  1. BOO-HISS. Needs more BOOOOOOM-TSSSSSSSSSSS.
  2. I read this so wrong the first time.
  3. A lot of music that you hear posted on OCR is in-your-face music - stuff that just leaps up at you and requires an intro, outtro, and a climax. It has a melodic theme and is usually dramatic. It's stuff that you'd hear as "Main theme of ___" for a particular game. This is not one of those pieces. Instead of sticking with a standard, traditional concept, Israfel decided (I guess over two years ago) to do something that develops, but is quite minimalistic. Now, having tried to work with minimalistic work, I find that this is something very difficult to do - to keep a remix interesting, while at the same time building an atmosphere. What you get here is a slow buildup -- it is a looping around of the same theme, building slighty every time until a climax, and then disappearing. It's creepy and the development and layering as the remix goes on is interesting, but the best thing to do here is really just to sit back and listen to it. It is an intelligent mix with a backing motivation (I'm tempted to whip out the ruler and see if this mix obeyed the Golden Ratio) but even if you are a casual listener, just don't think and let yourself get into this mix. It definitely has character. This is not like normal mixes. I recommend this.
  4. Ah, fun stuff here. A lot of people call this song something like pop-trance or something like that... I don't quite understand the classification, but this is definitely something that is upbeat and pumping. It's not quite four-on-the-floor. There's an intereseting mesh of genres here. Lots of stuff going on - there's the breakdown to the awesome AE Metalman tribute (hahah!) maybe a minute into the song, after the brief trance part of the song. There are a few references to the Link's Awakening themes. If there is a low part in the song, it's the drum section starting at 1:53 - the instrumental here is a bit weak and lacks energy. I kind of tuned out in this section, until the nod to the Dark World, which just made me perk up. I expected the comeback to be a bit stronger than it was, as well. The lead (square wave) at the end was a bit flabbier than I would have liked, but was not noticeable enough to detract from the rest of the song. I enjoyed this mix, myself, although I do not think it is among chthonic's strongest. It has above-average production and an average arrangement, but there's nothing that strongly identifies this mix as a "must have". Still - I would recommend it to someone, for at least one listen. This is not bad music by any means.
  5. A friend and I want to join up on an RP server together... my friend wants to be a Gnome character (alliance). When I finish my thesis I'm signing up (probably late October). I suppose that this is the place to go to maximize my connections, then. This is awesome news.
  6. Make a voice clip by recording yourself on an MP3. If you do a good job, then your name might be mentioned. If I had a dollar for every time Rayza, Aurora, or Pixietricks said my name on the show, I think I'd have seven dollars.
  7. Aurora, oh, Aurora... My heart feels broken watching her so distraught. Would you like some fudge?
  8. But I confsessed my adoration for her already. On air. Beat that!
  9. I'm a big fan of this song. Very nicely laid out, with awesome emotive use of the guitar and the synths, here. It's not a particularly complex song, but what it does, it does well. There's a great melody. I enjoy the piano a lot in this one. I don't really know what else to say, here. I know my reviews are normally a bit more detailed and refined than this, but I really honestly do love this song too much. It's grown on me quickly. All I can say, Suzu, you rock, man. Keep making music.
  10. I'm still waiting for my thesis to be done, but I'm so impatient for it...
  11. The shows are already of a decent length and I don't actually think that we need to go looking for more stuff to put on it.
  12. I don't mind listening to the remixers. After all, I can download the song from OCR. I cannot just listen to remixers. However, people are generally right that brevity is important. It's been mentioned before that Darkesword's clip for his Megaman X song was one of the stronger clips because he kept to the point and wasn't all technobabbly.
  13. I hope you were using the demo for Reason if you're going to be abandoning it... If you bought Reason, learn how to use Rewire. That's what SGX does, and everyone wants to be like SGX.
  14. Reason's not really geared toward importing and slicing audio samples. I've never done it myself for a real song, but if I do load up a sample, I prefer using the NN-XT sampler and triggering them in the sequencer. You can use Redrum as well. I prefer the sampler because then you can control for how long the sample goes on for in the sequencer, whereas in the Redrum, when you trigger it the entire sample will play out. Good for short hits, not so good with yor 1-minute vocal track.
  15. AURORADORA PLZ DONT GO DONT LET RAYZA REPLACE YOU I had a dream last night and Aurora was in it. She stopped by my window and asked me why I wasn't ready for the OCR party yet, and then I was like, "OSHITIFORGOT" and then started getting ready for it. And then I woke up.
  16. The introduction is pretty conservative, but it's not a problem for me... because the beats, of course, is what really makes this work, along with the great leads. There is a lot of good use of the motive, a lot of decent interpretive material. Solid work. One thing that I would comment on is that the distorted snares sound very close to my ears - they are very close to the front to the soundscape, which distracts from the mix, but it may be the fact that I listen to most mixes on headphones. This would be the only thing that would bother me about the mix. I found that some of the backing harmony was a bit dirty for my taste as well, but chalk that up to personal preference. I dig the clean piano against the distorted synths, though. Breakdown and the beats at 2:07 are great - lead is awesome at 2:14. Build up and the filtering at 2:53? Sweet touch. Good work here, MaJIN SaN, ambient, and tomatsu. Way to land yourself on OCR's front page!
  17. Check if the "Note On" lights are triggering in your instruments. If they are and you still hear no sound, then double check your audio settings and ensure your driver is selected. If that's all good, then you probably need to do the whole sound driver debugging thing, and if that's the case you will want to try posting more system information.
  18. I posted about Logic and rewiring Reason a while ago, which you've already read about, Zircon... I can get 100+ devices rewired into Logic with no problem. http://www.ocremix.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=23605&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=374 So the problem would seem to be with the host, not with Rewire. One thing that is limiting with Rewire, though (at least in Logic) is that it doesn't seem to do automation data in the host sequencer, as far as I've tried (which hasn't been very much and was at least two months ago). Even then, you can still sequence in Reason itself, and then route all of the audio to the hardware interface, which gets sent to FLStudio so you can do the mixdown. You won't be able to use FLStudio's sequencer to control all of the instruments, but you can still use Reason's sounds. Not nearly as good of a setup, though.
  19. Since Rayza didn't post it, allow me the honour! VGDJ: #016 out now.. http://www.vgdj.net Warning: Explicit Content inside. Really, WTF, iTunes? Shownotes
  20. 1. Reboot. 2. Don't start Reason before starting any other rewire host, and then try to use both programs at the same time. Reason gets confused. 3. If you use a host, and the open Reason, quit Reason completely before exiting the Rewire host. Not shutting down your Rewire Slave before the host is the main cause of this problem.
  21. I'd volunteer (unreliable) hosting. I say unreliable only because I don't want to be responsible for the uptime of your files. If you're okay with that then let me know (PM me) and I'll put them online for you.
  22. Just finished listening. Awesome work. LARRY OJI STUNK UP THE SHOW.
  23. Huh, PvP got tiring, but yet, PvP with your hunter was more frequent and fun?
  24. Turning off Polling will improve performance. That's the experience I had when I ran the FLStudio demo with an SBLive! on a Duron 700 with 1GB RAM.
  25. So does anyone have a WoW Trial for me? Do you need like, the actual CD or can I just enter a code and download a client? I'm thinking of starting up after I submit my thesis, which is in about a month or two.
