  1. Does anyone have it? It was in WIP a while ago and I nabbed it then, but lost it in an HDD crash. It started out with some low drums and was a very solid mix of the Scaraba Desert theme. Does anyone have this? I know it's kind of a vague description, but it was the only Scaraba WIP that's been in there for a while. Thanks!

  3. It sounds like you've got a pretty solid design going so far, and I like the concept. My advice would be to just start programming it based on the idea you have now, and once you see how it actually starts to play, make changes to the design to accomodate what's more fun. Start working on combat before the level creation, since that seems to be the core of the design. I'm also working on something vaguely similar, although it's more like online Isolation (Read: Side scrolling WASD + mouse shooter, click this) than MMX. As far as pricing goes, it'd have to be pretty high quality to charge $39.99 for. Most people won't pay much for anything 2D nowadays, with the exception of handhelds. I'm aiming to get my game on Steam, and if I did, I'd ask $9.99 max for it, although I'd probably wind up just making it free. I'd probably pay a similar price for the game, and only if I played it first and it was refreshingly fun. I wouldn't play it at all if it had a monthly fee; avoid doing that at all costs, as you do not carry the same weight as Blizzard in the game making world.
  4. I'm not going to get my hopes too high, as I know they'll be crushed when this comes out. If not, I'll just be that more entertained by the fact that it actually was a good movie. Perhaps it could cover part of the story of the MSX games? That's the one era we have yet to see in any sort of accurate detail, aside from the previous missions text in MGS1.
  5. One thing I would advise is to be careful how you handle the online play. It is much more difficult than it seems to keep a game running at a playable latency, even with only two players. The less you have to synchronize, the better. I thought it'd be a piece of cake to do, but it wound up taking me a good 2 months to get networking functioning at a playable level in my game, and it still isn't perfect (yet). As far as gameplay, four players would be a good amount for the size you're describing. Anything more in a level that small could get really congested. Visual style, as long as it's at least 640x480 unscaled, it could really be however you like, although MMX style could be cool. Just don't trace over MM sprites; do the flash style if you'd do that. The attack system sounds like it could work great, I'd keep that how you're describing. So yeah, that's my 2 cents.
  6. I've been working on this for a really long time, and I don't know where to go with it from here. Any suggestions or criticism is welcome! http://myweb.cableone.net/rebelart/poochy.mp3
  7. After playing Elite Beat Agents way more than can be considered healthy, I can't hear any of the songs that are in the game without the "Cha-ching!" noise it makes when you complete a section of the song. Also, I tend to motion out the beats to the song in mid air. What else... My friends and I make general internet jokes all the time, like that the school's internet tubes are clogged. We also tend to mimic Counter Strike animations in random situations, like throwing a flashbang into a room before entering, and crouching and aiming from behind doors. Like others in this thread, we get weird looks, but it's fun doing it.
  8. Nice mix so far! You might want to raise the volume of the percussion just a hair, and something about the synths sounds weird. Maybe try using a wider variety?
  9. I'm looking for a sound you hear on acoustic guitars a lot. It's kind of hard to describe; That squeel-ish sound you hear when the player moves their hand across the strings quickly. In "Without Taking the Jewel" from the Chrono Cross soundtrack, it's very noticeable. Does anyone have a sample of this?
  10. Baby Bowser should totally be one of them.
  11. I'll definetly second that. That would be an awesome ReMix. I'll third that, definitely. That was the first song I looked for when I joined OCR, and I've been wanting a mix of it ever since.
  12. But what exactly is it that we're waiting for to be finished? Is it just Snappleman's Doomsday track? I'm not asking when, just wondering what the hold up is.
  13. Wait, is there going to be something special on the release of 1500? Or is it just the torrent?
  14. Didn't he finish that song? Or is this another song? Whoops. Yeah, that's it. Nevermind.
  15. Dunno if you guys would put it on the site or not, but I still have an old WIP of Flying Battery when Beatdrop was doing the song. It's about 2 minutes long. My AIM is Pogo708 if anyone wants it.
  16. http://myweb.cableone.net/rebelart/smrpg.mp3 One moment I'll love this, then the next I don't like how it sounds at all. I can't decide if it's coming along well or not. The ending part is incomplete, it's just there to kinda show the direction I'm going. Please download, listen, and leave feedback! Thanks.
  17. I don't remember the exact site, but search Google for a program called FreeRip. That does the job very well.
  18. Woo! Just got an email saying my SuperCard and SD Card are shipping. Should just be about a week before I get 'em. Can't wait!
  19. Thanks, that's really useful! It looks like it's nowhere near as hard as I thought it was to flash your DS, I'll probably do this to my new Lite. I figure this is as good of time as any to bump what I said concerning homebrew earlier, as I don't think anyone really saw it... Man, still at least a week before my stuff comes... I want my SuperCard!
  20. So I ordered a flash cart and a passme for running homebrew on my DS, and I was looking around to see what all I could get for it. I stumbled upon this cool little program someone's working on; a full featured tracker, complete with touchscreen support and mic sampling. http://nitrotracker.tobw.net/index.php?cat_id=1 I figured a lot of people here would find this interesting, this being a music arrangement community and all. It looks pretty cool, I'm definitly gonna try this out once everything arrives in the mail.
  21. Battle system reminds me of Grandia. Looks like Chrono Trigger in a way. Count me in. Wow, that looks really good, if not only because of it's resemblence to Chrono Trigger. It looks like they just traced over Crono's sprite in a few parts, but still, it looks awesome. I'm looking forward to this.
  22. Bam! On topic, do any of the songs have vocals? Just curious.
  23. Naked Snake/Big Boss Konami 1986-2005 Background: As a rookie operative in the FOX unit, Naked Snake's first major operation was Snake Eater. Snake's objectives were to rescue Sokolov, a scientist being held captive, and to kill the soldier who had defected to the Soviet Union. After surviving the mission, he was promoted to the title Big Boss, and FOXHOUND was formed. FOXHOUND was a unit of elite operatives that were given missions of top priority. In 1974, Big Boss fell into a coma, during which the Los Infantes Terribles project began. Big Boss would go on to create Outer Heaven, the terrorist facility that was infiltrated and destroyed by his clone, Solid Snake, in the 1980's. Appearances: Metal Gear (NES/MSX) Snake's Revenge (NES) Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake (MSX) Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (PS2) Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistance (PS2)
  24. This is the first project I've actually followed from the beginning, and I can't wait to hear the final thing. S3&K has an awesome soundtrack.
