  1. Are you meaning how should you set up your computer? Or how should you set up your program? If so, google home studio pc setup and I'm sure you'll get plenty of information on how to setup your computer, keyboard, and DAW. Or do you mean, where should you start on the path of music-making? If so, I'd do a search for Basic Music Theory, as that will start teaching you how music works. Once you've got a grasp on the basics and fundamentals, everything else builds on top of that.
  2. Glad to see Luhny have his OCR Debut! I've heard several versions of this and he's definitely come a long way from where he started. Major prop's man!
  3. Glad to see you're back Ellywu! I too was gone for several years and have recently returned. I'm not familiar with the source tunes on those, but the mute city track sounds cool.
  4. Did I hear Pandemonium is still available??
  5. I got a few ideas from that song, yes. I believe I changed enough for it to be considered a new song, but some of the intro stuff I did get from that song.
  6. The whole VotL project is awesome, but I have to say this track is definitely pulled the most plays so far. Great work!
  7. So I don't pay attention for one month and this just happens to happen. Totally awesome Jill. Very impressive, yet not so shocking
  8. I don't have a digital camera, but I do have a camcorder. I'll make a video soon, I just have to clean up and, well, find my camcorder.
  9. We'll need more info. What program are you using? How are you connected to your computer?
  10. Do you have a sound sample we could listen to? It could be a number of things. - If you're getting a shitty sound, it could just be the settings on the guitar amp. Make sure you have good tone before recording, it's a nightmare to try and fix after recording. - Where are you putting the mic? Generally, you want it about 6-9 inches away from the main speaker, pointing at the speaker. If you have it somewhere like in the middle of 2 or more speakers (you mentioned a cab) you're not going to pick up the original sound too well. The fact you're getting an equally bad line-in sound leads me to think it's really the guitar/amp settings. So make sure the amp sounds good first. Generally, a flat eq is the way to go, it makes it easier to eq it in a mix because you don't have to compensate for the eq settings you recorded into it. What kind of guitar part is it? Distorted? Clean? If you're recording a distorted guitar, try recording a clean sound and see if the problem is still there.
  11. The point is, you're not going to find a free guitar soundfont or synth, not even a cheap one that's worth anything. If you want realistic guitar you're either going to have to fork out a bit of cash or find someone who can record the parts live for you.
  12. .nki files are Native Instrument files, things like DFH, Colossus, Adrenaline. Akai is another cd format that many sample cd's use. www.soundsonline.com is a pretty good way to start your search. Almost all of the stuff on there is usable on Kontakt 2. I'm not sure if it's also usable on Kompakt though.
  13. I got a new computer and it's my first computer with a dual processor in it. My M-Audio Audiophile 192 is a bit picky when it comes to IRQ's, it wants it's own IRQ. On my old computer this wasn't a problem, just switching to Standard PC-Mode, but apparently with a dual processor you can't switch to Standard PC-Mode Does anyone have experience in setting up an IRQ demanding PCI card on a system with dual processors?
  14. http://kwakfest.vgmix.com/kwakfest-2007-01-13.zip Get a taste of what you missed out on, so you'll want to come around next time!
  15. Starting in under 10 minutes! Hurry!
  16. For anyone and everyone interested! There will be a kwakfest tonight at 11 pm EST. Don't know what a kwakfest is? Go here! For those who don't want to read the faq, kwakfest is basically a 1-hour GMidi Compo that is just for fun. A bunch of us get together and spend 1 hour making a GMidi song the best we can, then we send them all to everyone else and listen to each song at the same time. These are a TON of fun! Even if you can't make music, you can still come and listen to the entries and have a good time with all of us!
  17. I recorded the first few songs. Stupid me turned off the camera before he did the most awesome acoustic version of Blood on the Asphault you would ever hear .

  22. That's not Teknoboy, that's me! Anyways, one of the coolest things about Magfest is that there are all-stars ALL OVER THE FRICKIN' PLACE! Seriously, you turn around and boom, there's housethegrate, or virt, or djpretzel, or Mustin, or tipsytricks, or freekin' tons of other big names in the community. And they are all some of the coolest and most friendly people you'll ever meet.
