  1. updated, and a message sent to xavier too.
  2. i got that, having played a few minutes of it before. poking around with it occasionally now. i never was a fan of zelda but it's still a fun game, and i love voxels =D
  3. i used to work at a game store that isn't gamestop. we experienced massive theft EVERY SINGLE MONTH. shrink was often 15% of sales. we kept all used games behind the counter and only put cases out. all new games were always on a wall behind the counter and we'd get it down for you to look at if you wanted, but i had to stand there until you were done. controllers were behind the counter. only used third-party merch was on the floor. everything else was locked up or behind the counter.
  4. i'm about six chapters in and i don't hate it, but i'm kinda ambivalent. i'll see how i am after this weekend.
  5. followup: so i have played a few games so far. uncharted 3 was good, but i didn't think it stood up as well to other games in that genre. in particular, a newer game (Tomb Raider) just blows it out of the water. tacking on Chloe at the beginning and Elena at the end highlighted how much worse the plot was as compared to Uncharted 2, and the game kind of devolved into a run-and-gun by the end. not to mention charlie was brought in as this great bro character but then he disappears for literally the entire last half of the game. i didn't feel it held up well as a shooter compared to the other games, but maybe that's just favorable memories. either way it was still an entertaining and exciting game - just not the showstopper that U2 was. valkyria chronicles is an interesting take on strategy. i really got a bad vibe at first, which didn't make a ton of sense given the tight feel and frankly beautifully animated battle areas, and i think it's because i want it to be FFT HD and not something else. they aren't even close enough to compare so i'm not sure why i get that. i don't like the inefficiency of the running (i waste a lot of ap) and the drawn-out cutscenes or bad actors (WELKIN), but a successful strategy feels good. i don't know if i'll finish it though honestly. i'm playing The Last of Us right now. i generally don't like survival horror games, but this one compares favorably to Enslaved (one of my favorite games this generation) and the voice acting is stunning. controls aren't too tight which is a downer, and i don't like freaky games normally (i almost put down the original uncharted when the shotgun sequences started in the last third of the game), but the quality on this one is so evident i want to keep playing it.
  6. you don't have a television at all but you want to play it via analog monitor instead? ps3: 300$ (i see slims used for 200$ all the time) game: 60$ monitor with HDMI or dvi connection: 125$ (a 19" widescreen 16:9 monitor would be perfect). where does a grand come from? you could do this for 400$ if you're willing to buy used. alternatively, hdmi to vga ain't that bad (look for a dvi to vga converter, and strap an hdmi to dvi on the other side...you can get them from various sites for cheap, monoprice has several that are a good price).
  7. don't they normally do that right in front of you, while you watch?
  8. i've had mine since a while after launch and never had a problem. i am not nice to controllers either. maybe different batches? or you're all just terrible, that's a possibility too.
  9. i think it's hilarious when people complain about used game prices. they wouldn't charge that if people didn't buy them at that price if you can get a game for 60$, or a game for 55$, very few people pick the 60$ option unless they want to support the developers specifically. of course, those people preorder through amazon and get direct shipping for free or something like that. also, since people who buy a lot of games through them use their little powerup card thingie, they get an additional percentage off the cost of the game. so, that 55$ brand new game becomes 50$, or 45$, which is a pretty decent price for a new game that won't see a price drop for a while.
  10. these are headphones by akg, right? updated.
  11. my favorite is definitely the race with the 4x teleporter. i get a bunch of rock and spider folk and send them in to demolish the place. super fun. too bad it's *very* difficult to get it to work on the endgame, and an early autoscout can wreck your face.
  12. of course not. i could choose to play a more difficult route. but saying that the entire game is more difficult than another when there is such an easily game-breaking strategy doesn't make a ton of sense.
  13. see, i thought tactics ogre was broke as shit. archers are so stupidly overpowered that you can get a few tanks with the ability to prevent passage in front and just load up with mages and archers behind. you cremate everything.
  14. chameleon suit, yeah. i always forgot to use it and had to reload a prior save. that's what i thought. you can say the game is unbalanced or broken as much as you want, but picking smart comps and doing a few spare battles here and there to keep your levels up is all that's really necessary.
  15. am i weird if i say that i didn't find FFT to be that difficult (except for that one solo battle with the dude who murders you every time unless you're wearing a special coat)? even war of the lions wasn't that bad imo.
  16. this is the thread that never diiieeeees oh it goes on and on i ask whyyyyyyy
  17. i have recently started playing nasus on summoner's rift. i am REALLY enjoying him. i would have thought that a farmchamp like that would not be my strength since i suck at last-hitting, but i've really been enjoying him and his little farming meta. i also love being able to just get so freaking big and ignore people for extended periods of time in teamfights. any time when you can get 250+ on your resists, 3200 hp, and still deal a lot of damage is pretty darn cool. i also survived and was able to still be effective against a gp/teemo lane, which was super cool...i figured he'd get slaughtered but i was still able to get some farm and keep up.
  18. resonance of fate, ffx-2, tactics ogre on psp, and one or two others. tactics ogre was cool for the first seventy hours or so but just dragged and dragged once i realized how broken some of the combat was. i played through ffx-2 because final fantasy, but i wouldn't call it a great game by any stretch of the word (although the switching thing was cool and i liked that as much as i liked it in FF13 and 13-2, which is to say a lot). resonance of fate got the dunk when i started falling asleep in battles. the rest...eh, i hate anime, dude. the cutesy crap kills me. i just can't stand the acting, which is bad because good acting makes bad games entertaining. thank you for reading anything in my first post
  19. because it was 2 years old almost across the board.
  20. something i discovered: the neutral/friendly travelers will help if you drag an aggro'd character into their midst, making it way easier to kill mobs at level 1. and you get more experience that way.
