Looking for guitar-based remixes...
Salluz replied to Johannes_von_Luck's topic in General Discussion
Working on one myself, but it'll be a while before I submit it. -
How to be a better electronic drummer
Salluz replied to Legion303's topic in Music Composition & Production
I learned a lot of these techniques on my own, but cool beans. I abhor repetitive, boring beats. -
ITT we marvel @ geniuses (and highly talented people)
Salluz replied to Salluz's topic in General Discussion
Cool, I'm all for it, that is, if what you do = genius or something close to it. -
Miyavi - Intro + Selfish Love I can't even properly applaud this dude's skills. I HAVE to become a beast at guitar now. You can post the works of any genius, but I'm was speaking primarily on musical geniuses.

I plan to contribute more when I can afford it, but as a member, you're welcome.

How to make drums sound "electronic"?
Salluz replied to a Fire over Eden's topic in Music Composition & Production
Let me take some time to figure out some ideas. Depends on the expected and/or needed level of complexity. -
For those of you who don't know me, I am Salluz (Cedric), and I have been working on music since the year of 2003. I listen to a lot of non-mainstream music, classics (usually mainstream), classical and VGM in order to keep a sense of uniqueness and level of skill (because really, Soulja Boy just doesn't do it for me). WIPs The Awakening The Nighttime The Chase (most recent so far) One obvious thing in my music is that I need some more subliminal variations; improv; less robotics of a DAW and more human skill. I can make my music sound improved or even better-written, however, it's taking me more work to click with the mouse when I hear a million things that need to be done. I am going to have to learn and practice keyboad and guitar daily. Now, I can find plenty of faults with these songs but regardless, I still want some judging because I can grow and gain ideas that way. I know that "there's no one exact way to create a song", however, I do need to learn more about musical formality, despite the fact that I do know some things. I have never taken a music class (but I plan to), can't always name the names of notes that I hear (yet) and can pay instruments a little, mostly because I am a beignner at instrumentation and note-reading, but everything has been done in my mind. I have taught myself techniques that you may or may not hear in my music (yet) and have come to a place where I must excel. So, what do you think? Any ideas? Suggestions? Criticisms? Whatever else?

Power Stone 1 is pretty good too; better for duels; PwS2 is best for party-type fun.

After internal swelling from food poisoning, you just made the last of my day. of course, this has nothing to do with the project.

Games that aren't as good as you remember
Salluz replied to Avatar of Justice's topic in General Discussion
The Final Fight games were off da chain! Play the third, especially with a 2P human player. Fun, but not as cool as when I was in fourth grade, which was 1998-1999. Sonic and Mario kicked so much more ass. -
Is ticket-buying pre-show a must or an option? I don't want to go to Cincinatti for nothing, lol

It's a maybe. Lemme check the date.

Yahoo might have it.

I'm waiting for them... "MYKAL JAXN DYYYYD BCUZ UV GAWDZ JUJJMINTS!" Yeah, I couldn't stomach the moment of MJ's daughter. Words can't explain how much she must be devastated by her father's death. Such a pretty girl too, so I hope that nothing happens to her.

VG Opinion Poll #13 - Has OCR helped you musically?
Salluz replied to glasfen's topic in General Discussion
Lyrics (subject, skill, depth, meaning, symbolism, uniqueness) * rhythm * (notation/orchestration (including vocals, especially rap-singing, and more especially if it's actual singing) *style aka "swag") * (arrangement = purpose + abstraction) = arrangement(x) = duration) * uniqueness = quality That's the musical part. The rest are gimmicks, which the media uses to promote certain styles, sometimes making others less cliche. It's all about profit and easy ways to do it; more business-oriented and deceitful than real. Why not be real and fervent in business? It takes more energy; something that only a lover of art would or could contribute. Dynamics of the sound of the guitar (+/-/0) * rhythm (impossible techniques and speeds make the guitar sound either fake or like a unison of multiple players in one band, possibly doing it wrong) * octaves/chords/notation suitable to a guitar (a million bass notes w/ a million high notes will not reciprocate properly, nor will it sound natural, even if there are a million people playing; the mathematics must work in law of reciprocity) * physics of guitar playing (strums, power chords, regular chords, solo strings, bass-acoustic-electric relationships) * quality of sound (bit rate/sample rate/interpolation/etc) [+/*( more if necessary or applicable)] = overall quality and actual effect, since realism plays a role, though the electronic and digital can enhance that nature. Only you know this. We all can make calculations of limitations for ourselves and find ways to raise those limits, which of course, have a given maximum that we may not know. It's wonderful to know what NOT to do. -
New video! -Video Games and the Female Audience-
Salluz replied to sephfire's topic in General Discussion
I've only seen female objection to video games outside of my family. Like, my mom is certainly not a gamer, but if she sees me playing something cool then she might have an interest in it. In fact, when I bought Sonic Adventure 2, she played City Escape and LOVED it! My sisters were both gamers, but my younger sister (who's older than me) moved on from them for the most part. My oldest sister doesn't play them as much but she WILL play some Mario 3! Hell yeah! By stereotype, guys tend to be more visual, which may have something to do with why we play games more than women in general. If there was a "hot guy" video game, it'd be more likely that gay guys would play it than women. Like, once my pastor said this: get a female strip club. You'll have men drooling, handing over money like it's Xerox; get a male stripper club. You'll have two gays at a bachelor party. -

A. Yes I've heard more input from musicians on OCR than in the mainstream, sadly. Commercialism is pretty low on the skill scale, depending on what, specifically. -
