Breaking Clouds (My Animations using OC ReMixes)
Liontamer replied to NikFlash's topic in General Discussion
Well, the poster is the creator, that's clear enough having read the credits in his own video. Why he's talking about himself in the 3rd person, I'll never understand. It just comes off very fake. That said, thanks for crediting the music! -
Alex Brandon's new album "Earthscape" now available!
Liontamer replied to AlexBrandon's topic in General Discussion
I gotta say, was streaming this last night, and I was loving it. Really fun stuff. Some people will hate on the autotuned vocals in "Square Mile" but I thought they were great. I loved hearing the range of the tracks. Having "Funky Rustic", "Eagles March", etc. on it are examples of how this is a very diverse album. -
OCR02049 - *YES* Super Mario Bros. 3 'Pipes'
Liontamer replied to OceansAndrew's topic in Judges Decisions
I'm enjoying the arrangement, but completely agree with Vinnie on the production and how the low-end sounds really crowded. It just doesn't sound solid and definitely needs to be cleaned up before we move forward. YES (conditional) -

There is no absolute, definite criteria. We have the discretion to handle situations like that on a case by case basis. But everything you said is pretty dead on as far as how we'd decide on something being OK as a game source.

OCR01983 - Animal Crossing "Letting Go"
Liontamer replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
This one's easily my favorite mix of OA's; silky smoove stuff. Much like Final Fantasy Adventure 'Wish Upon a Wendellian Star' for Big Giant Circles, 'Letting Go' is also the one that locked me into seeing Andrew as a possible judge. It's a great contribution to K.K. Setlist and I'm very glad we finally have it up here. Nice work! -
OCR01979 - Tales of Symphonia "Altar Perception"
Liontamer replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Not a writeup reader, I take it. -
No problem, I'm glad it was just a misunderstanding!

Absolutely not, for the reasons that Andy mentioned, and I'm not arguing it any further, because I'm not having a discussion. Anything removed from the site because it was STOLEN is NOT to be mirrored, even if there's tagging identifying the original identity. It would be different if DC13 and "Munisho" had actually made those tracks and they were just standards violations.

Friday, February 12, 5PM to Sunday, February 14, 5PM Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY http://genericon.union.rpi.edu For year #3, OCR will be rocking Genericon in Troy, NY. We're headed upstate to hang with the fans at RPI once again, and there's a 90% chance it'll be cold as hell. We love it there! Genericon is always an awesome convention. Now that I live in Atlanta, I'm too far away to attend without it costing $$$, so I'm :'-( But we've got a full boat of OCR stars that'll be there to present on the site, play some Street Fighter HD Remix, drop some live performance stuff for you, and hook you up with awesome ReMixes and OCR gear. Representing OC ReMix: djpretzel (10+ years of OC ReMix and still single; kidding, he has decent skills and a better half now) Anya (djp's better half, and former KGB, she prevents him from completely wasting his days watching Eli Porter and "Happy in Paraguay") DarkeSword (in a RARE in-person convention sighting, OMG) diotrans (she rocks) Palpable (he rolls) MOAR GUESTS! Echostream (music) Uncle Yo (comedy) Lawrence Eng (who has a doctorate in otaku, in all sryssnss)

Milky Way Wishes: A Kirby Super Star Tribute - History
Liontamer replied to Arek the Absolute's topic in Projects
I've not been able to be as involved in the day-to-day of OCR lately, and haven't had the time to get involved with discussion of this. I just PMed Arek on his decision to cancel this with no formal release of anything. I'm not down with the work here fading away or not being recognized, and that's basically what will happen if nothing's done. None of the staff had an opportunity to review the content, and that prevents us from making an educated decision on whether we should attempt to release something. I say let's take a listen to the muzak and WIPs, and if it's as cool as this art, let's do something with it. We have smaller albums, we have other concept albums, we have albums that include WIPs as bonus material. I think it's too impulsive to dismiss the work outright; let's take the opportunity to assess what's there and decide if we can release it. -

Uh, what's the deal with this just being abandoned? If there's music and art, and it's good, let's just release it formally. -

OCR02048 - *YES* Animal Crossing 'purdieoldays'
Liontamer replied to Palpable's topic in Judges Decisions
I haven't heard the mix yet, but it's basically a judgement call. If you feel the structure prevents the track from feeling cohesive, then you'd go NO. But otherwise, the sandwich approach isn't problematic for me at all as long as the source tune is used enough and the composition is cohesive and well-developed.
