  1. LOL, a 2-page Windows Media Player help thread merged into an "album comments/reviews" thread? Ok. Good thing the problem is finally resolved, this isn't exactly the thread I would ask for help in And yes, Winamp is great =D I'll have to check out this album too... man, so many albums I've been meaning to listen to...
  2. Windstrike and I finished our matches. I'd email the replays but I can't find your email address Garian ><
  3. Just tested my scanner and tablet - the tablet on this computer is going CRAZYGONUTS! But even though the cursor vibrates like hell, I can use it to draw just fine! Now to start looking for reference pictures...
  4. Good news for me: I procrastinated so much that I didn't draw anything for the Blizzard contest so it gave me more time for the FAC! But I waited too long to post this, because I didn't actually start drawing anything for the FAC yet. I have however decided on what to draw. It's going to be good, assuming I actually draw it!
  5. I read the instruction manuals for Warcraft 1, 2, and 3, and I played most of the campaigns for 2 (some of which isn't considered canon) and all the campaigns for 3 (but didn't finish the TFT bonus Orc campaign). Is there any more pre-WoW canon that I should be aware of? I read that the movie is supposed to take place between WC3 and WoW, so I'm under the impression that you won't need in-depth WoW knowledge to discuss the movie. So... are all the wacky new things in Warcraft 3 considered canon or not? I just assumed without thinking that the units and creeps in Warcraft 3 and WoW are canon. And I never said the story of WC3 was BAD, just that it was presented badly through a mediocre script. HUGE difference.
  6. Yep =p Nah, I just thought Warcraft 3's relatively weak storytelling and plot would have carried over into WoW. I haven't played WoW, but I've seen a few of the intro videos and cinematic trailers, and it just looks terribly weak and watered down to me. It's like everything is now a clear-cut "you vs. the bad guy" battle. Warcraft had just Orcs and Humans, and War2 introduced two-headed ogres and goblins (which were actually kind of funny!), forest trolls, high elves, dwarves and gnomes. War3 introduces: -Night Elves -Jamaican stereotype trolls -Drunken Pandas -Super-insane-high-tech Goblins (which were originally an April Fools joke) -A race of fish people all of a sudden. So not only are Night Elves immortal - when they go underwater they evolve into roughly 3 separate kinds of fish. -And about 30 different races of intelligent treasure-hoarding creatures and magical beings and treasure-hoarding creatures that know magic and summon magical beings and magical trees and giant stone people with trees growing on them that pick up trees and hit treasure-hoarding polar bears with the trees to get rings and books and scrolls to summon giant talking spiders that turn any dead animal into two armed and costumed skeletons and sometimes the skeleton is a wizard. And I couldn't help notice the characters were all pretty 1-dimensional. Warcraft 3's story had potential, but I really don't think they handled it well at all.
  7. Yeah that would work. So long as they don't assume the audience has any background knowledge of what happened before Thrall was born. Heck, the movie could even reveal the Orcs' demonic past at the same time Thrall learns about it (though I have no idea when that is).
  8. My thoughts exactly. It might do WoW players good to know what Blizzard storytelling was like before it turned stupid. A few years ago I decided to read the story from the Warcraft I and II instruction manuals... I have to say it's as dark as Diablo or LoTR. Even Warcraft III's instruction manual has a pretty dark and interesting story. In the Warcraft instruction manual there is a picture of an Ogre taking a huge bit out of a horse, and the Warcraft II manual contains drawings of an enraged Troll pierced with arrows, Orcs trying to taste the blood dripping from a human head held by another Orc, and an Orc with an expression of absolute agony as he's being turned into a freaking sheep. Warcraft was filled with crazy awesome stuff and a good movie-length story before it turned into a silly cartoon world. [Edit] To be honest, I can't imagine a decent Warcraft movie that doesn't sufficiently cover the origin of Orcs in Azeroth (the Dark Portal and all that stuff). I can't see them including Night Elves either without it getting very bad very fast (unless the movie is 4 hours and covers thousands of years of history).
  9. I only knew about the city. I'd consider drawing that if it wasn't likely the first thing to pop into one's mind upon reading "Katamari Damascus" =p That visual is only complete when accompanied by proper music. Naaaaa na na na na na na naa naa na na na na na naa naa naa naa
  10. Wait... I'm pretty sure this thread is about videogames. *head asplode*
  11. No offense, but your WIP is the QUIETEST thing ever! I had to turn my volume up to maximum to hear it on headphones, and it doesn't register anything on Winamp's oscilloscope (except for a tiny pixel vibration once or twice). As for my WIP... I guess technically it's even quieter because it is nonexistent. Well, aside from those three WIPs I've since abandoned. Don't worry challenger, I'll get started on this again eventually!
  12. Having not played a lot of Doom, I listened to the bear and then watched a Doom Cyberdemon video and a Doom 2 Cyberdemon video, and then the bear again, and I could not hear the same sound =( I'm sure they're the same though, if you guys say so =p But it's not unlikely that Doom and National Geographic or whatever just used the same stock bear sound - somehow I don't think they stole it directly from Doom
  13. The first one was when I built the all the sunken colonies too far away from my drones, so your marines gunned down all my drones from behind the minerals and I completely died =p (That was against you, right?) Looks like we're on even footing in that respect...
  14. Wait... so this means I'm against wind_strike right now? Since both of us didn't get to play round 2, do you think windstrike and I could play round 3 using round 2's maps, instead of waiting for the new round 3 maps? If that's ok with windstrike of course. We played two games and each won one, so this should be an interesting series
  15. Are Transformers REALLY easier to draw than people? I'd have a hell of a tough time trying to draw transformers... I'd list some, but I'm sure you've thought of them already (Wolverine, Gambit, etc.) Very acceptable =D As for me... I'm gonna do what I usually do and leave the FAC to the last minute and come up with something quick that's not super polished Or if I finish my Blizzard picture early, I might start the FAC drawing early too. Also, all the good Marvel vs. Capcom ideas I can think of involve characters/games I know almost nothing about... well, I'll think of something eventually.
  16. Things just got interesting for me. According to the front page of blizzard.com, the Blizzard Fan Art Competition is now available to people in other countries (e.g. me), but it doesn't say which countries! All I know is that at some point I'm going to draw a Blizzard picture and a Marvel vs. Capcom picture. The FAC deadline is a week Sunday, while the Blizz competition ends on the Friday right before... which means if I put all I've got into the Blizzard entry, I'm only gonna have 2 days to draw Marvel vs Capcom! And knowing me, those two days are going to disappear like hotcakes in a place where hotcakes typically disappear. What do I dooo??
  17. Wait... so I'm in the semi-finals without playing a match yet? VERY NICE! Unless by "DQ'd" you mean "Dairy Queen'd". I think both Neko and Battousai deserve a Blizzard But we don't know all the winners (or at least I don't). With Battousai and Nekofrog busy, I assume that means no replay-casting for round 2? =(
  18. Well it sounds like someone who knows English is reading stuff written by people who don't know English. At first I thought it might be chat text from a multiplayer game, but it must be a REALLY bad fanfic about the StarCraft campaign. Personally I prefer reading hilariously bad fanfics to listening to them. Having an intelligent person read it to you just makes it less funny.
  19. Hmm, no wonder I'm having so much trouble with my remix - I got one of the worst songs on the entire Tyrian soundtrack It's certainly a challenge... I'm thinking I should just try making an original song, and then sticking the 3-4 seconds of Tyrian melody in there. Trying to remix the repetitive intro/bassline has gotten me nowhere. The Alt-V in Fruity Loops certainly does help though
  20. If it's the Geico gecko... very cool. Lol, a bus. At least it wasn't the PC version, was it?? If Phantasmagoria was scary, the Weegee stare would've given you nightmares! For me, the only game I can really put on the list is Metroid II. I first played it long after the Gameboy Advance was out, and I enjoyed the atmosphere and exploration, and it was actually kind of creepy to play in the dark. It seemed odd to me that it was always called "the worst Metroid game". But having after beating the original Metroid, I decided to play through Metroid 2 again recently..... When you're not fighting metroids, that is some SLOW and often tedious gameplay. It's even worse than the Metroid Prime games. Especially the Spider Ball, ugh. Sure, the game included the first appearance of several staple re-occurring items, but compared to the first Metroid it just seems so tiny and slow and... forgiving. And the award for the game that's BETTER than I remember goes to: Super Smash Bros. on the N64. FUN FUN FUN and hilarious multiplayer, especially with items! The items and stages in Melee and Brawl do not compare, not even close. [Edit] Ah yes, how could I forget, one of my first PC games ever: Commander Keen. Has not stood the test of time in my opinion.
  21. I haven't tried for very long yet, but I'm having a tough time composing in Fruityloops. Does anyone know of a FREE midi program that can show more than one instrument/part at once (preferably with musical notes instead of a "piano roll"?) Should I ask this in the help/newbies section?
  22. All I can do is recommend what the other people in this thread have said. Also my tablet happens to have a light on it that lights up when the pen touches it... so if the light doesn't light up, that means I forgot to plug in the tablet =p
  23. I heard the Wii version is supposed to be "on rails", even though the original Deadspace was not. Is this true?
