Rexy
The mixing stage is over. Now it's time to get onto the voting stage. to do so, you send me a PM and in that PM you need to place all four mixes from first to fourth. Contestants don't need to place their own songs as they will automatically get a first place vote. The vote of the winner of PRC86 (myself) counts twice. You have until Wednesday, February 14th at 4:59AM EST to cast your vote. The winner will get to choose the source material for PRC87! PRC86's Secret of Mana related compo received quite the mixed reaction, but regardless, the end result was that there was a healthy amount of coverage with six songs unleashed as a result. Somehow I'm seeing the Mana series to be a good omen for me, as I took the win with some orchestral... new age... thing. Nevertheless, it's time we got PRC87 going, and this one will have some good ol' fashioned PlayStation coverage. In Little Samson, you had a flying mystical lizard for an ally. In Secret of Mana, you rode a flying mystical lizard into the air to traverse the map once you obtained some kind of drum. In this game, however, you ARE the flying mystical lizard. Man, this takes me back to the times when I was merely a pre-teen in gaming growth. There was just so much that I came to love about this series in its inconception - vast and mystical worlds to roam around in, a great balance between free combat and challenge, and may I say there were some beautiful graphics considering it ran on a primitive disc system. But what got me more impressed than most was the musical score, done here by Stewart Copeland from the Police. Though he merely scored the first four console titles, the series in general had some powerful music to coincide with the atmosphere of the area that you're in, and especially in the case of the PS1 titles they've been composed in such a way that many of these would work well as strong standout instrumentals in their own right. This source in particular is what I feel is one of the strongest examples of that, combining some strong melodic ideas with heavy emphasis on stringed sounds and various pitched percussion. I hope as a result of seeing what there is, we may get some powerful recognition as a result. Best of luck to everyone who decides to take part Spyro the Dragon - Opening Theme MIDI | MP3 Before anyone asks about the thread title, everyone should know that 87 is Liontamer's favorite number, apprently. Anyway... GOOD LUCK! Fine Print: PRC instructions If you happen to be mixing this song already, start over in the interests of fairness. There is no limit on entry format or file size, but length for length's sake and MIDI rips are not allowed. Entries must be posted in this thread by NEXT SATURDAY, February 10th at 4:59am Eastern US Time. Alternatively, you can also email your submissions over to submission@doulifee.com, though it would also help if you put forward a reminder in the thread. You may enter as many mixes as you like and work with as many people as you like on each mix. Do not make qualitative comments on an entry until the results of the vote have been posted. The winner of the previous contest may not enter an eligible mix, but his/her vote will count double. Mixers cannot vote for themselves but if they vote they receive a free first place vote added onto their score. Doulifée's PRC Archives! If you need help with hosting your mix, contact myself or Doulifée, and we'll help you out.

The Orichalcon
<3 Spyro. If I can get my computer up and running I'll give it a shot.
Paladin
I really like the source. Listening to the mp3, it sounds like the sort of style I'd go for when remixing myself. Therefore, it's hard for me to imagine the source in any other context, if that makes sense. So unless I get a brainwave over the next few days, it looks like I won't be able to enter this PRC. Gimgak
I was kinda thinking of remixing something from Spyro for fun a couple days a ago, so I might give this a try.
Sir_NutS
Sir_NutS Presents the Amazing Analog Funk Machine What can I say, I was bored, a bit sick and I'm a big fan of electronic funkiness a la analog/djp. Hope someone likes it.

Nario
Wow! This song would be neat to do, but I don't know if I can... my college and church life is busy so I'll see what I can spruce up, if anything, that is.
Rexy
Nario goes to church?! I do see what you mean though. This week I've got to prepare about 12 pages of design documentation for my research and development project. I take the second semester is the busier of the two. anosou
I'm probably not doing this, sorry Rexy and all my zillions of fans *cough* but I'll be back for the next one

Rexy
There's a quick reminder that you have 23 hours left to make your mixes. Please, get cracking for the sake of PRC musics.
Rexy
okay, only two entries and it's Saturday. As far as I'm concerned, that's not enough to start a voting spree upon. The way I see it, I'll extend the deadline by 24 hours to make room for any more new challengers. I really hope that we can get just a little more of a push from this. (hah, do my source tunes usually cause delays like this? )
Paladin
Well, the fact that's it's now half-term means I may knock out an entry today. But when exactly is the new deadline GMT? I don't want to miss it (again).
Rexy
Your new deadline is Sunday, February 11th at 10AM GMT. Same time, different day.
Paladin
I can't come up with anything.
Rexy
ouch, that's not looking good X.x But if this keeps persisting, I'm still going to end up extending time until we get a new challenger or two. I can only go as far back as Monday morning as we need time for the winner of the contest to pick a source material too. I can't believe it might even come to that
Anorak
I wasn't going to say anything, but I don't won't have a mix either. I don't think I could come up with anything workable.
