Old thread, but I wanted to drop in and say thanks for the clarifications and the guide to replacing the battery. Cheers

Its funny how everybody overlooks how badly the air is polluted after a fireworks show. But yes, awesome fireworks are awesome.

huh. I always liked the castle music from Yoshi's Story.

Or at least, these guys think so. http://www.mp3sale.ru/track.php?ms_trackid=421003 I was looking for a direct link to Avien's Noumenon to show somebody, and I stumbled across this. I figured I'd make a thread about it.

A friend of mine had never actually had a computer of his own, so we made a trade. I gave him an old 500MHz machine with 256MB RAM, and he gave me a Nintendo DS with Final Fantasy III and Pokémon Diamond. What's cool is he never played the DS, so both of us felt like we had made a good trade.

So, I have Pokemon Crystal with a fair amount of time spent on it. The in-game clock is becoming wonky- every 24 hours in real life, only about two hours pass in the game. I'm guessing this means the battery is failing. I'd like to know how to replace it without losing game data. A couple of things I'm curious about.. -Do the saved data and the in-game clock run off of the same battery? -Will saved data be retained for a short period after the battery is removed? A couple ideas came to my mind.. the first was wiring a second battery in parallel.. somehow... while I take the dying one out. That way there is a constant source of power. Does that seem viable? Or maybe I could get some black-market device to make a ROM image of this game? Viable? (Ban'd.) Any suggestions would be appreciated. Cheers

Don't waste your money on an amp specifically for a guitar if you're on a budget. The cord coming out of your guitar is just auxiliary output. Get the appropriate adapters and plug it into whatever you listen to CDs on, or anything that already has an amplifier built in. Even cheap computer speakers are amplified most of the time.

Yay, my video game spoof is finally finished!

While I didn't laugh, I did like the dark feel of the movie. Nicely done. -
After watching this video, I had to check out the first one. The thing that impressed me most was how coherent every single idea was and how every single thought flowed seamlessly from one to the other. That's talent.

So Exact Audio Copy confuses me in a couple of ways. I know how to rip as FLAC. You press the "mp3" button off to the left. ... mp3 wut Also, there's a way to compress WAV to FLAC, but when I click decompress WAV, there's no FLAC option... .. wut Thanks in advance.

I'm pretty familiar with Plasma vs. LCD, but would anybody care to explain to me what OLED and DLP are? Along with pros and cons with respect to the others.

I know nothing compared to these guys on this site, but yeah I know what you mean about the ambient sort of windy sound throughout. I recall that it cuts off, though around 2:05. Get an mp3 of the song, import it into Audacity, and select a portion of the wind noise, and do a noise removal. That's the novice method. Better to PM Darkesword, I'd say.

There's a passage in the later Tallon Overworld theme where the whistle is just about the only instrument playing. Try isolating it, and then tweaking pitches and such. Or use it as a model.

Banjo is Back! "Nuts and Bolts" detailed!

I keep hearing things about being innovative and not putting out more of the same old shit, but to be honest, I've never seen a non-linear platformer up to the same par as Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie. I'm ready for some more of that same old shit, because it hasn't really been exhausted at all. All the games I see now highlight combat and guided missions.. to me, that's what isn't very innovative. I think I'm going to just get sick of that vehicle. Warp zones and Kazooie are efficient enough methods of travel. -
You mean this page, right? http://blazemp3.sepwich.com/sonic2remastered/ I have only listened to Oil Ocean on that page as I type this, and I honestly think it would go very well with an HD remake. The levels are enhanced, the music gets enhanced. I hear a lot of people say things like "oh man this ReMix should go in the next ____ game", but they're talking about a totally epic, scored piece that is nice to listen to, but does not go well with a game. I'll use Live at the Sandopolis as an example.. I love that track and it is extremely well done, and it is great to listen to. But it just would not fit with a game. Maybe I'm misunderstanding what's going on as I have not read through this whole thread, in which case, there's my two bits. edit: Now I've read the whole thread. But I still think midi-rips, or a track made from scratch that still emulates the original, is the right direction for the music. With good samples, of course.

Your friend must have a bunch of damn good shit in that box of his to be charging you $700 for it. I'm talking 2 gigs of ram, two big hard drives, and two CD/DVD burner drives or something like that. If not, I think the used computer is a rip-off. I'm partial to desktops just because it's easy to upgrade. If you want to mess with music, you'll want a nice sound card. You'll also want to be able to max out the memory if you can. For college, I'd say just get a cheap, used 500MHz CPU laptop for word processing, and that'll set you back about $100 bucks. So basically, build your own desktop and buy a cheap laptop so you get the best of both worlds.

So somehow I had it set to have just a basic text box. Not sure how it got that way, but that was the problem. Thanks, Doulifée.

The forum skin is the forum default. The weird thing is I have this problem both on my home PC, and on this mac here at school. So it can't be a problem with my computer, I don't think. My home computer uses Firefox at 1280x1024. At schoo, it's the Safari browser, but I'm not sure what the resolution is. It's one of the newer macs where it's just a monitor and peripherals. No box. When I get home, I'll try to remember to screencap what I'm seeing.

This post is actually the first time I've used quick reply. I always go to "Post Reply." There's no obvious smilies on my machine. And I'm not even sure where "advanced" is. I'm either blind, or my layout is weird.

Where the hell are they? There used to be a nice little list off to the side. Now I can't emphasize my bad puns with a tomato to the face. Same with the tag buttons. I liked being able to highlight and just press the IMG button. Cheers in advance.

CD Ripping/burning software for ALL filetypes.

Thanks, I'll have a look into it. -
I've seen that sort of 0-9 quality setting in Nero. Those arbitrary numbers mean nothing to me. I know the difference between 64kbps and 192kbps sound, but what is the difference between 0 thru 9 encoding quality?

A friend and I wanted to drag my speaker system on top of a school building and blare Korobeiniki while raining cardboard tetris blocks on everyone. We decided against it because an ex-security guard said we'd never be able to get the system up there without getting caught.

Nice, I like it. Thanks, Doulifée. Once I remember my photobucket password, it'll suffix my trolls and nonsense. edit: I don't see it under my post. I thought it would apply to all of my previous posts. If I'm doing something wrong, I'll figure it out later.
