  1. I started playing because of this mix... and DANG IT you're right! How does a source tune so beautifully arranged and orchestrated get a part in the OST that's so small while such an annoying repetitive track gets stuck on the dungeon theme.
  2. No fighting this one... One of OCR's best. An amzing track that deserves the attention of ANYONE who loves this kind of music. A phenomenal track.
  3. Okay, WIP time: http://bol.white-raven.net/other/A%20Love%20Of%20Knowledge.mp3 I want this to be done and I've sort of hit a wall. It sort of sounds like it could be done already depening on how it's used. Yes that's live accoustic accordian samples. This wasn't recorded to tempo. A hi-fi stereo version is available for anyone interested in taking over... Let me know what the general consensus is. I kind of never want to see it again... aside from within the project.
  4. Y'know those musicians that people sometimes enjoy because of their talent but don't get enough love/popularity over all because the majority of people, for some gay reason, prefer their talentless whiney pop hits and popular radio bunk? Y'know who I mean, guitarists like Don Ross, bassists like Victor Wooten and drummers like Carter Beauford? The kinds of musicians that let their skill throb through their music? There is no doubt in my mind that Shnabublua is a musician of this caliber. His maticulous sequencing and professional ear for synths helps him produce tracks the likes of which I've never heard equalled. Don't listen to the negative feedback Shnabublua, you'll never please the masses with your style unless you see fit to change it... but you'll always be one of the few producing songs of the highest, most top-notch quality on OCR... whether people see it or not. 11/10
  5. Pretty dang smooth... the vocals and percussion remind me of Enya or something with a celtic feel to it. Lyrics are beautiful and Jill harmonizes very well with herself. You'd have to be an idiot not to hear the sheer quality of this mix; it's chock full of sonic goodness. I'm sure many fans of pixitricks, FF10, and good music will be pleased to find something so hot-off-the-press worth keeping on loop. 9/10 just because I haven't listened to it enough yet to give it 10.
  6. Not a bad idea, and fair arrangement, but it's pretty hard to get by that synthesized sax imo. It's so 2002...
  7. Wow, what a sexy sexy song. Great synths, the Slayer was used effectively, and it just comes out very very smooth. The detached ending is definitely the way I like it. Great mix. 9.5/10
  8. In the storybook, the Time to Learn song is going to play in the first few pages where there will be a small tutorial telling users how to use this book. Keeping it short would probably be acceptable. BTW, wanna put a Cello in your remix? OSNAP yes, that would work great, you offering? Reach me. Ah... there's the mp3 I see...
  9. Meh, somewhat mediocre given that I knew that the quality WAS high to begin with. You aren't bad D. and you know it, and the source tune DID deserve some mixage, but I think this theme screams for something... not heavy metalish. Feel free to listen to anyone else's critiques over mine, I'd hate to deflate this moment for you and I'm CERTAIN you've pleased and will please great crowds with this mix.
  10. Woah, this thread likes to move don'it. K, since I like mystery etc I'm not gonna post a wip just yet, but I would like some info/guidelines about the song I picked: "time to learn" Depending on where it fits in to the story I could do it different ways, should it be short? like < 2 minutes? or should it be epic like I'm sure the rest of the soundtrack will be and aim for 4-5+? And should I keep it simple like the original or should I make it as rich and full as possible? I'd like to know where the piece would fit in to the story... it's kind of key. ^^ (I wonder if this should've been pm'ed?)
  11. It's pretty good.. it has a decent amount of groove to it, very fun and tasty... but by the time I remembered the source tune (which was closer to the end... the last minute) it dawned on me that THAT was my favourite part. Left me wanting either more, or a fresh take. Meh, I'm just complaining... I'll definitely listen again soon.
  12. Put me down as a probably on Time To Learn. I'm gonna record some stuff right now unless I get distracted.
  13. So... much... disonance... I love you mazedude, and I love Earthbound's soundtrack; in fact, it's my second favourite of all time, but it's pretty clear this isn't anything groundbreaking... but you knew that submitting it. Didn't you... DIDN'T YOU!?! That said; there's some great stuff in here. There's a few beautiful solo moments and it's overall pretty fun. Keep up the good work.
  14. Adhesive Boy uses AudioMulch! I'd know that DigiGrunge intro sound anywhere. Well used too. I don't know this for sure, but here's another example of the DigiGrunge used in a cutup I did of a Chrono Trigger song: Soupy Sunrise Back me up if you think it's the same.
  15. Until July 18th I have a C/G Concertina... pretty fast to pick up too, I'm already doing 32nd notes at 100bpm.
  16. K, so I lost all of my samples/soundfonts and I'm re-building as intelligently as I can. Tefnek gave me this: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=37272 ...which... really does belong here anyway, and I got soundfonts.darkesword.icanread... and I DREAD going back to hammersound although I know I will... (last time I d/led EVERY link that worked...) but I'm posting here mainly to get one of two things: 1- A nice big zip or rar of breakbeats. I only had like 30 before but they were enough. and 2- I want to replenish fast. Can't anyone who has space torrent their complete collection? Or zip it for me and meet me online to send it? Or do something that isn't as retarded as going everywhere for everything; grabbing one at a time? Danka.
  17. OMGbestmixevar. I'm gonna listen to this one until it annoys my roommates. Hellasmooth. Just for this I'm vgmix searching all your stuff Morse.
  18. Wow. This is an OCR you can't miss. Beautiful vocal harmonies, excellent song-writing. It begs for your attention. Give over to it. Pretty hard not to give this one a 10/10.
  19. Not at all bad, another great take on Terra. My one complaint though is that the 10/10 guitar & vocals are so high quality it makes the 9 out of 10 drums seem more like 7 out of 10 drums. If that makes any sense. Still, FF6 fans, Terra fans, and prog rock fans should be thrilled today.
  20. The harp has a strongly clashing note around 1:38, but that is probably my only complaint. Great mix; I wouldn't say it captures the original qualities, because it changes the mood. The flow is different, the rhythm is completely different and even goes into weird time signatures and stuff... but overall very pleasant little thing here. Werid ending choice, straight up octaves... I can't seem to give it above a 7.5/10 though. Beautiful source, good take, but nothing sensational.
