my recital (3/5) and the play i'm tech-directing (3/16) is done, i'll have WAY more time to work on music.
  13. whoops, missed this. i'm still in, just like before. i'll wait till it's almost done to jump in. put me in for sax and vocals if needed, as always.
  14. i'm looking for a computer magazine to start subscribing to, maybe two mags. i'd prefer one that looks a lot at hardware (not necessarily the most recent stuff) and windows-based systems. and games, since i like games and play them a lot =) i prefer un-opinionated reporting, as opposed to fanboyism. if it comes with free stuff occasionally, i'd like that too. any ideas? what do you read?
  15. i'm now building a box for chrono26 and griffin9. sweet!
  16. almost back from choir tour...after my recital on the fifth, i should be a lot less busy!
  17. you need to know about a whole lot of things to make a computer, don't forget. a lot of people aren't as savvy with electronics as the people who frequent this board, don't forget. and yes, escariot, you count. pm me with dates where you'd have a day or so free for me to come in.
  18. slight bump. i wanted to point out that i've already heard from five OCR people already about building them a computer, and i've worked out details with three of them. =D
  19. i put up a wip a while ago, is anyone going to notice?
