  1. I've noticed that since I installed the new Flash 10 (I think it was flash, at least) a few weeks ago, virtually all Flikr-based images just don't show up. Whether image linked on a blog or web page, or even on Flikr itself, they just aren't there.

I've checked all my Firefox add-ons (deactivating and reactivating), still no dice.

Has anyone else had this problem or heard of it?

  2. Dang, prices can be all over the place...

For example, looking at my few promo cards...

    $20.00 - Lv12 (Base Set) "E3" Pikachu (yellow cheek)

    $20.00 - Lv30 "Promo" Mewtwo (U.S. "12")

    $10.00 - Lv28 "Promo" Dark Persian (holo) (U.S. "17")

    $6.00 - Lv12 "Promo" Sabrina's Abra (U.S. "19")

    verses

    Pikachu E3 (yellow cheeks) $10.00

    Mewtwo(Telekinesis #12) $6.00

Dark Persian(August Ntndo. pwr mag) $4.00

    Sabrina's Abra #19(card only) $2.25

I suppose it's best to assume the lower price.

  3. I've been cleaning out some stuff from my room today, and came across my old PokéMon cards. I haven't played the game in years and don't expect to. They're just taking up valuable desk real estate. I have therefore decided I should just sell them. This is where I'm kinda stuck, though. I'm wondering what the best route would be and how to maximize my return.

I'm far too lazy to take it upon myself to setup shop on eBay, so I've been wondering what I could expect from a local gaming/card/D&D-type shop.

I assume that the first step would be to catalogue my small collection and see what, exactly, I have.

Then what? Get estimates from various shops? Look-up online pricing guides and sell them online as a single lot? Go card-by-card?

    Any suggestions would be helpful.

  4. The thing that has my attention about the DSi is the SD slot and online store. I certainly would like to download, say, MegaMan 3 onto an SD card and play on my DS(i). Plus, I wonder if there is the possibility for future ROM-age?

  5. I've been rummaging about the tubes for a solid and powerful media transcoder. I've seen a lot of them out there, but the options are many, and the decision confusing...especially when you're wanting a wide range of file outputs to choose from.

I'm mostly interested in audio and video encoding/transcoding, but DVD ripping would be a nice plus.

I've tried MediaCoder, but I can never seem to get it to convert without some sort of problem arising, like glitchy, laggy audio on videos I've converted.

I'm looking at FormatFactory as an option, too. It seems to be more of a batch converter, though. Has anyone used it before?

Any input would be much appreciated.

  6. I loved their first album. Ever time I listen to it I can just imagine MegaMan as an epic rock opera.

This new demo is certainly...smoother, more refined in its sound than was their first. I like it, though. I can't wait to hear the rest of it and see how the saga continues. Assuming they're sticking to the story of MegaMan and ProtoMan.

  7. Ipods are so shitty. I dont need to be babied by Itunes and I dont need a 200 dolar mp3 player. Why do you need a good user interface when your just going to find a song you like and shove the mp3 in your pocket anyway. And why the FUCK would i want 5 gigs of portable shit when I have a goddam computer that I can use to change the songs out on a 1 gig? my litte 30 dollar sansa has lasted me years, more than most Ipod users can say. and guess what happens when I drop my sansa? I laugh! its so light that it lacks the inertia to hurt itself, and even if it does fuck up i can just buy a new one. All IPod users have been sucked in by the corporate giant fuckheads apple like an extremely expensive, unbeknownstedly high maintenence whore.

and wooh ocr logo I see it whn i com on ocremix.org

  8. I've played the Irish whistle for about three years now, if I recall. My favorite two are my Tony Dixon high and low D whistles.

The high D has an aluminum body with a delrin fipple and a brass tuning slide. It's not super loud and can get drowned out in a large session, but she sings in the second octave; bright and clear, with little chiff.

My Dixon low D plays one octave lower than the high D and is made completely of polymer. It's sound is quite a bit more mellow, and also quieter. There's a woody hiss in the sound, like it's breathing. It's actually very useless in a session because I can't hear a thing I'm playing. It's nice to play solo, though, especially when I want to play more meditative music. It even does alright with Native American-style music.

  9. We have a Belkin wireless router in our house, but multiple times throughout the day my connection to our DSL via the router dies out. My wireless card in my compy is still receiving the router at "very good" or "excellent" but there's no data being transmitted. The only answer is to go out and unplug then replug the power cable to the router. Then the connection is re-established and I can continue to be connected. It's not a major issue, but it is very much an annoyance I'd rather do without and would like to fix.

Is this possibly a problem with the router just getting too warm and needing to be reset? Any other hypotheses?

  10. For those of you who are fortunate to own a DSLR (it's ironic that I work at a camera store, yet don't have one, myself) I want to make one huge lens recommendation. Get yourself a good 50mm (or 55mm) lens. Something that's around f/1.2 to f/1.8. No zoom, please. Trust me, this is the one lens that everyone needs, but one one buys. With one of those lenses you can shoot pretty close, lightning fast, and you can get an awesomely shallow depth of field.

    They start at $99 for a Canon 50mm f/1.8 and $129 for a Nikkor 50mm f/1.8.

Trust me, they may not zoom, but they're the best value you can get in a lense.

  11. I actually got my bachelors in photography. Right now I'm working for Ritz camera, so in terms of equipment, I get to use whatever we have in the store. From the Canon A570 to the Nikon D300.

Here's a few on my pictures.

  12. 8-Bit is sadly nowhere near as popular as it once was.

I used to read it religiously, but when they battled the Litch King things really became...less funny. I would go back and find where I left off, but that comic was published so often that I must be hundreds of episodes behind by now. The flash movies were great, though.
