cobaltstarfire
fuck difficulty and costI just want HD 2D why would HD 2D have to be sprites anyway I suspect going to have to change my definition of what a sprite is to understand how something that isn't the background or stage whether it's 2D or 3D can not be a sprite. zircon
fuck difficulty and costI just want HD 2D why would HD 2D have to be sprites anyway Well, the Wii doesn't really support HD as I understand it, so Sonic 4 won't be HD. I believe HD is defined as outputting at 720p or higher resolution, which the Wii doesn't do. Standard DVDs are... 480, I think, and HD Remix was drawn for 1080p. Short answer: you can have a high-definition 2D game without sprites, it would just use 3D models instead.
lazygecko
Sonic already was in HD the whole time
ocre
Well, the Wii doesn't really support HD as I understand it, so Sonic 4 won't be HD.The Wii version will not be HD, you're right, but the PS3 and 360 versions will. GS: Will there be any differences between the different versions? That is, will the Wii have motion control, or will the PS3 and 360 run at 1080p? KB: For all intents and purposes, the games are designed to be identical. There are a few differences per what each console can output visually: Wii will be at 480p, while the XBLA and PSN versions will run at 1080p. However, for certain areas of the game, the Wii will be able to use motion control, and the PS3 will be able to use the Sixaxis.

The Pezman
I checked out the site again, and I realized something. Sonic's model is old school. As in "no green eyes or shoe buckles." They're rolling back EVERYTHING except for "Eggman," apparently.
Nabeel Ansari
I like the looks of the gameplay video on www.sonicthehedgehog4.com It might be too small to form an optimistic opinion, but it looks not stupid werewolf sword fusion so I'd be willing to give it a shot. Nabeel Ansari
Considering he was originally Dr. Eggman in Japan, why would leaving it as Eggman somehow be a failure to roll it back? Because the original name here was Dr. Robotnik, wasn't it?
Devyn
I always thought that he and his cohorts referred to himself as Dr. Robotnik and that his enemies referred to him as Dr. Eggman as an insult. Is this not true? Come on.
Gollgagh
In the few comics that I read, I thought that his original name as Dr. Eggman before he turned evil, but he took the new name Robotnik when he did.
Devyn
So, either way, it's okay to refer to him with either name? Makes sense to me.
Gollgagh
Sonic calling him Ro-butt-nik was always funny
Devyn
He's a douchebag. I think it would be cool if he got an egg-shaped girlfriend. Now that's a new character.
Nabeel Ansari
In Sonic Adventure 2, he calls himself "Dr. Eggman Robotnik" so maybe Eggman is a nickname.
Red Shadow
it doesnt really matter as long as the story doesnt interfere with the gameplay
Gollgagh
I think we're trying to justify making fun of the people who are pissed that he isn't being called robotnik
NNY
If you accept calling Dr. Robotnik as "Eggman" because it was his original Japanese name, then you must also accept that Ozzie, Flea, and Slash in Chrono Trigger are called Vinegar, Soysau, and Mayonnai. Bleck
Also, this doesn't mean in any way that the games are flawed or not fun, it means that they're not fun to you. so basically what you're saying is another dumb 'my opinions are better than your opinions' argument Also several Sonic games have made it clear that his name is actually Dr. Ivo Robotnik and the protagonists just call him Eggman. Archaon
Also several Sonic games have made it clear that his name is actually Dr. Ivo Robotnik and the protagonists just call him Eggman. Wasn't that just one instance in Sonic Adventure 1 which has since been retconned anyway because Eggman now calls himself Eggman?
The Derrit
has anyone else noticed that the running animation in the preview isn't even good? he looks like he's supposed to be walking, and in the preview they didn't even take the time to make a stopping animation for him. i can't tell if they're trying to get something out quick or just cutting corners because they think people won't notice
