  1. OC ReMix & Nintendo Force present The Impact of Iwata! August 27, 2024 Contact: press@ocremix.org ATLANTA, GA... OverClocked ReMix today released its 79th arrangement album, The Impact of Iwata. The album pays tribute to Nintendo's fourth president, the illustrious Satoru Iwata (1959-2015). Featuring 16 tracks by 40 artists, the album is the audiobook soundtrack & music supplement to Nintendo Force's first book, penned by editor-in-chief Lucas M. Thomas, The Impact of Iwata. Directed by OC ReMixer TSori, The Impact of Iwata album is available for free download at https://iwata.ocremix.org. The Impact of Iwata includes a diverse roster of musicians honoring the celebrated programmer, mentor, executive, and public face of Nintendo by arranging 18 soundtracks in a variety of styles, including rock, pop, orchestral, jazz, chiptune, funk, new age, and more. The Impact of Iwata was made by fans, for fans, and is not affiliated with or endorsed by any game publisher or developer; all original compositions, artwork, characters, and logos are copyright their respective owners. "Our lineup of ReMixers is a who's who of great talent on OCR from established veterans to incredible newcomers," noted album director TSori. "Each of them was very excited about the project and it shows in their ReMixes. I have no words to describe just how impressed I have been with the music on this album, so I will let it speak for itself." Visual artists from around the world and throughout the entertainment industry teamed up with Nintendo Force to provide artwork for the Impact of Iwata book's cover and each of its 16 chapters, including pieces touching on several of the titles represented in the corresponding album. The album's coverage of Iwata-related games includes: Balloon Fight Brain Age Dragon Warrior (Dragon Quest) EarthBound (Mother 2) Eggerland Mystery Kirby's Adventure Kirby's Dream Course The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Mach Rider Nintendo Direct Pokémon SoulSilver Version Pokémon Pinball Super Mario Bros. Super Metroid & Metroid Prime Super Smash Bros. Melee, Brawl & Ultimate; and Wii Sports. The Impact of Iwata album release also celebrates the 30th anniversary of EarthBound -- the SNES classic Iwata famously rescued after a difficult development process -- and is OC ReMix's second memorial tribute to Satoru Iwata, following the community's 2015 EP, Heart of a Gamer. "Everyone brought their A-game to this project, and it is not only a worthy companion to Lucas's excellent book, but also a fantastic and fitting tribute to Satoru Iwata himself and the role he played in our lives," observed album director TSori. "We hope you enjoy the products of this unique partnership between OverClocked ReMix and Nintendo Force as we all celebrate the Impact of Iwata!" About Nintendo Force Nintendo Force is a spiritual successor to Nintendo Power, the legendary Nintendo print magazine that ran from 1988 to 2012. Editor-in-chief Lucas M. Thomas assembled a team of great Nintendo-loving journalists, writers, and artists to create a new magazine that would pick up Nintendo Power's torch and carry it forward into the future! The first issue of Nintendo Force Magazine was published exactly one month after Nintendo Power got unplugged. Over more than a decade -- from Fire Emblem Awakening to The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and everything in between -- Nintendo Force has covered it all, across dozens of different issues, with a new one published every two months. Subscriptions for Nintendo Force Magazine are handled at Patreon.com/NintendoForce, and back issues are sold in the store at NintendoForceMagazine.com! ### Preview it: https://youtu.be/OcUdu3r9lcY Download it: https://iwata.ocremix.org Full album on YouTube: https://youtu.be/INPb0XRBZFo Torrent: https://iwata.ocremix.org/downloads/The_Impact_of_Iwata.torrent Comments/Reviews: http://ocremix.org/community/topic/54157
  2. OC ReMix Presents Final Fantasy VIII: SeeDs of Pandora! May 8, 2023 Contact: press@ocremix.org FAIRFAX, VA... OverClocked ReMix today released its 78th arrangement album, Final Fantasy VIII: SeeDs of Pandora. The album pays tribute to Final Fantasy VIII, released by Square in 1999 for the Sony PlayStation. Featuring 80 tracks from 97 artists, SeeDs of Pandora is the OC ReMix community's largest-ever album, directed by OC ReMixers Darkflamewolf and Jorrith "Jorito" Schaap, and is available for free download at https://ff8.ocremix.org. SeeDs of Pandora includes a diverse roster of musicians honoring composer Nobuo Uematsu's classic second score from the Final Fantasy PS1 lineup -- boasting some of the series' most enduring themes, including "Eyes on Me" and "Fithos Lusec Wecos Vinosec" -- by arranging the soundtrack in a myriad of styles, including folk, rock, jazz, mariachi, pop, bebop, rap, metal, EDM, chiptune, new age, experimental, and loads more. SeeDs of Pandora was made by fans, for fans, and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Square Enix; all original compositions are copyright their respective owners. Our goal is to provide something new and transformative with these songs", declared album director Darkflamewolf, who previously directed OCR's tributes to Skies of Arcadia (Arcadia Legends) and Jet Force Gemini (Mizar Attacks!) before helming SeeDs of Pandora. "So go in with an open mind and know that this listening experience was carefully crafted to take you on a journey". Visual artists from Game-Art-HQ once again teamed up with OCR -- a collaboration first forged with the Final Fantasy IX: Worlds Apart album -- to provide full album artwork, including pieces for SeeDs of Pandora's five discs featuring FF8 locations as well as character art including Squall, Rinoa, Zell, Seifer, Laguna, and more. "We managed to interest a lot of people from the VGM community, with a good mix of OC ReMix veterans, people from other communities, and newcomers", explained album co-director Jorrith Schaap, instrumental in helping SeeDs of Pandora become OC ReMix's biggest community album collaboration, resulting in 5 1/2 hours of music. "I hope all the fun and joy we had while creating this album for you shines through, and that you, dear listener, enjoy this fresh new take on the music of Final Fantasy 8 as much as we enjoyed making it." SeeDs of Pandora completes OC ReMix's tributes to the mainline Final Fantasy series' Sony PlayStation entries, following 2007's Final Fantasy VII: Voices of the Lifestream and 2015's Final Fantasy IX: Worlds Apart. "Coming back to the series after being gone from it for so long was like coming home", director Darkflamewolf added, along with their hope that SeeDs of Pandora may "rekindle your fond memories of your time playing Final Fantasy VIII". 3. Hi all, I'm proud to announce that my latest album, "Metroid: Organ Transplants" has entered the final stage of video production and is about to be released on Youtube, ContreBombarde and as free downloadable CD/DVD images around the New Years Day. What started out as an "accidental recording", over the past two months has grown into a personal tribute to the most stunning orchestral OC remixes attributed to the Metroid franchise: My third orchestra+organ play-along album contains nine OC remixes by various artists, all of them in a similar style, as if the original composers would have had a silent agreement that, one day, these pieces were intended to be put together. The glue between all of the tracks is suggested by the album title — they're all enhanced and backed by a three-manuals French-Romantic Cavaillé-Coll pipe organ, which I added on top by playing along in two live sessions (yes, I love plays on words, hence the album title). This adds even more drama, gravity and a bunch of particular highlights. Since the additional pipe organ track was recorded in 7.1 surround, the original OC remixes, which served as the re-remixing basis, were also upgraded to 7.1 to fit the setup. The recording and mixing process, credits research, video material research, storybook and composition, album art, media production, etc. took about three months of spare-time work — definitely my most ambitious project so far and an interesting first contact with DAWs in general and Ardour 6 in particular. The album will be available for download via my discography at http://en.wpoa.de/WPOA-MOT as a stereo CD image, as a DVD image with both a 5.1 surround sound and a 2.0 stereo track including a full 45min video cut of Metroid gameplay, cutscenes and artwork created by other people on the web (let's call it "the movie cut"), in lossless FLAC format with 7.1 channels (the "golden master") and will be accompanied by PDFs with cover/inlay/label artwork, separately for both the CD and DVD, which I put together for personal hardcopies that I usually give away to friends and family as a gift. Track list: Putting Down On Zebes (by @Protricity, part of https://ocremix.org/album/3) Footprints On Zebes (by @Slimy, https://ocremix.org/remix/OCR03306) Kraid Begins (by @AJiLe, https://ocremix.org/remix/OCR01890) The Crimson Depths, (by @Sam Dillard, https://ocremix.org/remix/OCR02275) Into The Green World (by @Sam Dillard, https://ocremix.org/remix/OCR02515) Beyond The Glass (by @Sam Dillard, https://ocremix.org/remix/OCR02927) Mother Brain Suite (by @beckett007, https://ocremix.org/remix/OCR01675) The Galaxy Awaits (by @Nutritious, https://ocremix.org/remix/OCR01804) Mission Complete: Ending Suite (by @Sam Dillard, https://ocremix.org/remix/OCR02648) The following album teaser video is available on my channel. Once the release is prepared, this thread will be updated with the final link to the YouTube premiere of the full album video (stereo only, since YT still doesn't support surround sound in their audio tracks). I'm eager to know what you think about it -- and, hopefully, I'm going to meet at least some of the original remixers at the premiere! Hope you'll enjoy the show!
  4. Dear OCR community, I have a small Youtube channel which features VGM focused on old DOS or retro games (Lands of Lore, C. Keen, Major Stryker, etc., see this link). Since 2017 we (my buddy and I) have been working on a full album of original independent and alternative rock music Wuxpoint, and we have our debut album out today on all mainstream platforms. This album features invited independent artists, some instrumental tracks, and a mixture of influences like electronics, acid-jazz, funk and beyond. We heavily used iconic analog hardware devices (Mesa Boogie, Bogner, SSL 4000, Roland Space Echo, old Eventide units, etc.) throught all the production process, resulting in a "retro" sound. The Single preceding this album is currently on airplay on 9 community radios in 3 countries (US, FR, LUX). If you'd go for some VGM feeling, I'd suggest you first check the following tracks: A raindy day (ambient electro) Downtown trip (outrun-like, driving your car near the coastline with some twists) Uptown mystery (P&C mystery rock puzzle) Farewell (acid-jazz vibes, Keen stuff) Recycled minicycle (Boss fight in hardware mode, including different boss patterns) Enjoy it at the following links: ??????? https://open.spotify.com/artist/4lquyxfpbX8y75TuhJ9iV2 ?????? https://www.deezer.com/fr/artist/156634612 ????? https://music.apple.com/fr/artist/wuxpoint/1603565072 ??????? https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCnB-EzFSBR4od4werfrENqA Thanks dear OCR Community!
  5. DDRKirby(ISQ) here with my latest original release, All in a Day's Work 5! One Hour Compo (better known simply as "OHC") is a weekly composition competition event hosted at http://compo.thasauce.net. The premise is simple: at a certain time each week, a theme is announced, and entrants are given exactly one hour to produce a song from scratch based on that theme. "All in a Day's Work 5" is the fifth installment in the "All in a Day's Work" series. The concept is the same as always: I've taken 24 songs that I've written for OHC and compiled them into a single album, literally the product of 24 hours of work. All 24 tracks are presented exactly as they were submitted for OHC without any post-editing. The album download includes a PDF full of detailed liner notes that you can check out for more info on each of the tracks! Download now from Bandcamp (pay what you want): https://ddrkirbyisq.bandcamp.com/album/all-in-a-days-work-5 Physical release also available!

  7. Sup everyone! Super happy to announce that my Kickstarter-doublefunded anime soundtrack album, "Beyond Libra", has been released AND we're having a listening party tonight!! For those unfamiliar, this was an album of original music I wrote over the last 8 years, with lots of stylistic references to composers such as Yoko Kanno, Jo Hisaishi, and Yasunori Mitsuda. I collaborated with several OCR artists on this one, including Jeff Ball, DrumUltima, Jillian "Pixietricks" Aversa, Sixto, Finbeard, Harmony, Audiofidelity, XPRTNovice, Shrack, Snappleman, and Jose the Bronx Rican. We also had three different live choirs (The Philadelphia Boys Choir, The Yale Slavic Chorus, and a Nigerian vocal ensemble) and live orchestra, along with artwork by Keiiii and Star Wars artist Stephen Chang, so it was a gargantuan production across three continents. Kickstarter backers who opted for the digital release should have already received their copy via an emailed bandcamp code; Physical copies will be mailed off later today and tomorrow. The album is available at https://rogetmusic.bandcamp.com/album/beyond-libra for the full release with all our gorgeous disc art, and it'll be available on iTunes, Spotify, and several others soon as well. Listening party will be on Wednesday, March 9th (ie. today) at 10pm EST (7pm PST), courtesy of 8bitX: www.twitch.tv/8bitx Scott Porter (SeattleOvercoat) will host the show, and I'll answer questions and give behind-the-scenes anecdotes about the album's production. Sorry for the short notice, but I hope you guys can make it!
