  1. Gamemaster totally got nominated in the Best Coordinated Combat category. :nicework:

    Which video?

Wait, I only see 9 videos in that category... is it just me, or do I have Gamemaster as my friend on Youtube or something, and they block my vote for it due to that?

Actually, I took a look... it's Sir Prize's version that's on the nomination list, under the name TF2 Replay: Fists of Shield (Saxxy Entry, Sir Prize Version)

  2. Don't get me wrong, it's neat (and I'm keeping it!), but it's not the same as a hat!

Yes, please complain about getting one of the few Misc items in the game, one of two that the Engineer has, both of which are newish.

Oh, and it's also one of the items with alternate styles.

  3. My renamed items include:

    Vintage Gunslinger: Vintage Fungineer Dropper

Description: Sometimes you just need a little less gun.

    Vintage Huntsman: Head Magnet

Description: Has the uncanny ability to headshot no matter where you aim!

Vintage Master's Yellow Belt: Vintage Master's Black Belt

    Painted: Black

    Vintage Ambassador: The Golden Gun

    Description: Not actually golden...

L'Etranger: Mr. Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang

Description: He's tall, and he's dark, and like a shark, he looks for trouble.

Cloak and Dagger: A View to a Kill

Description: Between the shades, assassination's standing still.

Dead Ringer: You Only Live Twice

    Description: ...or so it seems.

Knife: Licence to Kill (I recently fixed this, it used to be License to Kill)

Description: And you know I'm going straight for your heart!

Your Eternal Reward: Live and Let Die

Description: When you were young, and your heart, was like an open book...

    Familiar Fez: Mustafa's Minion Cap

  4. Welcome back, Powerlord. Sucks about the power outage.

Anyone know anything about the Magicka item? Haven't seen anything about it yet, and I actually have the game. Might finally get a promotional item for once.

Filenames from the server updater imply Demoman hood of some sort.

Also, the Demoman model was updated, no idea why.

Full list of model/textures updated (skipping the boring server files):

  5. Hot on the heels of my return, we have:

A required update for Team Fortress 2 is now available. Please run hldsupdatetool to receive the update. The specific changes include:

    - Added the Magicka promotional item

    - Fixed the targetID panel not drawing in first-person spectator mode

    - Fixed the main menu showing through the shopping cart menu when running at 2500x1600

    - Updated some of the tips that are displayed while the server is changing maps

    - Updated the webapi output to include the names of the attached particles

    - Updated the gamehaptics.txt file

  6. Sorry about not finishing the vote thing yet.

I originally planned on finishing it yesterday, but rather than do a simple version that works for one thing, I'm writing a SourceMod Extension to act similarly to the existing Vote system.

Of course, I'm only going to implement map votes for now, but this way, the logic exists to extend it later without breaking things.

  7. AT LONG LAST! NOTHlNG BUT DUSTBOWL, BADWATER, GOLDRUSH, TURBINE, and FILLER!!

We were operating with only five maps at a time on the mapchooser until just recently... so it won't really be any different than before other than using the F1-F5 keys instead of 4-8.

Then again, that's the point of changing it!

  8. Updated pl_swiftwater on the server to frc20.

Also, I've put a lot of effort into reverse engineering the TF2 Voting system, but it's more complicated than it first seemed.

I'm downloading the L4D2 Authoring Tools to see if L4D2's version of the Source SDK contains documentation for the CVoteController server object (which also exists in L4D2) before I go around crashing my test server by sending it random data.

  9. An optional update for Team Fortress 2 is now available. The specific changes include:

    Source Engine Changes (CS:S, DoD:S, TF2, HL2:DM)

    - Fixed a client crash when disconnecting from servers with sv_pure set to 1

    - Fixed a client crash in the material system

    - Fixed a client crash caused by using alt-tab while playing

    Team Fortress 2

    - Added the Concheror and the Fishcake to the list of weapons allowed in Medieval mode

    - Fixed a few server crashes caused by the replay system

    - Fixed a server crash caused by the vote system

    - Fixed the notification text being clipped when you receive items

    - Updated the localization files

Going to update BLU and RED shortly.

I'm not sure why they consider this an optional server update if it changes weapons allowed in Medieval, though.

Edit: We've temporarily killed the TF2 servers... there were having problems during restart and the system appears to be extremely busy at the moment.

Edit 2: BLU and RED are back up now. We had two problems (one with the server's third TF2 server), which in turn caused TFStats Scripts to try spawning multiple copies spinning MySQL out of control.

  10. Valve made a blog post earlier today that basically said that the first round of voting ends Thursday.

Once that's done, Valve employees will take some time to choose some final nominees in each category (I expect this to take at least a week Valve time (2-3 weeks)), at which time they'll have us, the end users, vote on videos (1 vote per category).

  11. No update yet.

However, I'm also here to mention I put a new version of Mapchooser Extended on the server that resolves an issue with runoff votes not occurring when they should be (and some new error handling code that doesn't apply to TF2).

  12. I feel stupid. I totally forgot to hit F6 last night after getting Revenge on Frogg by airblasting him off the bridge on Double Cross.

Anyway, I expect an update (minor likely) to hit in roughly 30 minutes, when the Saxxy submissions close.

  13. I had to revert back to the old-style vote menu. Bark couldn't open it at all. Other people couldn't figure out how to open it either; I don't know if they had the same issue as Bark or just didn't realize it required you to hit Esc.

Luckily, it's a cvar in the plugin, so I don't need to do any extra coding.

Also, my Western Wear has been traded to Sir Prize for a Villain's Veil... somehow he got two of the things already!

  14. Updated BLU and RED with the new version of Mapchooser Extended and flipped it to use the "Press Escape first" style vote menu.

I'm not sure I like it as well, but it says "Escape menu pending" or something like that in bright red letters in the upper-left corner.

  15. You know its funny when I was just reading this thread, close it, see that I have finished downloading an update, look around haplessly for the patch notes, and then come here again to see if Powerlord has posted them yet. This happened in a 30 second time period.

What I'm trying to say is a.) I come to an OCR thread to find official TF2 patch notes and b.) Damn Powerlord you fast as shit.

I had just uploaded Mapchooser Extended 1.6b1 to OCR Event 2 (aka Powerlord's Plugin Test Lab) and launched the game to test it.

Except I had to update my client, and presumably the server, since they made changes to the game item data. They haven't actually announced it on the server mailing list yet.

Edit: Server is operating at a higher than normal CPU load. I've delayed bringing RED back up until it goes down... hopefully in a few minutes.

  16. Updates to Team Fortress 2, Counter-Strike: Source, Day of Defeat: Source and Half-Life 2: Deathmatch have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. The major changes include:

    Source Engine Changes (CS:S, DoD:S, TF2, HL2:DM)

    - Fixed another case where the $ignorez material flag could be used as a cheat

    Team Fortress 2

    - Extended the Saxxy contest deadline to 11:59:59 PM GMT, Friday, May 20th, 2011

    - Fixed the third-person camera options dialog not displaying correctly in the Replay performance editor

    - Fixed a rare case where users running Service Pack 3 on Windows 7 64-bit with graphics driver version 12.42 saw a graphical glitch on the main menu Options button

    - Updated the Three-Rune Blade, Hero's Tail, and Sign of the Wolf's School items so they can be crafted and traded

Nothing more fun than trying to launch the game to test a plugin change and being greeted by a game update, particularly since I'd JUST updated the Event server and have to update it again.

  17. I can't even encode Replays to videos right now, TF2 crashes every time I try. Which really sucks.

A shame, too, because I have a 7-second clip where I backstab two Scouts that I thought was pretty good.

    2 scouts of a 4 person team. :P

Also, I crafted a bunch of hats together yesterday... and I got one of the new ones (Western Wear engy hat #453).

I'm thinking about trading it for metal before the value of it goes down.

On another subject, I'm going to be testing a new version of Mapchooser Extended that uses a different menu style. I don't know how it works in TF2, but in HL2DM, you have to hit Esc to access this menu, so it no longer blocks weapon switches.

  18. A required update for Team Fortress 2 is now available. Please run hldsupdatetool to receive the update. The specific changes include:

    - Update your game to the most current version

    - Right-click on the game and select "Properties"

    - Click on the "Local Files" tab

    - Click on the "Verify Integrity of Game Cache" button

    - After doing this, you should remove -autoconfig from your launch options

    Source Engine Changes (CS:S, DoD:S, TF2, HL2:DM)

    - Fixed several client crashes on game startup, shutdown, and replay interaction

    - Updated the materials used on models to ignore the $ignorez flag, to make it harder to create wallhacks on sv_pure 0 servers

    - Added an Advanced Options button to the main menu to allow tweaking of many gameplay options

    - Fixed server crashes related to replays and new items

    - Added "per_class_loadout_slots" and "attribute_controlled_attached_particles" sections to the GetSchema WebAPI call

    Updating BLU and RED now.

BLU is operational again, and RED will follow shortly.

  19. Hey Powerlord turn the RED server into a TF2ware-enabled server. It'd be a fun option to have on there since its an event server.

I don't really like turning RED into a permanent event type of thing. More along the lines of using it separately.

Just curious, are there any Spy videos where the Spy is doing well and the enemy team is competent? It seems like most Spy videos out there the enemy team is incapable of looking behind themselves as their team is wiped out single handedly by one spy.

I swore I linked to two videos I did when we first tried replays, back when they sporadically caused the server to lag.

Anyway, here they are... the good parts of two consecutive lives:

They aren't stellar (only 2 kills in one video and 4 in the other), but they don't suck either. Oh, and I killed both Frogg and his medic in each video.

Now, if only replays existed during the times I've gotten 12 kills in one life before...
