  1. I get what you're saying, and I agree completely. But these !
  2. I've always wondered what this smiley means... which is probably why I never use it.
  3. Wheee, entries! I love the yeti, but I'm so tempted to vote for other ones instead.... XI Ok, time for me to start drawing now!
  4. Unless I build a time machine. It didn't work.... 7 hours left! (I think) I should probably start soon...
  5. 10 hours left- that only leaves me 5 hours for homework and stuffing my face! Unless....
  6. Uh oh, not sure if I'll have enough time for a decent entry... well, if I run out of time before it's any good I can polish it up for a bonus entry =]
  7. Here are some examples of choices in games that are NOT problems in disguise: - Choosing the next level to play in Super Mario Bros 3 or Super Mario World. - Choosing where to go next in Super Metroid or Zero Mission. I hated most of Metroid Prime 3 because almost all of its "choices" were actually problems in disguise (in other words, the exploration was linear and sucked). - Choosing your character's abilities, upgrades and weapons in System Shock 2. - Choosing whether or not to use an item in Super Mario Bros 3, or choosing where to go within a level. - Choosing what to do in a well-balanced RTS (e.g. StarCraft). - Choose out of the dozens of side-quests to do next in Ocarina of Time or Majora's Mask. - Choose your destiny (Mortal Kombat). Ok that last one was a stretch. But my point is that great games are often brimming with choices. However there are also great games that are brimming with problems (e.g. epic puzzle games like Adventures of Lolo 1-3... you should NOT have kept the receipt!!) Whoever catches the reference first gets a cookie.
  8. Bad news: I'm stuck in jail, and won't have any more internet access until I pay $50. Yeah, well ...the creature I'm drawing this time has no clothes, hair, or wicked thighs to create the illusion of movement. (Actually its thighs are pretty wicked, but that's besides the point.) Aha, I know: drool!! And dust! At last, I will depict a movement so big you'll be able to smell it! Wait, uhh... Anyway, I was considering motion blur too, but that's just too much work >< In any case, I always end up drawing/refining parts of a picture over and over again, and this time I'll likely do that more than ever =) Thanks!
  9. Mainly drawing a pose that's badass enough... I try to make them full of action, but they end up looking static like these: http://www.saynotocrack.com/index.php/2007/05/12/invisible/ [Edit] So yeah, both =p
  10. I haven't drawn for days, but last week I drew a ton of practice sketches. I got the anatomy down nicely (I thought that would be by far the hardest part!), but then I started having extreme posefail! Any tips? I'd say what I'm drawing, but we're kind of not allowed to...
  11. I just realized... the Isengard theme in the LOTR trilogy must be 5/4. Seems easy to count too. 1 2 3 1 2 1 2 3 1 2 1 2 3 1 4 1 3 2 1 3 4 1 2 3 4 1 2 4 5 1 2 3 4...
  12. This was probably my favourite one so far. Partially because of the content and how it makes me think about videogame design, and partially because of all the James Portnow jokes "Should have bought a mic, buddy."
  13. Aww, that was low. I demand the compromising picture of Rambo and pancakes! Already started drawing some concepts for my piece, looks like it's going to be the best entry I've done so far!
  14. I think the noodles are healthier for you if you leave your heart inside your body..?? AHH I hate evil Kirbies! I was actually thinking about all the strange and wonderful baddies that Kirby has to fight. Like the final boss of Kirby 64: (skip to the 30-second mark for boss fight and epic music!) If that's not a "grisly representations of humanity's ugly side", I don't know what is. Considering what happens in the cutscene leading up to the boss fight: Seriously, you're fighting on a planet of darkness and eyes that emerged from the possessed queen? That is some messed up sh-OMG KIRBY PHONE! | [<('o'<)
  15. I was going to say: if you can't decide, pick Kirby! But that's not quite a "grisly representations of humanity's ugly side." Or maybe it is!
  16. Is it that hard to find games with decent creatures to draw? Just looking around me here, I see: Zelda Paper Mario StarTropics Kirby Turok Golden Sun And then a whole bunch that were already mentioned, such as Mario, Castlevania, and every RPG ever. Not to give away what I'm doing, but... it's likely either Metroid, Zelda, or something from this PC game list: StarCraft Warcraft Diablo Half-Life Doom Quake Duke Nukem Unreal I'd list more, but pretty much every action game and RPG game ever made has creatures in it. Pick any NES game, chances are it's full of strange and wonderful creatures. Series like Metroid, Zelda, and Castlevania are just FULL of interesting enemies and bosses. Try picking from the game you're most passionate about (which is likely the one that comes to mind first!)
  17. I was going to post "y hello thar", but then I looked up the true meaning of the phrase o_O ...and that's the last time I ever consider using a meme I'm not entirely familiar with... On that note, nice work Rambo! I can say with confidence that your entry contains the nicest work.
  18. Hmm, it's going to be tough for me to enter something good in this contest, AND the Blizzard theme park contest that ends March 30th, what with exams coming up and all.... ...I wants a StarCraft 2 beta key =/ Well, we'll see what happens.
  19. Hehe, yeah, I didn't want to make the red too overpowering... actually I tried to make ALL the colours pretty muted. Hehe, that's what I guessed, but having not played TF2 I wasn't sure. If I would have voted in time you would've been #2 (and Aya Brea was my #1 pick)
  20. *gasp* it took me hours to find this thread, but I finally made it...!! As long as I have enough time, I'll try and find some wicked photo references to draw a more "photorealistic" version of a videogame creature. I can't think of many games that DON'T have creatures, but I've already narrowed my choices down to a just few games. Great theme!
  21. I'm not! I've learned that that style isn't #1 material in the eyes of OCR voters. I was planning to do something a lot more realistic, but decided against it because I started drawing so late. As promised, here's the improved version I finished half an hour after the deadline: I'm thinking of calling it "Chun-li totally kicks Bison", because she totally does.
  22. Ack! The version I submitted looks so bad, I totally should have started a half-hour earlier... I... I coulda been a contender! At least I won't be dissapointed this time when I don't get any votes Well, since it's going to take me all week to decide who to vote for, I might as well get started... Err.... so the seductive women from video games are not supposed to be hot? Regardless, it looks like most people went with "Let's draw chicks who are badass in some way." ... it's just that videogame characters (both girls and guys) tend to be more attractive than the average person. And fortunately for this contest, they are almost always more badass than the average person.
  23. Wow! I don't know who a lot of the characters are, but Nice Work!! =D .......I knew I should've done my last-minute finishing touches BEFORE the deadline Well, I'll link to the new version after the voting's done
  24. Err, I'm having trouble submitting a PM for some reason >< gimmie an extra minute? [Edit] Ok, it's in =D And, um, happy birthday relyanCe! That has better mean "Well dammit I submitted something awesome like usual"...!!
  25. Whew, mine's turning out quite good, but nothing at all like I planned. Partially because Photoshop decided to completely ignore pen pressure and draw all the lines in the same thickness. And partially because I don't know what I'm doing. Good luck everyone!!
