The Legendary Zoltan Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Work on my Brave Fencer Musashi mix has begun. Rappish metal it is. It's a bit of a medley. It'll even have Topo's Groove Heaven at the end! Quote

Jorito Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Still figuring out which track exactly, but sign me up for Ridge Racer Type 4. Time for some nice electro funk/swing Quote
The Coop Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 (edited) Would Thunder Force V: Perfect System be allowed? Because, you know... I could remix me some Thunder Force V. Edited February 22, 2015 by The Coop Quote
Ivan Hakštok Posted February 22, 2015 Author Posted February 22, 2015 Would Thunder Force V: Perfect System be allowed? Because, you know... I could remix me some Thunder Force V. Damn... I love Thunder Force, but... the PS1 version is a port of the Saturn version. I got asked about another ported game earlier today actually and I had to say no. I'll have to say no to this too If it was an arcade port I'd allow it, but we can't have games that debuted on PS1's direct competitors at the time Quote

They're not PS1 games, just ports, even if some only got ported to the PS1 and no other systems (the PS1 was competing with arcades as well at the time... trying to lure people away to the PS1). Plus, TFV only came to the U.S. on the PS1 via Working Designs. So there's that making it a U.S. exclusive for Sony's system. Anyway, just thought I'd throw the offer out there since I had an idea for "The Justice Ray Part 2." Best of luck with the project Quote

Best of luck with the project Valid point. I'll have to make a firm decision right now then and say no ports allowed. I'll go through the list of currently claimed games and make sure everything's within the rules. And I didn't know about that bit about TFV, apparently it was released on Saturn in Japan only. But still, my decision on ports stands, I wish I could include TFV on this Quick, someone start a Sega Saturn remix album! Quote
The Coop Posted February 22, 2015 Posted February 22, 2015 Quick' date=' someone start a Sega Saturn remix album![/quote']Sadly, I don't think there are enough people on OCR who owned a Saturn, or at least played one regularly elsewhere, to garner enough interest/support via nostalgia for such an album. Shame too, since it does feature some great original games with wonderful music. Quote
StarDragonJP Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 What about games that are ports but have different music then the original? Quote
The Coop Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 It's obviously Ivan's call, but it seems to me that it's still a port since it didn't originate on the PS1. And thus, ineligible. Quote
Eino Keskitalo Posted February 23, 2015 Posted February 23, 2015 I'm a huge fan of sticking to the exclusives* with something like this.. though it would make sense to me to allow ports IF the music was different - this is a VG music project/site after all. Just my 2 eurocents. *) or games-that-debuted-on-this-platform Quote
Unknown Alias Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 Woo Klonoa! I would absolutely love to make a remix of for the album if there's any space. Definitely my favorite VGM from the PS1. Quote

Trev Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 May I do something from FF8? Like the title theme, or the Lunar Pandora (really cool electronic track)? The game does have its flaws but it's underrated IMO. Quote

Unfortunately, FF8 doesn't fit the rules for this project since it already has multiple remixes on OCR. But it deserves an album on it's own. Quote
Trev Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 Oh right! Sorry about that! Well, maybe it'll get an album someday. There is a lot of great music in it. Is Space Invaders for PS1 fair game? Or is it considered a port? It didn't originate on PS1 but it seems like it was heavily updated. I don't think there are any remixes for it on OCR either. It does have some good techno music which would be my style. I'd probably do the first stage, 'Pluto' if it's OK. Quote
Eino Keskitalo Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 That version of Space Invaders seems to have been a simultaneous release for PlayStation and Windows (plus a N64 release a month later). Quote
Ivan Hakštok Posted February 26, 2015 Author Posted February 26, 2015 I assume you mean this game: Since it's not a port but a remake, I'd say it's ok. I'll add you to the list. Quote
StarDragonJP Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 (edited) I guess that eliminates pretty much every fighting game, since most of them were on arcade first. The only ones that I know of that are only ps1 are Evil Zone, Cardinal Syn, Tobal No 1, & Digimon Rumble Arena Edited February 28, 2015 by StarDragonJP Quote

Eino Keskitalo Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 Battle Arena Toshinden was on PSX first. It was a western release title, I remember being pretty impressed of it in the store. Quote

It's worth taking that into account. Quote
Ivan Hakštok Posted February 28, 2015 Author Posted February 28, 2015 (edited) I'm on my phone and I had a nice and long post written but I accidentally deleted it, I'll make a proper post again when I get home but tl;dr tekken stays because it's one of the games that defined the console Edited February 28, 2015 by Ivan Hakštok Quote
