  1. This looks like an index site I frequented a couple times a couple years ago. Better get'em before they're gone, I don't think they tend to last long.
  2. I've kinda been lawling at everyone building hype for it because Bryan Cranston's in it. It's like, what, do you expect see Walter White taking Godzilla down or something? I hope it does justice to the Godzilla franchise. I've never seen any Godzilla movie ever, but I have nothing against it either and hope everyone enjoys it.
  3. Well, it wasn't intended to be, I just wanted to show off viking and Ragnarok themed remixes. And still no one comments on my VP remix? For shame.
  4. Holy Lord, I must download this as soon as I get home!
  5. The day I made this topic was the day Ragnarok was supposed to actually happen. And I see what you did there, Sim.
  6. Hey now, that was a defining moment of my young life! The console wars were the only wars worth fighting in! I'd love to see it covered in an intelligent format, I just... Seth Rogen... ew.
  7. I'm not sure if it's going to be a biopic or a documentary. The documentary would make the most sense, but it didn't seem to be clear which way it would go. A biopic would undoubtedly suck.
  8. http://blogs.indiewire.com/theplaylist/seth-rogen-evan-goldberg-to-direct-sega-vs-nintendo-saga-console-wars-20140224 I'm actually not really looking forward to this. I've found Seth Rogen projects, much like himself, to be heavily overrated. Part of my typical cynicism here is fueled by today also being the death of Harold Ramis and my suspicion that two events are related by way of the universe choosing a horrible method to "pass on the torch". But that's just my opinion. What do you think?
  9. Oops, missed your post here, Kris. Thank you very kindly. This is my first published thing using Omnisphere, and I used so many synths and such to get this track to work that it was pushing my CPU to 99%. It was glitched and distorted as hell AND I MIXED IT IN THAT. A personal crowning accomplishment I felt. Not sure if I could ever pull that off again.
  10. Today is the last day of our miserable lives. Some of us have already gone to join the Einherjar in Odin's battle against the Vanir, but the rest of us are here for now. So let's party it up with sex, drugs, and appropriate remixes (not necessarily in that order)! http://ocremix.org/remix/OCR01871/ http://ocremix.org/remix/OCR01736/ http://ocremix.org/remix/OCR01790/ Any other remixes suitable for the viking apocalypse? I only know of the ones from Valkyrie Profile...
  11. Wait, you found some? I knew that Bulbasaur picture looked off somehow...
  12. I've been wondering that myself lately. I think the gaming internet culture has just shifted in ways so that going to genuinely good forums like this one just isn't as hot as it used to be, and a bunch of our older veterans have just gotten older and acquired families and jobs that keeps it so coming back here is less of an option than it used to be.
  13. Last year I contributed a track for an enormous Pete Namlook tribute album that came about from Carpe Sonum records, which had a healthy relationship with Namlook. I didn't make the final cut as I didn't get enough votes on their voting system to make the main super album, but I did get on the Bonus Digital Download album, and I just wanted to share it with anyone here who was interested. http://namlooktribute.bandcamp.com/track/surrender-to-the-earth-mastered I don't make any money off this track (in fact, I performed a current indie musician cardinal sin and did it for exposure), but all money that goes from these sales go to Pete Namlook's family to help pay for his funeral costs. He died back in 2012 well before his time and I believe his family is still struggling with the loss financially and all the other ways around. I don't know how many Pete Namlook fans we have at OCR, but I wanted to share it all the same. Thank you!
  14. Sometimes the compositions of the drum fills will be decent enough. You can't really escape using crash sounds, but if you think you're overdoing it, you can always try different types of cymbals or high hat sounds to complete the transition, or just reduce the volume and high shelf EQ out of the cymbals. They'll melt into the background better but still provide a proper transition. For reference on learning some good drum fills and transitions, go to www.vgmusic.com, and download a shit-ton of Motoi Sakuraba MIDIs from Valkyrie Profile (PS1), Golden Sun (GBA), Star Ocean 2, and Tales of Symphonia (GC).
  15. Some constructive criticism from one published author to another (though not even close to the same field), and someone who works in marketing - consider editing your post and any similar to it you've made to include more about what your book actually talks about instead of filling it with "selling points". Your Amazon page does a pretty good job of describing it, but this post, to me at least, is kind of a turn-off because there's more in here that's bragging about who endorsed it than what your book helps me to understand about game audio. It doesn't fill me with a lot of confidence as a potential reader if you think I'll be more dazzled by the accolades it's gotten than what it actually talks about. Even just copying and pasting the description from Amazon in a tasteful way would make your approach here much better and more interesting to the type of musicians we are at OCR. Not trying to bust chops or anything, I'd just hate to see a cool-looking book like that go unnoticed here because your approach was under-utilized. EDIT: Although Ectogemia noticed it pretty quickly. Good luck on getting it out there!
  16. Ohhhhh... I thought this was going to be a Suikoden/Touhou crossover when I saw the title...
  17. Just do Craigslist for your local city. Post "Need Rapper for Beat" and out of the hundreds of wannabes posting back, one of them will be at least half decent.
  18. Mark it, dude. Rozovian's track is complete. May have some improvements all the same, but it's at a place we can be satisfied with it. Usa's track is going to come a bit later, no worries there. We waited this long, whats another little bit? All the time goes towards quality anyway. Now we really do only have half a track left. Ok, FOR SERIOUS NOW GUYS, let's get some ideas on what we can do to PR this sucker beyond just OCR's usual press for project releases. This project's been in the slow cooker for how many years? Does anyone even remember? Let's make up for lost time by REALLY giving this project it's due on the social circuits. I've got a bunch of names and contacts for PR, but let's keep the brainstorming going. More than just posting on Facebook and such. What can we do to really get people listing to this album?
  19. I don't remix new VGM largely because, A. I'm still half tone-deaf from amusia brain damage and I require MIDIs to remix. People don't make MIDIs for modern game music much anymore for several reasons. B. Older VGM worked on limited production allowance, so they focused on being melodic and entertaining instead of flowing along with the atmosphere of a game. Turning a highly melodic and energetic piece into something modern without these stylistic limitations is more exciting than trying to rearrange a modern piece, which is less melodic than it used to be, into something of a similar production quality or even turning a modern composition into a chiptune something or other. This post is >80% editorial, so don't bother trying to argue the academic merits of the opinions contained therein.
  20. Oh come now. We all know Nintendo's secret weapon, one they're saving for when they're truly screwed, is the big-budget, Peter Jackson directed, live-action Legend of Zelda movie they know we've all been waiting for. On topic, I agree with Modus. Sony's everywhere. It doesn't matter as much to them because they have a lot of other successful hands in the oven. I think they even own rights to my firstborn son.
  21. Nintendo's stock price didn't drop a dollar, my son (although nice ninja edit), it dropped considerably more than that. To your main point, that is a good question. I'm not sure why no one is talking about that.
  22. Just a quick, positive, mini-update - Rozovian's Frenzy mix is, IMO at least, pretty much done, just needs maybe 20 minutes worth of fixin' in the old DAW. He's still busy as hell, just like we all have been, but it's so close to done I can consider it done. The other one, Usa's Reincarnation got another significant upgrade in the WIP department. He's got a sweet, flowing 80s new age thing going on there. It's fairly conservative on arrangement, but, honestly, that track is so minimalist that it's surprisingly difficult to arrange it in any other way. I was really digging it myself and think it stands on unique ground compared to other arrangements we have so far. So, basically, we're only really missing about half a track right now and that should come sooner than later. There's not many times you can genuinely say something you're working on is AT LEAST 99% finished.
  23. Someone better type me a ***damn public message and fill it with profanity or I'll tell you whut!

  24. Not to be super pedantic in a super pedantic topic, but the Girl Scouts typeface is NOT capitalized. Even if you did say some are not, it's still quite uneven and the greatest travesty wrought on the internet since Tubgirl. For SHAME, Larry! >8V
