  1. I am sad tonight because I've never played this game. However, it does put me in the position to give you some non-nostalgia/familiarity influenced feedback, and I can tell that, from what I've listened to so far, this project still kicks it. Congratulations on finishing it, and have fun basking in one of OCR's biggest ever afterglows (at least in my time here).
  2. Very, very attractive deal... of course, that pretty well sums up most of everything Apple is doing these days: regardless of the content, they can make everything attractive. I've become comfortable with the Logic work flow and have been wanting the Pro version software instruments for a while now. I suppose I'll be picking this up at the end of this year, and hopefully the new MacBooks will be out by then.
  3. BITCHEZ I haven't even looked at the features, brb edit: oh yeah, forgot LINK edit 2: $500 for Pro, there is a God
  4. I know you all (DJP, judges) must have considered this before, but I don't know what you think about it: The last thing you want to do is discourage people, but, in an effort to help people understand how their song may compare to the standards, perhaps you should advise prospecting ReMixers to take a look at the sea of past decisions and mention how few mixes make it to the panel and from there how few pass. Whether this is edited into this document or somewhere else, I think there needs to be a general, "save both you and us some unnecessary work and take the time to really get a feel for the standards because statistically many many people have not (!)" The present document is focused on almost exclusively on standards and procedure, but the instructions section on the draft starts to branch out into some advice. Perhaps something of the above could be included there, or maybe it could be part of some headline pushing people to pay more attention. (Btw, having had 3 mixes rejected myself, I'm in no way pointing a finger at everyone who has gotten a mix rejected. Obviously a lot of people do there homework and do there best to meet the standards, but as I understand it there are hordes who don't even come close.)

  6. If you could find a standalone program that just creates sample files from individual audio files, then you could just load them into the exsp24 in Logic. (I've looked for such a program for mac, but I never found one. It's been a while, though; you may have better luck than me.) The great thing about iDrum, though, is that you can download the demo and snag all of the samples from the full version. They aren't world class, but they're useful. I never got the full version becuase it only supports even time signatures.
  7. If "OverClocked ReMix" was emblazoned on a piece of doo doo, then any and all crappiness in reference to said turd would cease (especially if I could wear it). Larry, how much is that going to cost me?
  8. Come, ocr remix forum goers. Let us ponder together the thematic similarity of these two names, and next time someone asks us if this has "made the rounds," we will solemnly reply, "yes, yes it has." Since you asked, my experience with the two programs dates back to about three years ago. I figured that out the correlation of the their names about last year and was mildy amused. I think I might have smiled, maybe.
  9. I was personally considering a lone "omg" , but better judgement told me to let it go. Then it told me to tell everyone about my decision to let it go. Then I thought about joking about letting it go but not really letting it go. Then I thought about continuing a joke that should have ended two sentences ago. Then I clicked preview and came to a sad realization. Then I said f*** it and clicked submit.
  10. wait what? edit: ohhhhhhhhh! I get it. ha ha ha ha
  11. MMO and RTS aren't mutually exclusive descriptors, imo. Just because cvg added the line, "in the style of wow," that doesn't necessarily mean that they received that info from their source(s). That could be something the dude who wrote the article added.
  12. Ziwtra, I really admire the nuance present in a lot of your work. This one is no exception. It's like IDM/break beat. IBB, if you will. Calming... I enjoy knowing what the sfx are - they add something good, I think. I'm glad you're releasing music somewhat regularly again.
  13. I don't see why it has to be fav. Just associate your self image with a song. should this thread go in off topic ... or should it die a quick death? edit: hmmmmmm. yeah, this a favorites thread, lol
  14. So I was looking at that thread megadave started (If you could do a remix, what would it be), and I misread the title. So the question is, what remix would you be?... a vg remix, so we're all on the same page. for me: Bonsai Garden by Red Tailed Fox. Imagine THAT walking down the street. ... perhaps I would don some "KRool Intentions" when I slide into bed with my lady, secretly hoping I don't turn into AmIEvil's "Soundcheck" again.
  15. I think that, for the purpose of reviewing something here, one should try to voice their opinions very soon after first hearing it. Association is the most important thing (IMO) in music. I mean, take March Of the Little People from A New Hope. If I heard that song on its own, I'd probably toss it aside and never listen to it again. Becuase of the years of hearing with the Star Wars movie and games, however, it means a lot more than what is communicated in the notes. just to use another Star Wars example: I used to dislike Parade of the Ewoks, but after hearing the song over and over again in Star Wars Droid Works it became my favorite Star Wars theme. It's not a conscious, "well it makes me think of this part of the movie or this area in a game." It's more a subconscious, just liking the song sort of thing.
  16. Yes, a 414ce. It was my main xmas gift - it was also done as a sort of payment for keeping our big yard mowed for that year ... perhaps you'll find some consolation in the fact that it is only the second guitar I own - the other being a nylon string. I noticed today that the ipod picks up a lot of engine noise - the revs come through perfectly. I know it's the ipod and not my wiring because with everything connected, the engine on, and the speakers turned up, it only comes through when I turn the ipod on. I wonder if it's something coming through the ground wire or if it's an airborne thing. I'm guessing it's the latter because if it were the former then I'd probably hear it through the CD player. Also, I'm feeling a little more distracted driving with my favorite songs than I do with just the radio. I'm thinking of the birducussion piano instead of the road in front of me. Maybe this isn't such a good idea.
  17. I don't know if there's a kit. Besides the soldering iron and solder, I just bought this.
  18. I guess this belongs here; it's neither a remixing thing nor offtopic. I'm so happy this finally worked out. I've been messing with it all weekend. I installed this thing in the dash of my Tahoe. so I could do this It's a switching 1/4 in. jack that intercepts the wires going from the CD module to the receiver. When a CD is playing, all I have to do plug something in, and it drops the cd audio and plays the input through the car speakers. It will take anything as long as it doesn't exceed its line level. I'm not even sure what level that is, but I do know that the max volume level of my ipod is JUST below what the CD module puts out, so it's all good. I guess I could plug my taylor acoustic into it, back up to a field or something, open the doors, and rock-out. This is the first time I've done anything like this. I had to teach myself to solder - got burned a lot. It was fun, though. I went to the Chevy dealership to get the wire diagrams. After all that trouble, though, I read them incorrectly, cut the wrong wires, assumed the diagram was incorrect, found the correct wires by trial and error, got it all back together, and realized that the diagrams were corret after all. Oh well, it works now. It's so nice not having to think about the radio at all, driving around with 200-300 of my fav songs. It sounds great, even though the ipod shuffle doesn't have the best sound quality. It has a relatively meh signal:noise ratio, and there is some bass and midrange eq, but only the people who work with audio regularly would notice those issues. I'm a beginner. I'd like to see what kind of audio do-it-yourself / tinkering you guys have done.
  19. I love it too. I've got the entire soundtrack from both games on my computer. Before I found the tracks online, I recorded every track from Golden Sun directly from my GBA onto my CD burner. I even manually faded every track out at exactly one repeat. good [wasted] times. It's on my to do list to tackle one of those tunes. I really like that town theme from GS that's in 10/8 time. You know, it starts off with some pizzicato and then the oboe/cor anglais things comes in. Or maybe I'll try the theme from the Saturos battle at Mercury lighthouse. Gorah and Tundaria Tower are awesome too. So much to choose from!
  20. ahh, yes ... Like the rest of you stuff, this is tight - very tight. good stuff! It's bringing back the memories of my grandmother playing this game till the early hours of the morning.
  21. ...but if the differences ever overlap with each other, then you will just be taking the differences off the track and adding the differences from the other. But you can get it to work because you will then be left with something that sounds identical to one of your first tracks, but the stuff you didn't will be inverted to each other. I retyped this about 3 times and couldn't come up with a simpler way to explain it. Can you post the files? If you want to try it yourself, Audacity is a good program to try.
  22. I use DestroyFX's free Turntablist AU plugin to do one shots. It loads wavs and aiffs. It has pitch adjustment too. It does have a tiny bug, though. Every time you start up logic you have to make sure you reset its "loop" button. Otherwise, it's great.
  23. Haha! Another problem I had - and yet another error in the manual. The exsp24 (note the "p") cannot load individual wavs or aiffs. Yes, it does lead you to believe it can in the manual. It is wrong. Logic 7 Express: exsp24 Logic 7 Pro: exs24 The exs24 CAN load wavs and aiffs and even make exs files out of them. The exsp24 cannot. frusteratin' ain't it?
