  1. https://youtu.be/DFi1biixRFY It took some guts for me to start creating this. The song is kinda hard and I wanted to stay really close to the original since it's already so good and chill. Everytime I see or read something about Secret of Mana this song pops up in my head instantly along with Into The Thick if It (which I might actually do soon as well). My biggest challenge with this one was the drums, both rhythmically and soundwise. I tweaked, adjusted EQ, tone, and kind of everything else. But I'm happy how they turned out! Also that marimba lines, it took a while to find a good base instrument from which I modified to this current sound. It wasn't actually a marimba sound, it was more like a typical electronic pluck sound. However, it turned out quite good as well. I kept many of the instruments at a "dry" level, took away most reverb and delay, except from the lead melody. And then my fatter synthwave parts where the reverb and delay peaks at huge levels. I love reverb I also put an overdrive effect onto the bass which gave more life, more dang and way more punch. I liked that a lot and will be reusing that one a lot in future remixes! It was pure joy creating this one, I really love the original and hope you like it too, the orignal as well as my remix.
  2. Hi everyone, First-timer here, I wanted to share this with you a long ago, now is the time.. This soundtrack/project is very special and dear to my heart about a game that I love so much: Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure ~Arranged Soundtrack~ Now remember, this game has no official Soundtrack, and that includes all versions (PC, SCD, SNES, GEN, JAG, etc...), my favorite is the SNES, followed closely by the Sega CD which is slightly a remix/high quality take on it It's not a Soundtrack that everyone remembers, for sure, it's not up there with the greatest or the most iconic OSTs, but, for some reason, I love it so much, that I was looking for the official release for years in vain, so I took upon myself, as a composer and a gamer, to create a real Soundtrack for the game, with modern instruments, longer arrangements, combining 2 versions, so basically Remixes! This playlist here contains the Super Mega Mix tracks that are a modern combination of the SNES versions with many elements from the amazing Sega CD/PC version, they are long on purpose I also did a "Making Of" documenting my story with the game and the creation of this Arranged Soundtrack, and a you can also find the SNES versions (shorter tracks based solely on the SNES soundtrack) all in my Youtube channel if you like Truly an underrated game and an underrated soundtrack for sure, that needs more love ! Thanks;
  3. https://youtu.be/w6l0ClbHUNo First thing, I actually mained Sagat for a while in SFIV when it was new, back in 2009-2010 ish. Loved that round house kick into ultra, and man did he hit hard. He was really strong in vanilla SFIV. Before starting this project on Sagat's theme I remembered since I was a kid that this song had this odd time signature, meaning you can't keep diggging to it like those straight beat songs. This goes into one of the most unusual time signatures ever heard in a video game song - 11/8. I knew from start that I was gonna change some chords here and there and keep the melody true to the original. I also knew I wanted to use the sharp marimbas I used in Distant Thunder (Secret of Mana). This is therefore applied here and there in this remix. This theme has a nice ambient touch to it, I love the pluck played in the background during most parts of the song. I found a pad sounding like a soft ambient horn which I modified to playing chords in some of the calm parts, and also remodified it to play some cool melody parts, for example the very last notes you hear in this remix. It took a while to put this together, not only because of the odd time signature, but also because the original is not very varying. I know I have done a lot with other songs without variation, but it was harder thanks to this time signature. Every bar is longer and the melody and ideas didn't come very natural (much easier with normal bars in time signatures like 4/4 or 3/4). But enough with that time signature, yes it did affect a lot. /Neon X
  4. https://youtu.be/0FhaA3-XSgw Hello! I have some music from a project I did a while ago that I'd love some feedback on if they're a good fit for submission to this site. I made a total of 20 covers for a Celeste mod called Quickie Mountain 2, which was directly inspired by the SMW kaizo hack Quickie World. I tried to get out of my comfort zone with the genres I chose for the covers, and as a result I know that some of tracks are a little too out there to hold up outside the context of the game. However, here is the first level's track that I think is a fun take on the classic tune. For this track, I was inspired by the growing definition of "digital fusion" and some of the silly, care-free jam sessions that sometimes you just get lucky enough to record. It's a piece that I rarely heard covered, and even though it's a bit of a departure from the original I still tried to keep all of the core elements of the original arrangement. Anyways, enjoy! Bean~
  5. https://youtu.be/1tdyZBwyn5c Believe or not but the main funky groove in this remix is inspired by Bruno Mars' song 24K Magic. This makes my second modern pop inspired remix, but of course there are several other inspirational sources that goes in this remix as well. Yoshi's Island music always trigger a great deal of memories for me since I got this game for christmas 1995 or 1996 when it was more or less new. I was in 5th or 6th grade and jeez, me and my little brother played it for hours and hours that christmas holiday. This is a game I always will come back to and make remixes from. There are some new stuff and instruments I've never did/used before here (I love experimenting with sounds and harmonies): At 2:08 I use a "chiptuney" (sinewave) organ that's similar to an instrument used in the original OST of Yoshi's Island. And I wrote it in a classical/sacral harmony. Speaking of classical, the part starting at 1:03 is very inspired by classical music and sort of requiem. And when the solo comes in at 1:21 it's like a neo classical solo with similarities to the guitar virtuoso Yngwie J Malmsteen. One last thing to mention is at the end of each solo where I used 64th notes juggling one octave and meanwhile playing a melody/scale, I wanted to capture some of the music you can hear on Commodore 64, NES and Game Boy. And there are two sampled sound effects from the game, can you find them? I'm not often do this, but I actually picked up the tempo from the original 100 bpm to 105, it felt too slow for my remix. I tried 110 bpm but that went way too fast instead xD Anyway, I hope you can enjoy this remix and that it brings some sweet memories to you! Cheers, Neon X
  6. A little piano cover of the title theme of the SNES version of Sim City. It will always be my favorite version of Sim City. The nintendo soundtrack had something very special and comforting about it.
  7. pianocover of "water world" from Donkey Kong Country 3, originally composed by Eveline Novakovic/Fischer for the Super Nintendo. I wanted to do a pianoversion of this song for a long time, diving into it I was very surprised of the twisted chordprogressions and classical influences this piece must have had. Playing the Donkey Kong Country series on the SNES is one of my fondest memories of my childhood. Hope you like it ??
  8. A little remix I did of the intro of a Super Nintendo video game called Top Gear 3000. I loved playing this game and I think everyone that also enjoyed it can agree, the music was pretty awesome. I just had fun with remixing it since music is a hobby of mine. I was hoping to give it a darker feel to try to hype up the listener and put you in the seat of an alien death race. Haha. Well I hope you enjoy and let me know what you think!
  9. Hi guys! I'm back with a second remix.. As with the first one (Donkey Kong Country - Aquatic Ambiance // A Journey Through Grand Oceans), it is a lenghty track. Motivated by a few twists and turns which hopefully will keep the listener interested all the way. The style is electronic and instrumental, alternating between a bass/trap/hiphop-ish beat (?) and a slow house groove. Kind of. Sooo.. ready for review <3 I would love to lend someones ears to hear the mix/mastering of this one. Does it sound good overall? Anything I could change? Many thanks in advance. Dropbox link: Removed! Scroll down for the full track. Original tune: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g-s-VQBoUdc
  10. Here is my remix of Anything But Tangerines. I used only instruments taken directly from the SNES and Genesis versions of the game, then mixed them in a DAW. It was quite the ordeal unscrambling the crazy sound channels in the SNES version, but that's a video for another day.
  11. Jurassic Park 2, The Chaos Continues is one of the harder games on the Super Nintendo, for all the right reasons. Graphics may not be top notch but the controls are sharp. 2 things stood out to me as a young gamer about this game, the early cinematic cut scene with voice work (one of the first or only for SNES, at least as far as I have seen), and the music. I love OCRemix. I have been using this site for years and occasionally I use the forums (since I'm not a musician, all I could contribute is artwork). One thing I keep hoping to finally see amongst all the Final Fantasy, Mario, and Zelda remixes are these little gems. There is not one remix for JP2: The Chaos Continues. This game is rich with a soundtrack that explores many different locations. From jungle, to industrial buildings. I would LOVE to see remixes from this game, if not a whole album (its a smaller soundtrack, consisting of 14 or so tracks, most of which are the smaller tracks like "game over"). There is a wide range of music to explore for remixers. Personally I would love to hear darker, industrial tones, tribal drums and sounds that forebode imminent death, and perhaps a mix of heavy/power metal and/or orchestra when needed. I have included a selection of songs from the game. Here are descriptions to help paint the scenario in your mind as the music plays, Seek and Destroy has Alan Grant running through a fiery volcano to track down the raptor nest and gas it. Fire pillars erupt, Dimorphodon take flight, and watch out for a Triceratops who might charge for you. Escape the Volcano within a few minutes before Alan Grant is burned to a crisp, buried underground with the very creatures he once excavated. High Ptera brings Alan Grant to a giant cliiffside as he navigates through caverns and rock walls while avoiding Pteranodon and Dimorphodon to disable a satellite. Protect the Gallimimus as armed Biosyn personal try to airleft dinosaurs from a large Serengeti-type expanse ; armed troops and military grade helicopters fire and bomb Alan Grant. Blockade takes Alan Grant indoors to Jurassic Park's control rooms for a mission as he climbs through power generators, fans, steaming pipes, and some Biosyn guards stealing data and information on dinosaur genetic cloning. Dark Jungle is most likely the first stage song you hear as it kicks off all jungle levels like Raptor Attack and T-Rex Carnage. Haunting drums and whistles of a world unknown. T-Rex Carnage takes place as you leave the "dark jungle" and jump on a Jeep Wrangler while a hungry T-Rex gives chase. Biosyn soldiers fire on you from treetops but if you stop emptying your gun on the unkillable Tyrannosaur, you wil be eaten. Watch out though, for you must abruptly jump off your jeep, as it plummets into a chasm, hoping to grab a vine out of the T-Rex's biting range. Raptor Attack and Alan Grant is in a darkly lit underground power facility. Poison the raptors and Spitters, get the power rebooted, and get out before.... Lethal Gas is poisoning the dinosaurs and you must get Alan Grant outside as the time runs down before it kills him, too. SEEK AND DESTROY, ESCAPE THE VOLCANO, HIGH PTERA, PROTECT THE GALLIMIMUS, BLOCKADE, DARK JUNGLE, T-REX CARNAGE (looping), RAPTOR ATTACK (titled lethal gas), LETHAL GAS There have been a few covers of the soundtrack. Literally, only a few. Notable to me is DonutDrums who has recorded 2 covers in a 3 year window. Here are links to his covers to these songs which features montages of him playing the different parts. Dark Jungle (2015 cover), Blockade (2014 cover) I would love to see what the brilliant artists of OCReMix can do. Please, and thank you! And, if an album might be doable, I would like to throw my hat in to do the artwork for said album
  12. This is it: Our final demo track is a tribute to the man who composed your childhood, Koji Kondo, with a medley of different pieces from various stages of his career. I am sure you will get the songs featured, right? We tried to approach the jazzy feel of his orchestrations by having our tribute in a similar overall feel, that we hope pleases your ear: Please leave feedback and like and share our FB page to expect more cover versions soon: www.facebook.com/remembercitadelband/ Rock On, RemCit
