  1. Haha I like how you're trying to use your own atmosphere to bring the song out more. The recording quality hurts, that's for sure...I really like it though. I noticed in the first version there was some really faint humming, although a tad out of tune I preferred it to the rain that blends so well to poor mic recordings. How are you recording your ukulele by the way? There may be a few recording tricks to improve that quality. I looked through and listened to Bard Owl too, the owls made me laugh man haha but damn, there's something about these light textures that is really appealing to me. In this song everything gets stronger towards the middle and I can hear your technique improve whilst hitting a bum note or two, how long have you been playing? Sorry for going ahead and commenting on that one. Anyway I prefer the first version, I totally think you should get in on that humming and see how soulful you can sound because it just blends so nicely with the ukulele sound. edit - oh yeah I see you posted the barred owl song haha, my bad
  2. Gah! Feels good to get some music out! If I didn't have work, I could play forever! This is a new nes style song I've done, some of it is for part of my work but otherwise I just went and had fun doing this. Anyway enjoy http://8bitcollective.com/music/RoeTaKa/Jive+Ninjas!/
  3. Haha. Yeah Adobe do trials, I didn't get my copy legitemately because I'm a poor student that needs more hands on time than university hours.
  4. I recently did another Nes sounding song, sort of like my previous but harder drums and some added synthesis. I'm hoping to add more to my collection over on the 8bitcollective site. http://8bitcollective.com/members/RoeTaKa/ Hope you enjoy!
  5. Hah! Porn music, yeah I've been there, you put so much work in only for your friends to say they imagine ebony sluts getting it on. Come to mention I guess I can imagine it in a sort of sci-fi setting in a tasty movie... I can't even remember Vectorman's music so I don't know why I mentioned it. As for the drums I think I've heard them somewhere before...I'm taking a wild guess but I don't suppose they are FL's loops done in the fruity slicer? In any case even with that and more soundfont kits etc you can layer and produce the sound into a really solid and unique percussion instrument. Even with the software I use I tend to layer the high quality sounds to get slick new samples. I know what you mean about the fuzzy line input, it's hard to deal with but it can be worked. I don't know if you've used any sound editing software such as Adobe Audition but you can edit the wav recording pretty decently enough to master into the final track.
  6. I don't find the pieces that rough, they're nice and crisp but personally I'd like to hear a classy touch of reverb. Sky Swimmers is really nice to listen to, very relaxing and has a nice progression. I think the beat is too repetitive, and could do with some variety like drum fills or slight variation on the hats/kick/snare. Your bass line is rhythmic enough to create some fun progressions, it could be a little bassier though in the low frequencies. Though yknow what leaving it on repeat the quirks don't bother me much. Really reminds me of something I've played on the Genesis but I can't nail it, possibly something from Vectorman. I also thought the guitar was a nice choice, the sample not great but it felt very comfortably placed. I really enjoy this, great chords, nice melody. I'm The One Runnin' is a little loud, audacity is showing it clipping over 0Db, so you might want to limit the master channel or something. I get a "panic" vibe from the piece, though too charming to be threatening lol. After listening I got the impression that it missed something, like it should need a subtle but noticeable melody. Seriously check out the soundtrack to "Kid Klown in Crazy Chase" for the SNES, that's the first thing that came to mind. I think you're really good, I think you can improve a whole lot with a dash more variety and a sprinkle more on the production. I'll definately listen to Sky Swimmer more often though .
  7. Thank you very much, hah! You're spot on with Vangelis I was listening to the Blade Runner soundtrack before doing that piece and actually wrote that in my documentation., particularly "Spinner Ascent".
  8. One of my projects at university is to create pieces of music based off a selection of literature pieces, art and sound. It's an inspiration project and we could interpret the material as we saw fit. I created two pieces based off an art piece and a sound piece. Feathers and Fins - This is based off an art piece by Escher, with birds and fish in a pattern inside a diamond shape, almost a yin and yang http://www.teachengineering.org/collection/cub_/lessons/cub_images/cub_air_lesson08_activity2_image1.jpg. I wanted to use acoustic instruments, strings and synthesis to create a theme that explored the piece as a whole and individually. Searching for a Star - This is based off a sound piece of a synth creating star like textures, some sort of feedback loop. I wanted to use orcestration and synthesis to create a theme of exploration for space, developing into a theme and being more about discovery. It was a fun project and I really enjoyed making these pieces.
  9. It's a pretty fun mix, the quality loses its edge though. The first glaring thing was the reverb on the beats, you can hear all that room sound which upsets the background so lower the high end release and increase the lower end release so there is bassier reverb, but don't add too much. Check the EQ so that the kick is thick and the snare is punchy, and give the hats some crispness. The piano sounds too tinny, open the Parametric EQ 2 on it and pump up the thicker lower frequency sound. I'm sure you can make that piano sound more humane or interesting through the velocities. Generally the synths sound alright, though they could be EQ'd better with a nicer reverb, I'm not sure if you're using delay on them slightly, but it can give the sound a nice glisten. And I don't get what 2:59 was about with the drop in sound, or was it a compression thing? Anyway those were the biggest things standing out. It's fun and I like it though so I hope you nail those production quirks.
  10. Sounds like something you'd play on Donkey Konga, everything is interwoven spectacularly. I especially like the drum work. I'm pretty sure those are all SampleTank2 samples, you used some of the brass samples really well. I usually hate the ST2 brass samples but you make them work here. I also like the way the blues guitar and 1920 piano come across as really humane.
  11. I think I am gonna go ahead with this album I've got in mind. This would be the second song on it and I'll probably write around 8 more songs of different types of music and such. This song is a heavy big beat style with alot of energy, can't remember the last time I made a song this long but it was lots of fun. http://www.mediafire.com/?k1tgm5dbat1
  12. Such a busy time of the year. Having taken alot of time off music I've gotten to appreciate more styles of music and why I like music so much. I'm thinking of maybe doing an album, with this song in it. So I thought I'd post it here, hope you guys enjoy it. http://www.mediafire.com/?kmyhiknyjyn
  13. Sometimes I just play as the female so I can stare at some hot ass and a girl that is kicking alot of it too.
  14. I've been really hush on projects I've been on so I hardly get much chance to show stuff around and actually get it heard haha. I wanted to post this up, it's one of the tracks from a rap artist's album called JSR. He asked me if he could use some of my old material that I reproduced, which he then worked on and mastered. You might think he sounds a bit like Eminem, but I think it's a bit different haha. The album was released about half a year ago. Anyway I was really proud of this one when I heard the final version. So I hope you guys enjoy! http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?gliqzxz0ywn and this is the guy's myspace if anyone is interested http://www.myspace.com/133847652
  15. This is some crazy good stuff you guys, sections, transitions, so good. The two just work off each other so well, the trumpet really works over your stuff. I love the fucking megaman song your friend is doing every now and then, hahaha quality.
  16. With great and non-remixed soundtracks. ZOE3 is going to be badass and look badass, the things Kojima can pull from machines...I expect some sort of close to Transformers look of graphics.
  17. Haha sick man, sick. The intro sets up so well, what are those pad sounds, it's not Absinth is it? 0:37, such a sexy groove, could listen to that for ages. 1:09, I swear it was you that introduced me to that bitcrushing effect. Loving the little dubstep bass going on throughout too, it's something I've wanted to play around with. 2:50, another sick section man. I would've liked to hear more of stuff like the sections I mentioned but this song is so full of detail and great fun. Ever since Shnabubula started to mention you alot I've been looking out for your material, glad I did.
  18. See everyone loves you man! This is why I don't get one cause im so secretive. Anyways have an awesome birthday man, I miss you already!
  19. I do agree that the music should be handled by a minimum amount of people though. I must be one of the few people that didn't really enjoy SF2HDRemix or the music that much. I have no interest in this project so I'm indifferent to the result, just because it's a game doesn't mean I immediately want to thrust my music into it. Lets be honest the "big" remixers will get involved and really the topic creator should have thought about what he wanted clearly first instead of "free community music".
  20. You would want as much high quality audio as you can get for a project like this. Having an open track list could lead to coherent imbalance and a range of quality and style. A competition would get you the best of what you want where you need it. An arranged site project sounds like a good idea and would provide the fastest and best results.
  21. I missed the party! Happy belated birthday princess, I made a star in the sky in your honour. Rock on K.
  22. Awesome work, the influence shines through and forms a nice coherent sound. I think my two favourites have got to be "The Lonely Farmer", something about that I think is just spot on, and "On the Battlefield", really cool progression for a battle song which is proud without drums, I like that. You can imagine the characters saying something just before it starts like "Bring it on!" or like my favourite battle quote like ever from Star Ocean 2 "10 seconds". "Village in the Clouds" is also a very plesant piece, very somber, you know a song is just right for a game if you can listen to it over and over. When it comes to soundtracks, I generally enjoy just a few songs out of most because they were just ambiguously cool or did something so right, but the rest fit well with the game and they worked. I reckon what you have so far would be enjoyed by alot of people as a whole.
  23. Hah! I totally forgot about this. Thanks guys. Whoa a super famicollab would be nuts Nase, dunno if Shnab would be up for that! I'm game for anything though, like a bisexual of music.
  24. I got tired of using Famitracker after a while, I just wanted to play, I just wanted to play! So I've done another one of them NES'ish songs like Nesty Business which I think is much more fun to do. http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?icwzowjjyun
