  1. Hey all. Made this with FL. Any and all feedback/thoughts would be appreciated on how to improve it or what you'd change, no matter how minor. How are the track volumes/panning/EQ sounding on your speakers? EDIT: newer version with lead baby grand and more notes https://soundcloud.com/jeff-faust-1/coinsongremixpiano3 older version with lead e. piano https://soundcloud.com/jeff-faust-1/chance-aint-always-chance
  2. Hello, I made this arrangement when I bought, for my birthday last year, two "old" synth : a Korg Triton R & a Kurzweil K2000 R. It was the excuse to try the midi sequencing new feature in Ardour3. So, I score the song and edit it in MuseScore, import the midi files in A3 and play the sequence through the Triton & the K2KR, and track the two synth at the same time. Works very well. About the arangement : I try to play with the "frozen in time" feeling that I have when I play the pureland level in SoM. So I use this sort of ClockWork sound to materialize the "time" backgroud that I have in mind, and I associate a crispy EQ + wind sound to create a sort of cold ambiance for the "frozen" idea. Feedback is welcome (don't be to harsh, this is my first participation to OCR ) http://youtu.be/SzhhGefCSzI (I'm not sure about the prefix "ModReview" is this the OK use for asking feedback ?)
  3. Not sure exactly how to define the genre yet, not important right now! Here is the link, click me I couldn't remember how to embed soundcloud player or if it was possible. This is my first time really using these types of orchestra sounds - I came to this forum specifically because of the expertise in the area. Taking all tips/feedback with a grain of salt! Thank you!
  4. https://soundcloud.com/pyro1588/redskies130804 Now that I've submitted my previous work that's been around for nearly 5 years, it's time to start polishing one that's almost as old. This is a mashup of Ace Combat 5's , a tender, heart-wrenching piece that slowly and beautifully builds into a determined march, and two pieces from Bethesda's landmark The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind: The main theme and .As with Deadly Duo, I would appreciate any and all feedback. I learned a lot doing that last piece, and some of those lessons were learned early enough to incorporate into this work. It's not done yet (as evidenced by the cut ending), but it's fairly close. I'm sure it needs work on mixing, so please give me suggestions =)
  5. Well normally I don't post WIPs which are that "new" (I did this in about 3 hours, and normally I'm not that confident), but yesterday I experimented a bit, and this came from it, yes it's short, yes it still needs work, but I'd like to know what you think of the basic concept. https://soundcloud.com/yaminokeshin/blue-flames-wip-v1
  6. Could be something other than hip hop. I havent posted any remixes in the workshop lately, so ill share this ReMix of " The Star Stealing Girl" from the Chrono Cross OST. The last 10 seconds is just filler for now. Probably some Groove tweaks in there to fix. https://soundcloud.com/jesse-mitchell-3/fear-notstar-stealing-girl-wip
  7. Hi I'd like you guys to critique a remix I made of "Kefka theme" (Final Fantasy VI). I'm a fellow remixer with my own style and use FL Studio. I'd like some suggestions as to how I can improve my skills. A few words on the mix are,"This is a trance remix of "Kefka Theme" (Final Fantasy VI) that I mixed with some of my own music. For something different I incorporated bells into it and did this in honor of The Joker, Kefka, and Adachi (Persona 4). Hope you enjoy this." I'm a beginner and hope you all have a nice day. Remix can be found at http://www.mediafire.com/listen/vc4gofft7egsgon/Bells_of_Kefka.mp3
  8. Hi all, I recently made my first original song, and I'd like some input on it. Any input, be it negative (but make it constructive please) or positive is greatly appreciated! It's pretty much complete but if there's anything I can do, which I'm willing to bet there's a great deal of things, then I will try to do so. It's a simple, slow ballad(?) with piano, cello and violin. I don't know if there's much else I can say about it... I used my electric violin since I don't have a good enough microphone to record an acoustic one. I used reverb and EQ to try and make it sound more like an acoustic violin. Have a listen and let me know what you think. Thanks. ^^ https://soundcloud.com/omegametroid93/first-original
  9. Hey all. I've been making music for years but I still consider myself pretty amateur in the sense that I don't know too much about production, I just sort of tend to randomly move a few knobs around until I get something that sounds ok. I'm currently working on a soundtrack for a game that I'm developing, I think it is some of the best work I've ever done but... the bass definitely feels off to me: https://soundcloud.com/andrew-nee/sets/untitled-video-game-soundtrack Is it too low in the mix? It's tough for me to tell, to be honest, because A. I'm making this stuff on a system without much bass so I barely hear anything either way and B. Even when I work on it on a system with better bass and try to compare it to other music, I lose context very quickly. Also, it seems that when I pull it much higher it sound of turns the songs a bit muddy. Is that a frequency issue? I have no idea?! I'm sort of beating my head against a wall with the bass issue. I keep trying a variety of different VSTs and such and can't find anything that feels right. The one that I used on the songs above is at least close to the sound I want, just something simple and straightforward, but it still feels off. I know a lot of people say just record your own bass, but I sort of suck at guitar and I don't have the equipment (or money to buy it) to record right now anyway. I'm open to suggestions about everything else too... composition, my other instruments, you name it, but to be honest I have WAY too much to do on the game itself to keep spending so much time on the soundtrack, so I consider the soundtrack "almost done" at the moment. Just want to get it polished up a bit, and the bass is the main thing that sticks out as feeling "off" to me at the moment...
  10. https://soundcloud.com/nosoup4you/first-descent Hey all, here's my first attempt at video game music. I've been writing songs for years, but never tried something like this before. I'm going for a dark RPG vibe like Baroque, with some Squaresoft influence of course. There's some things I'm not satisfied with yet, but I dunno. I've lost some enthusiasm for it at the moment. Writing over this rhythm and set of chords was hard... In particular, I wanted distinctive melodies, but they came out more as solos. I'm not sure if it's too dense or busy for a looping track... Maybe it would get annoying after 20 listens. I dunno. The production might also be messy later on. Just playing with some new choir samples. And if anyone could direct me to a better trumpet library than Komplete, that'd be swell... ha.
  11. Well, if you saw the Jazz moniker and still clicked on this, I commend you for your open-mindedness. So This Title is "Walking like a Star" Its the Starman Theme, slowly backing some jazzy Underground Theme. Submitted this way back (overridden), however it was really striped down back then. So TBH I think everything in the background sounds smooth, however the improv piano and some of the guitar parts perturb me, leading me to the conclusion that this might be best suited to a collaboration, perhaps with a more versed jazz musician? just a thought; what are your thoughts? https://soundcloud.com/daniel-lesuer/walking-like-a-star
  12. Hi! This isn't a direct remix of any particular song from Sonic, it's mostly just inspired BUT there may be elements of references from the soundtrack For this song, there is a direct reference to some lead guitar from SA2. https://soundcloud.com/ihandsomedevil/sonic-boom-theme-song-2014-original Sorry for the lack of mixing knowledge on my behalf. I never had time to make music, but only recently have I got to sit down and I managed to make about 4 songs for my custom Sonic Adventure album. I hope my mixing catches up with what I'm striving to reach. Also, I don't have a real guitar so I use a virtual guitar and well, you know how that goes This Way Out ...for Prison Lane Maybe? There's a few songs from the album that have that set of notes.
  13. Hey all, Just workin' on another remix. I'm not sure if I'm comfortable with the beginning of this one yet, and I'm certain I don't know how I want to end it (it cuts off very quickly at the end). Anywho, I experimented with a lot of different sounds on this one. Let me know what you think! https://soundcloud.com/kruai/stranger-i-remain-remix-wip/s-wB2D2 Thanks for listening
  14. https://soundcloud.com/xsquader/night-time-preview-version I haven't had a PC in a while and this is my first work in a long time. Don't hit me too hard with constructive criticism but useful criticism may prove useful, especially since I am rusty
  15. So, there have been a couple variations of this mix/parody , each in a different direction, but all have coalesced together into a mix that....well......not sure. I wanted to combine Devo with 60's Surf, glitch, Mario, counting and Gloria Estefan........well maybe not that last one, whatever here's the mix. Remix- https://soundcloud.com/daniel-lesuer/its-a-series-of-tubes-1
  16. Hey guys I wrote a different style song this time. I went for something a little darker. I hope you like it! http://youtube.com/watch?v=R8ArSG3N0Tw
  17. Actually, it's a mashup between both Professor E. Gadd and Gameboy Horror. I'm a DJ first, and a Producer second, and this is by far a DJ track. To be honest, I have no real aspirations of submitting the track as an OC Remix track as it's too close to the source material (even though it still differs in many ways), but would love to hear feedback from the community that deals in such music. I'm doing it specifically for a "Super Replay" themed album (Game Informer) that is going to include samples from their Replays (LPs) as well as some rapped vocals. The other tracks are going to be more heavily produced, but this one I wanted to keep intact due to their direct mention of it and how it sounds like a "90's Gangsta Rap" track. So that's what I'm making it into. Anyways, here's the track: http://wolf4life.bandcamp.com/track/luigis-funk-boogie-instrumental And the Source: Like I said, I don't expect to submit it, I'm just looking for opinions. And seeing what you guys would think about having rap vocals over-top of it.
  18. Here's a remix of Mining Melancholy that I've been working on for the past month. I've heard my remix so many times, I can't think of anything else to do. I'm not too hot on my lead synth, and I feel like parts of the track are a bit muddy. Also not sure about the volume. All feedback is welcome. Let me know what you think! Remix
  19. Orchestral rendition of the Everquest theme - still early days, just working things out. I absolutely love this original piece of music, despite being a UO guy Enjoy https://soundcloud.com/ellywu2/everquest-theme-wip
  20. Well, this is my first time posting a very early WIP so that I progress further in remixing. I'm new to having a whole lot of people look at a song/WIP that I did. I’ve been composing in Notation Software (MuseScore) for 8 months, and have been using Reaper for 10 days now. The name that fits this mix so far is Dream Bubble. This is a remix of 2 songs: 1. Kirby Returns to Dreamland (The Arena: Lobby): 2. and the 3DS Nintendo Zone Jingle, It can be heard at 00:23-26 in this video 3. Short Motif: Kirby Crystal Shards (File Select) at 00:19. The first source is the same as the Save Hut from Kirby Superstar; but, I want to list this game as the source. (This game has amazing music by the way). When I first heard the jingle I started to alter it, and then my mind automatically meshed the Kirby song with it. Dream Bubble: http://soundcloud.com/cosmic-sounds-1/dream-bubble Update: (7/6/2013)
  21. Hey guys I wrote a new song that I would like your opinion on. I feel that I am starting to find my voice and style. Tell me if you like it! http://youtube.com/watch?v=mRpGUH2GSFk Thanks!
  22. I started composing this as a "birthday tune" as this year it seems I share my age with MegaMan's I'm planning it to be my first submission to OCR. Here's a small snippet of it. Veeery small :3 https://soundcloud.com/robkta/monsieur-mega-megaman-bass
  23. So I'm going to be working on an EP/album thing after a couple of people have suggested me to! Super excited to start writing loads of new music with an interesting purpose. Not sure what kind of music I'll have on it (most likely just the standard sort of orchestral-y ambient-y kind of stuff I usually make) just yet but I decided to start on the first track early before I begin all of the heavy lifting in summer with some larger and more full sounding orchestral and solo piano tracks. Anyway, this is the first minute of The Halcyon Steppe (title might also be a work in process, but we'll see). This utilises a lot of the new software I've acquired recently for strings and woodwind, and - while I haven't got around to doing everything completely properly yet - I've put a lot of additional care in individual instruments instead of just as a cluster like I usually do. Feedback would be appreciated!
  24. Hey guys. I love Snatcher's tunes so hard, partic this track. So I'm remixing her to bits! Here's how I'm going. If you got thoughts, make them into words https://soundcloud.com/tobosaurus/i-dont-know-who-i-am-anymore Hoora
  25. source: (talking over the video, gonna have to upload the source myself. it's the first song that plays though.)mix: https://app.box.com/s/1mogx7xl4iy6dauug7jp (only like 1:00 so far) So literally because my old computer crashed... and the computer that i was putting all my projects on being sold without knowing.. I was literally left with nothing from my past few WIP's D: no inspiration or care to make any music lately besides the srcz too, but this is something interesting i started after hearing the source. it's fun so far. enough bloggy stuff, about the mix: I'm really wanting to bring a strumming acoustic guitar into this, and possibly even electric lead, but those are hella hard to make without a good sample. but the strumming guitar is coming along nice. Just gotta EQ it right or find a better sample. still can't figure out why the heck that little pop is happening in the render when the bell starts, but it'll be figured out hopefully by the next update. Also it's pretty bright for some reason, i think i left a master track on in the render but it's close to what it'll sound like in the final. there'll be an update by the end of the week. this one seems like it's gonna flow like a river.
