  1. The Song: All information in text file: Contact information: ReMixer name: FreddeGredde Real Name: Fredrik Larsson Email: dsliquid@gmail.com Website: http://www.youtube.com/user/Freddie25 (if anything) Member profile: 26623 Submission information: Game: Mega Man 9 Individual songs: Opening 1, Menu, Concrete Jungle, Thunder Tornado, Splash Blue, Plug Electric, Jewel Temptation, Hornet Dance, Magma Burning, Galaxy Fantasy, Boss, Flash in the Dark, We're the Robots, Wily Machine Original composers: Ippo Yamada, Yu Shimoda, Ryo Kawakami, Hiroki Isogai Console: Wii, PS3 and Xbox360. (I played the WiiWare version.) Commments: I didn't find any great rock/metal versions of the songs from Mega Man 9, so I decided to do it myself. And since I don't like 50 second songs or looping in music, I decided to make a medley instead. --------------------------------------------------------------- Rockman 9: The Ambition's Revival!! Original Soundtrack - (01) Opening 1 [:10-:27] (11) Plug Electric (Plug Man Stage) [:27-1:16] (13) Hornet Dance (Hornet Man Stage) [1:16-1:48] (10) Splash Blue (Splash Woman Stage) [1:48-2:07] (16) Boss [2:07-2:32] (15) Galaxy Fantasy (Galaxy Man Stage) [2:32-3:06] (09) Thunder Tornado (Tornado Man Stage) [3:06-3:51] (24) Flash in the Dark (Dr. Wily Stage 1) [3:51-4:17] (12) Jewel Temptation (Jewel Man Stage) [4:17-5:00] (13) We're the Robots (Dr. Wily Stage 2) [5:00-5:38] (14) Wily Machine [5:39-6:11] (05) Menu [6:11-6:23] (08) Concrete Jungle (Concrete Man Stage) [6:23-6:53] (14) Magma Burning (Magma Man Stage) [6:53-7:27] The snare drum tone was a weak link for portions of the track (e.g. :34-2:01). It was too subdued a sound and didn't add any power to the track. What was up with the abrupt changeups at 2:06, 5:00 & 6:53? The transitions at 3:06, 3:50 and 6:11 also should have been smoothed out. The other theme changes worked fairly smoothly, but there were a lot of jarring moments that prevented the arrangement from sound cohesive. Yeah, this is lacking focus & direction, which is a shame, because it's pretty capably put together. But medley-itis plus drums that don't bring the power means I can't pass it. If you'd be willing to refine the arrangement so that the changes from theme to theme are smoother, this could be a contender because the expansive ideas aren't bad. In terms of something that would fit more with the development we're looking for, perhaps 2 separate medleys that explore the individual themes more would be an option. Fairly good stuff regardless. NO (resubmit)

I love what you're doing and have enjoyed all the great work others have offered and I have been wanting to contribute for some time. Hope you enjoy. --------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.tzone.org/~llin/psf/packs2/FF7_psf.rar - 305 "Those Chosen by the Planet" The execution with these samples is pretty decent; could sound a bit richer, but it's pretty solid. The texture still felt a bit sparse in places, and even the most grandiose written parts like 1:51-end weren't full enough and powerful enough. Despite the qualms with the production, the arrangement was pretty substantial, and that's keeping the brief length and slow pacing in mind. The dynamics were solid, and would have been better had the instrumentation given the full effect. Though I'd rather see this tweaked, I can roll with this as is. YES (borderline)

First entered it in DoD back in March. However, I completely re-recorded it so the production doesn't suck, like the first version. www.tonydickinson.net -------------------------------------------------------------- Tough call. I know I asked Tony to give it a shot and sub this, since I liked it and felt it could get some support, but it's a tough call as a mega-medley. LuIzA's FF series medley "Fire Cross" is a great example of a medley executed very effectively. http://snesmusic.org/v2/download.php?spcNow=mmx - A bunch of 'em This is definitely a lot quieter than expected. Do what you can to raise the overall levels and add some highs to it. The effort was made to smooth some the transitions, however, 1:23, 3:37 & 5:47 in particular were weak, abrupt transitions. Within the usage of each theme, everything was expanded and personalized, and 4:28-onwards was the arrangement at its most creative and interpretive. But I could just as easily see this getting NOed for the medley-itis structure of "do one theme, move quickly to the next" that didn't leave much breathing room for development of several of the themes. This is definitely an improvement over the DoD version on the production side, and I definitely like this, but it's just nagging on me that the way the themes are pieced together just isn't as cohesive as it should be. And so I've gotta vote honestly that it's a NO (resubmit).
  4. # The Gurentai # k@thegurentai.com # http://www.thegurentai.com "Cry My Bloody Tears" ドラキュラII呪いの封印, Castlevania 2 「Bloody Tears」 インタネットサイト http://www.lastfm.jp/music/Konami+Kukeiha+Club/_/Bloody+Tears ----------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.zophar.net/download_file/13508 - Track 2 ("Bloody Tears") This is pretty solid, but it's not up to the standard set by other rock mixes. The mixing was a bit cluttered and grating, the production of the electrosynth first used at :43 didn't quite mesh with the rest of the instrumentation. Seems like a guitar synth for the lead; not bad. Certainly produced decently for what it was; it managed to have some body even if the note-to-note movements sounded stiff. 2:57-4:14 was practically a cut-and-paste of :00-1:43, which was weak. Revisit the guitar articulations, refine the second half to bring something new to the arrangement instead of a retread and clean up the mixing a bit and this could be good to go. NO (resubmit)

Thank you for your consideration, Alecto & Redbeard ------------------------------------------------------------------ http://snesmusic.org/v2/download.php?spcNow=ff6 - "Wild West" (ff6-117.spc) Heard what seemed like some crackles/pops in the intro. 1:08 picked up the energy a bit with some beats, but the texture felt pretty empty. Really during the whole thing, the beats seem flimsy. The sequenced woodwind part at 2:18 has a sour note; I know it's supposed to be an arrangement, so there's no point off simply because that one note was changed, but it still sounded off. 2:52 moved into another take on the melody. It's definitely an interpretive take, but the way everything combines together doesn't click. 3:26 was another example where some new elements transitioned in that made the overall texture seem thin and empty. This definitely went for a new, interpretive sound, and I appreciate that. But the instruments just aren't working together in these combinations. Gonna have to leave it to another J to elaborate on. NO

Matthew: Drums, Strings, Vocals and Mastering Name of Game: Sonic the Hedgehog Name of Song Arranged: Dreams of an Absolution (Silver's Theme) Composer: Lee Brotherton from Remix Factory System: Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 Year Released: 2006 Soundtrack Link: Connor's Comments: Back in July 2008, I was being plagued by Dreams of an Absolution being stuck in my head. A few days later, though I was talking to Matthew about the fact that he owed me a song, and I instantly thought of a doing this, becuase this song could really benefit from both his voice and his amazing wealth of instruments. So, I showed him the original song and he was hooked, soon enough I had a nice live percussion part on my computer. The vocals took awhile, 4 months to be exact, but I finally got them, and placed them in the mix. Then, someone suggested that it may be fit for Overclocked ReMix with the proper editing and mastering. So, I did so. And then Matt took the liberty of mastering it as well. Very polished for something that just started as a selfish little way to get a song out of my head. Oh, the title is just a reworking of the original, as this is a reworking. Matts Comments: This collaboration is the result of days after days of hard work. Though I must admit, we did have a near 4 month period of doing nothing, due to me being overly critical about my voice and not actually sending them to Connor until I re-did it. Though once that was out of the way, I gradually started to really love this version. All the acoustic-ness and groove sets me going and singing along. I would have more to say about this song, but I am currently speechless. I just hope that you enjoy listening as much as I enjoyed performing and collaborating with Connor." ---------------------------------------------------------------- Awesome song from Mariko Nanba with lyrics & vocals by OCR alum LeeBro, now known as Bentley Jones. Sonic the Hedgehog Original Sound Track - (301) Dreams of an Absolution ~Theme of Silver the Hedgehog~ Short and sweet. Pretty good for a cover. Though the lyrics were 98% the same, the different pacing, new instrumentation & supporting parts, new vocal delivery and different vocal production really made this a different animal, IMO. The muddiness of the last few minutes was pretty bad though. I thought the first chorus at 1:47 was a little cluttered, but nothing that would be a dealbreaker. 3:31 until the finish had the vocals & sounds bleeding into each other too much. If you can tweak that, you've got my full vote, but for now I need to go conditional YES. Regardless of that issue, this was a good example of taking a modern song and showing how it's possible to retain the basic structure and still give it a new, creative coat of paint. EDIT (7/23): I wasn't a fan of the NOs honestly; this was a pure conditional YES on tweaking the production. Interesting changes to the arrangement. Hand drums sounded pimp as per the last version. On the minus side, I wasn't a fan of the new drums at 3:32. One of those things that will definitely annoy me, but I could live with it. Really didn't need those at all; the dynamics were fine before and they didn't add a thing except clutter. They weren't cohesive there IMO, since they were too loud and the pattern was too simplistic and bland. That also meant the last section was still a bit crowded, but it wasn't a big deal; this was much better than before in terms of the mixing. I'm a big fan of the original, and this handles it well. I'm glad to change my vote from a conditional YES to a full YES. Hope y'all collab again, guys, this was solid stuff.
  7. Big deal. You can probably count the number of people on one hand who hate Capcom because of this. "Nintendo has been on my shit list ever since I learned the US Super Mario Bros. 2 wasn't the Japanese Super Mario Bros. 2. HOW COULD YOU DO THAT?!? I hate you Nintendo."

  9. Well, I think you have the right idea in terms of believing your work is good. Any artist needs that kind of faith in their own abilities in order to persevere in the face of negative comments. As long as you can dismiss criticism you feel is not constructive and focus on relevant criticism, you should be fine in the long run as long as you're also dedicated to improvement and open to the possibility that this could be a lot better. I think this is good in the context of being a first video, but only in that context. The hyperbole in the description caused much of the negative feedback you're getting, because it doesn't live up to that hype. But you already know that.
  10. Cool find. Yeah, confirming this issue in IE as well. Firefox is cool. http://www.ocremix.org/artist/4556/siamey
  11. It's not an uproar, relax. A couple of people replied.
  12. I thought the video was weak, honestly. It's just not very good, for reasons already mentioned. Don't doubt there's energy behind it, but that doesn't make it good. We've all gotta start somewhere, so this doesn't preclude making better videos in a few years time.
  13. Seen a couple of Chinese spammers sign up since vB 3.8.1 went live (whom I delete outright the moment I see them), but the Demya.com automated spam is no longer making it through. If that stuff somehow works around what's in place now, we'll look into practical ways of addressing it.
  14. We saw that problem before you posted. But the point isn't that those old style links don't work because of the hyphens, because we're phasing those out anyway. The point is that the old style links are still there and need to be replaced by the new style.
  15. Artists combines Composers & ReMixers http://www.ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?t=21629 djp will eventually add something that allows filtering for just composers and just ReMixers.

  17. Lots of groove bias here. Good stuff given the age; the piano has a nice tone to it.
  18. Sorry I didn't see this sooner. Entries are due March 1st. If you've seen the Street Fighter Tribute book UDON put out (OC ReMixer zid had a piece in that one, BTW), they're at it again with Darkstalkers, accepting professional caliber submissions for their Capcom-endorsed art book. http://www.udonentertainment.com/darkstalkerstribute/ Binjovi, I'm looking at YOU.
