  1. Sorry, no. There's no way to convert everything to anything yet
  2. Avast caused many BSODs when I used it, especially during resource-intensive activities such as, say, sequencing music... Antivirus software universally causes more problems than it solves, for me, so I don't run antivirus protection - I'll just run HouseCall every now and then [which usually turns up nothing]. For the general population who absolutely has to open .exe files in their email, I recommend AVG.
  3. Yeah, thanks for like posting it somewhere in the center of the fucking thread list in a sub-sub-sub post anyway I would so hit that
  4. New ansi release d00ds! for your ex!
  5. Not really, I've already been tracking for a few years but yeah it's nice
  6. New Kahvi multi-artist compilation
  7. TRAXINSPACE 2 JUST KICKED IN YO analoq, Garian, mDuo13 and I have accounts already. Another source for free music
  8. Whenever you see an unfamiliar filetype, the best thing to do is to go to filext and see what the hell it is Looks to be a lossless audio codec but it's also the file format for a really really old tracker. If it's the tracker format, you can probably open the file in SBStudio and export the samples that way.
  9. No videogame addiction thread is complete without a link to this video. I think a lot of these "addictions," internet addiction, gaming addiction, etc, should all just be rolled up into one type of "media addiction." In my experience though, it seems more related to a type of depression or sociopathic disorder than anything else. I don't think videogames are inherently "addictive," at least not in a harmful way. I have, however, spent the night playing a brand new game on occasion, starting at, say, 9 PM and then glancing over at the clock to see 4:30 AM. However, I've also been in the same situation with a book, a TV series or anime, and the internet. Which is why I think the root of all these "addictions" is probably the same. Dunno why everyone wants to single out videogames.
  10. Compyfox can type a novel for you to read about this. SHORT VERSION: the mainstream objective for audio production is now for listeners to not need to control the volume at all, and via compression/limiting, make the song as loud as possible and as dynamically "even" as possible, for uhh... some ridiculous reason. The inherent problem in using so much compression and limiting is that the dynamics are GONE. There is no room for frequencies, and it is basically a "wall of sound." You'll notice that if you look at two waveforms, one with no processing and one with maxed out compression, the unprocessed one will have lots of curves and the louder instruments, like drums, will be easily spotted. The compressed version will look like ProTools shit out a brick. The average listener doesn't mind that, though. They like their music loud and dynamics-free. I try to use compression as little as possible, because I fucking hate average listeners [YEAH I SAID IT!!!]. I'll put a compressor on the master track sometimes just so it won't clip, but it won't be anything ridiculous. I wrote too much about it too but it really is a big issue in the audio production industry. Dynamics vs. Loudness WHO WILL WEEEEN
  11. Been listening to Niyaz lately? I can hook you up with some more world music if you want it.
  12. The Fourth Garden This seems to be the style that naturally occurs to me lately. It's kind of a dark, ominous, but groovy tune. All the synths in this song are totally freeware too! I'm gonna try to keep using them, cause I like the sounds in this one. Anyway enjoy! (゚ ー ゚ )
  13. Check the link again in the first post [same url]. It's got about 20 more seconds tacked on to the end, because I brought the drums in again. I felt like that's long enough. I can't seem to make any longer tunes in Renoise so far
  14. Well, it's not really a competition for US because none of us are competing. it's more like a request for votes :V
  15. When you installed Absynth, which folder did you choose for your VST/DX location [i'm not sure if you can just move the Absynth4.dll, since NI probably has all this anti-piracy registry bullshit] file? Make sure FL also knows where that is, then rescan your VST directory and find Absynth. FL's help file should tell you how to do this. [p.s. make a /VST+DX/ folder somewhere easily accesible on your hard drive to store all your VST in! You won't regret it]
  16. Hm, that's weird. I didn't even need to do anything now for some reason. Just installed it and it started working. So how long have I actually been able to play this damn thing? ARGH
  17. Compatibility mode didn't work with MW3 or Age of Empires 2 for me, at least when I tried it, and when I run the games I get an "illegal operation" error. YES I AM STILL LOOKING FOR AN ANSWER TO THIS I will try compatibility mode with AoE2 one more time :3 someone told me once to disable directdraw and it might work. Any truth to this?
  18. but Oblivion didn't use mod music????? The Oblivion OST is still synthetic but not like that anyway, Morrowind midis will probably have some of the original melodies you hear in Oblivion so you can kinda use those.
  19. hey hey hey new idmonster release for mono!
