  1. Pixie Trix are for kids...?
  2. For the first part of this quote, I don't feel that the interpretation is ever particularly liberal. Definitely coheres well with Lost Woods. Excellent arrangement, IMO. The transitions into the Water Temple usage are a little abrupt, but it doesn't bother me. What is this jumpy change you're referring to at 3:11, Larries? Sounds pretty natural to me. Very chill, but this piece definitely maintains interest throughout. You guys have so many awesome musical ideas; I love it! The take at 1:30 is particularly cool. Nice water drops and birdies, too. I do have a couple of issues, however: 1) There is clipping/distortion at 3:49, and again even more noticeably at 3:57. 2) The guitar solo-age is pretty consistently flat across the board. 0:21, 0:32, 1:04... Some sour notes around 2:16, 2:20, 3:05... I've noticed that particularly in your ascending lines, zyko, you tend to undershoot the pitch; take 3:19 for example. The entrance at 3:38 is also very flat, and then the echo part at 3:55 as well. Ouchieeeees... It doesn't have to be perfect, but when it becomes a significant distraction I think that's a problem. 3) The ending fades out a little too quickly for my personal taste. If you have a decent auto-tune program, I bet the pitch issues could be fixed manually. And maybe that would be easier than doing multiple takes to get it how you want? But I'm not sure what's causing the clipping/distortion at 3:49 and 3:57, so you may have to rerecord those spots depending. Touch up those things, and I'll YES this in a heartbeat. NO PLEASE RESUBMIT
  3. The arrangement is fairly creative in terms of source reinterpretation, but seriously lacking in energy. And I feel like the less than stellar production also drags this down. The samples, particularly the lead oboe, are extremely choppy and mechanical. Tempo stays strictly the same throughout the entire piece, and the constant piano 123's are articulated the same way each time. There is no shape to the meter, because every beat feels equally stressed. Know what I mean? Just because you're going for a gloomy sort of sound doesn't mean it can't be humanized, nor does it mean the piece can't go somewhere... more. The only section that really caught my interest was starting around 2:22, and even that felt muddied from the choppy sequencing. Sorry, I think I'm gonna have to say... NO RESUB
  4. Sounds slick, production is good, bound to be a trance crowd-pleaser... But honestly, I don't think this mix does much to *rearrange* the source at all. Sometimes I had to actually pause and go back to the original to find the connection; that's not a good sign. (And I used to play Starfox, believe it or not!) I think think some of you guys who voted YES should have another look at this, honestly. Whatever connection is there, it is... 1) loose 2) spread thin over a 6+ minute track Sorry! You'd have to make the original melody and chord progressions more prominent to get my vote. Maybe try them more or less verbatim the first time around, and then treat the piece like a trance theme & variations? Just an idea... NO PLEASE RESUBMIT
  5. Happaly birthalyday!
  6. Yeah, ditto. I wanted to thank her on her Facebook wall, but she doesn't have one!
  7. So good so good so good!
  8. By the way, I just put up "Red July" on my MySpace in full. You can listen to the whoooooole thing! :3
  9. Friends with benefits?! *fumes* Don't listen to Wingless. He was just the cohost before the cohost of all cohosts. XD
  10. Aw, thanks guys. I wasn't expecting a bump in this thread so soon, and after a stressful day that really makes me happy. I suppose I should get to adding the new preview to my site and MySpace. ...And here! The Secret Guards of Kalé
  11. Hahaha, wow, I feel dumb. Thanks DS - you got it! (And thanks for the help as well, Kanthos.)
  12. For anyone out there who uses Thunderbird as their email program... Just yesterday, I started having a problem. For some reason, none of my "read" mail is showing up in my inbox anymore. When I get a new message and read it, it disappears! My sent-box has remained unaffected. Any idea what could be happening here?
  13. Wow, what a comeback! Dis ish aweshome... Three cheers for Rayza!
  14. I care! Happy birthdayyyy!
  15. Nice wording there, zirkie. *Feels invalidated*
  16. Your argument doesn't even make sense, WesPip. And if you liked the previews and are sincerely interested in my album release, why didn't you post that a few days ago instead of completely unrelated trash? The ends don't quite meet here...
  17. To answer your question, the songs on Mystic Soundscapes are full length -- they have three tracks to be released on my album. (It wouldn't make much sense for a radio station to play only 40-second clips unless it was a commercial... )
  18. Ooh yay! I'll have graduated, though. You'll hafta hang out with DrumUltimA. ^_~
  19. It has nothing to do with knowing the right people; mods moderate. I didn't talk to anyone, let alone the Larries. :B amarriedmegaphone: Yes, I do have an original album coming out in the spring. There's a thread about it here: http://www.ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?t=11056 Previews are also posted on my website and myspace.
  20. It's okay, Shadowolf. He's just demonstrating the fact that he can't stand to see me receiving positive attention. That's cool that you heard Hajime without realizing some of my original songs had been added to their rotation. I was wondering if anyone would actually stumble upon them like that, so yay!
  21. Decaf tea should be fine.
  22. Somehow I don't think Ice CAPella would be the appropriate route for this album... ^_~ But actually, I may do a track a capella - or at least with an a capella section.
