Found a new NES vsti by monx that emulates the 2a03 chip almost flawlessly. It's pretty much good for anyone who finds FamiTracker hard to play with.

Here's a link

Edit: After trying it out, I forgot to mention that CPU sky-rockets whenever you have it playback arpeggios. But if you have a real solid computer, I don't see it being much of a problem.

i've used the natural studios piano soundfont extensively over the last several years, but i'm not sure it's available anymore.

Thanks - I think I already have that sounfont if it's called ns_piano. I've heard other people do good stuff with it but I haven't liked the way it sounds in my own songs that much. I guess I need to experiment with the effects on it, it's a very dry sound.

Hello, i'm interested in an effect that sort of "fades in" the song. Where it goes from very quiet and almost distorted in the EQ to very clear for when the song kicks in.

Example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HY_B0fQ4DDg

Its Shock by Fear Factory, but the intro effect is more what i'm interesed in. There's gotta be a somewhat easy way to do this, or at least a vst that'll do that. Hopefully. :D

Im looking for some good Drum and Bass samples. I was about to drop nearly $400 on EastWest Ministry of Rock. I know their stuff is good, but I don't know about spending that much. Anyone have other recommendations for the cheap?

Thanks!

I absolutely love the mix "Cybernetic Love" by Promethus on the Xenogears project. I really want to know how he did the guitars, sometimes they sound kind of backwards, but they don't at the same time.

How's it done?:-)

Would anyone happen to know where I could find a good soundfont/VSTi of a harmon mute trumpet? Most of the things I've found in my searches have been really poor "trumpets".

Hey guys!

Not sure how GeckoYamori will react if he hasn't seen this already. But KVR member DrWashington just released a huge collection of Megadrive (or Sega Genesis) sounds in a zip featuring OPM files to import in VOPM:

This thing is EPIC! Now with a PSG VST on top, you have potential to make some pretty slick Sega-ish tracks (or tweak presets to make your own).

Hi all!

I'm struggling to get a good rock/metal guitar sound using the FL Studio 8 Slayer and a few free soundfonts I have found.

Are there any good free rock and/or metal guitar sounds around?

just want to clarify - timpani and toms are definitely two totally different things.

generally speaking, while a tom can be tuned to a pitch, it's considered an unpitched percussive instrument. specifically, toms are what a rock drumkit has. i think you're talking about taiko or other ethnic drums, like what you'd hear in the soundtracks of movies like "the last samurai" or "gladiator".

timpani is a clearly pitched instrument, often used in orchestral pieces as far back as bach's day (often called kettle drums). look one up on youtube if you don't know. it's the thing that does the big roll at the end of an exciting fanfare for just about every movie ever =)

I think it would be

Really cool if Zircon could

Edit the first post.

I'd certainly be appreciative of his effort if he did. There are some broken links and such, and also that list seems in need of an update. But, I don't know how busy he is these days.

REDiZER. This is actually a pretty good way to make dubstep wobbles as well as other interesting bass sounds considering that it's totally free.

Tip: A possible glitch is hearing pops after notes are released when you set the release to exactly 0 sec after the decay. Move the release a few hundredths of a second to stop this.

Can anyone help me identify what effects are used on this lead guitar?

Starts around 1:00

Sound like a flanger, but I can't be too sure.

Persona! :D

I've noticed a lot of music in Persona 4 has the very same guitar sound too.
