I remember this little piece struck me when i was a kid and for some reason I still have it stuck in my head sometimes ! I think it can get interpretated pretty freely and would be a good fit for PRC.

A confirmation mail will be send. There might be some issues with it (meaning that you don't get it), if that is the case, upload the song somewhere else as described above.

Once registered, login with your username and password, go to the mentioned page and submit the song. If you want submit two or more songs you can create multiple ThaSauce accounts or upload the song somewhere else and post the download link.

After uploading your song, please check if your song plays and can be downloaded and played without problems. Only upload MP3 files.

 

PRC instructions

• The deadline is Wednesday November 15th 2017 at 10:59 am ThaSauce time (18:00 UTC, 19:00 GMT), check the ThaSauce page for the exact time left. Make sure that the song is uploaded to ThaSauce or that there’s a download link posted in this thread.
• You may enter as many mixes as you like and work with as many people as you like on each mix. You are free to create a second ThaSauce account for that if you use ThaSauce, it's needed to be able to upload a second remix if you use ThaSauce. Of course you can also upload it somewhere else and put a download link in this thread.
• Do not make qualitative comments on an entry until the results of the vote have been posted in this thread.
• Mixers cannot vote for themselves but if they vote they receive a free first place vote added onto their score.
• The winner of this round may select the source for PRC363.
• The winner of PRC359 who picked this source, Shid0, can only participate by submitting a Bonus Mix. His vote is doubled in the voting stage.

Submitted a song, my first entry this year, only mixed the first part of the source. Hope to get some competition. The good news is that there's already a bonus song.

I've never played Super Mario 2 but know it's a classic. I think I'm going to submit a remix for this round. If I by any chance win, I'd like a mixture of "Birth of a God" and "One Winged Angel" (Sephiorth's themes from FFVII) for next round. Good luck everyone.

Realized after export that the resonance on one of my leads was way too high. Not going to have a chance to fix it before the deadline.

Both of the sources you mention are not allowed since they both have multiple OC Remix songs already.

Btw, want to apologize to everyone as I tend to forget voting, which is a bit scummy since what we all want is feedback. Will try to be careful about this next times. Oh and btw i don't really like the fact that i get double vote points since i'm not really that good myself, why would my vote be double? Just my opinion though, not trying to raise a argument

Winners always have a double vote, the winner selected the source so his/her vote gets a bigger value. It already was a rule before I took over PRC (round 131). I think this was always the case.

Man this was hard as all of these remixes were good, and had features that differentiated themselves from their competitors. The main aspects that I was judging was how much a track really surprised me with its creative style and introducing new musical elements not only instrumentally, but also new melodic and harmonic flowing effortlessly within the source tune.

   With Starphoenix's remix, I was blown away by how well put together the remix in terms of how all the different parts accentuated each other, and the atmospheric vibe it was giving off throughout the remix. The dynamic contrast of the remix was another aspect as at times it was subdued and other times it was a rolling groove. The only nitpick I have is the ending didn't really feel satisfying of the journey that came before it, and didn't sound like a conclusion but that's my opinion. 

  Bundeslang's remix is somewhat similar to what I said about Starphoenix's as there was a lot of creativity that I really enjoyed. My favorite part was the beginning with all the chromatic shifts before we go to the main melody. I wasn't expecting it and was really happy that I wasn't. Contrast was also on point with changes in instrumentation at the end while adding only made the piece stronger instead of getting crowded. The ending was nice and sort floated of wherever the place it was in which was a nice touch. The aspect that wasn't really keen with was the instrument that I think was a saw wave or something to that extent did not agree with me as I felt it soured the soundscape that was happening outside of it, but that could be my own taste or something else. Otherwise great job!

 I love Kat's remix as I'm a sucker for orchestral remixes. I love the instrumentation and thought it really came into its own is when the melody was being passed around to the different sections which is my absolute favorite of the remix. Also as a side note if this is shown, Kat what plugins did you use for this? The reason that it isn't higher up as I didn't get the sense of being blown away like I did to the others to some degree. It's good and has great ideas and with more time and are willing to work on it, I can't wait what becomes of it.

  RonaldPoe's remix reminded me that I was wondering if I had jumped into a mario party game hahaha. It was happy, infectious, and I thought personified his explanation of everybody scrambling to get into position for curtain call. The reason why it didn't place was I thought it was too close to the source in terms of timbre, and that is merely my opinion and It still had a lot of aspects that I really loved.

  Shido's bonus track was an enjoyable listen and I really liked the guitar and the intent behind it,  and can't wait for the change of hardware. Also, I liked the improvisation at the tailend of the remix. It was a nice remix and I enjoyed it.

Thanks for the remixes, and allowing me to have an opinion even though I'm learning everything on the go.

Indeed, I didn't have enough time to really work on it and get all my ideas into place. As for the plugins, it's quite a list. The strings and woodwinds are Rhapsody Orchestral Colors, while the percussion(including the glockenspiel and xylophone) is Rhapsody Orchestral Percussion. The horns are all from Bravura Scoring brass, and the piano is Pearl Grand Piano. All of those are from Impact Soundworks.

The solo trumpet is Chapman Trumpet by Embertone, and the flute is Passion Flute by Orange Tree Samples.

Thanks for the reply. I'm looking into stuff as I'm still using the fl studio plugins you get at the start, and sometimes they can be less than desirable to work with.

Sytrus and 3xOSC can take you a long way. Granted, I also use Serum, but those two synths alone are probably the majority of what I use. Once you get the hang of them you'll be golden. Look up some tutorials from DDRKirby(ISQ) on YouTube if you want to discover how versatile 3xOSC can be,
