  1. That's a really good point. I'm totally prepared to, if given an adequate algorithm, write a Python script or something to generate accurate ratings, but I'm clueless on what that algorithm would look like. All I know is for two equally matched players, a rating change of (W, D, L) = (+18, 0, -18) would occur. Beyond that, I would need instruction. But it's not like we're hurting without it either. If you're a player who's into that kind of thing, I suggest www.playchess.com.
  2. Have you thought about having only a finite number of points, based on the number of players entered? I.e., a new player joins, and starts with a default of 50 points. That way, the only way to gain or lose points is to exchange with other players, and the amount one player loses should be equal to the amount that the other player gains. So if a player doesn't play for a couple of weeks, his points are unaffected. Sounds like an ELO rating.
  3. Unnhhh! I feel like I should watch ESPNNews for the weekly update of OCRCL. That's a good thing.
  4. It's so pretty... but at the same time, I feel.... dyslexic.
  5. Yeah, I'm already in a Folding At Home group that isn't OCR related.
  6. Estoy aqui. This new idea of Kamoh's is exciting. It feels a lot like baseball to me. Hey why is Week 1 dubbed "Week 0"? I'm sure there's a good reason for it... Oh, and Kamoh, I have a weird request to make - if you intend on posting updates and standings and all that stuff we like and you're so good at, can you do one little thing: since handles at OCR are case-sensitive, can you spare me searching through the entire thread looking for someone's post to know exactly how to spell their handle (e.g. does RocketSniper have a space, capital letters, etc.) and instead just label their standings in exactly the way it is at OCR? I appreciate the consideration.
  7. But it's still pertinent now. Hey, just out of curiosity, do you know of any translations to the lyrics to KOTR online? If so, could you post the link here? I tried searching for them, but didn't find anything.
  8. ... That's in my own sig, dude. I wasn't talking about you. Click on the link to go to the same place as was in my previous post. patzerpatzerpatzerpatzerpatzerpatzerpatzerpatzerpatzerpatzerpatzerpatzerpatzer
  9. So, I have a funny story about a hard boss... Granted, Giygas was far from the hardest boss I've faced, and realitstically he isn't even close to the hardest boss in EarthBound alone, but even so, if one does not know how to defeat him, then it can get kind of tricky. At one point, I was in Giygas's last incarnation, and I had prayed a total of 8 times, with the standard results, and everything was going as planned, when suddenly, after inputting my teammates' attacks, (NESS: Bash, PAULA: Pray, JEFF: something?, POO: Lifeup, Ness) Giygas's attack rendered Poo 'confused.' No big deal, since only Paula had to survive to pray just one more time, and the game would be over. No such luck - after Ness got his bash in, Poo used lifeup on... who?... Giygas! Lifeup Sigma completely revives the HP of exactly one of your party members, and, confused, he had accidentally revived Giygas to full HP! That's exactly what the script read, too. "Giygas HP is restored!" or whatever. So, mouth agape, I watch as Paula performs her 9th prayer, and... it works, just like it's supposed to, proving that the final battle is just a script, just as we suspected it was. But in retrospect, I found that story to be quite humorous.
  10. I, also, enjoy most the ending climax - very well constructed for maximum output. And while having never played the game, I have to admit that this piece has a very catchy melody. I wonder about the name of the piece, though - discrete reference to SC Vanguard's 2006 show? Probably just a coincidence.
  11. If you spent the time and effort to earn the SUPER BOSS KILLER MOVES in either of the first two Xs, then Sigma was, in fact, super duper easy. You know who was harder than any incarnation of Sigma? Dr. Wily's third incarnation in Mega Man 7, for SNES. Only one hit per appearance, using a weapon that took about two (2) hit points, I think, (he had no obvious weaknesses) and avoiding four (4) bursts of elemental damage that took roughly 1/9 of your life meter. And it's not like the bursts were easy to avoid, either!
  12. Howdy M&M! (actually, I just wanted to say that.) So, It looks like all we have in common is.. Queen ...I'm a percussionist! Hey! We should start a band!
  13. ... Are you denying this? It's truth, not criticism. I'm not sure I know what you mean. The percussion part has already been written, just never midi'd accurately. If that's what you meant, then of course there's no denying it. ...whew. This means that the recording that is posted in this thread doesn't have the percussion part I already wrote, though Steben is working in Finale to get it to sound accurate to the intention.

  15. Goody, goody. I get to hear it first. I get to hear it first. So, like, you gotta check out the Tech-Notre Dame game in two weeks. I hope it turns out well - we knocked off two 3rd ranked teams last year. Miami and ... oh gosh... What was that other one??
  16. Don't want to lose this thread yet... At least not before I get to hear the whole piece. Is anybody working on making a midi of the new horns and drums? I'd really like a copy of the finished product. Any new updates, Steben?
  17. Just out of curiosity, Nathaír, how would you pronounce your name?
  18. So I'll tell you what the word is - Had drum camp at Tech this past weekend, and Eric, our drumline specialist, informed some of us that his associate "Tater" is instructing the AU drumline this summer... And apparently has been forced to start from square one with his people. Which is good for them, don't get me wrong - but it's still funny to me. Proving yet again GT's superiority to AU in one more area.
  19. Not that the battle was that difficult, but I had the hardest time with Lanky's part. I think it took me like 3 tries before I even figured out how to defeat K. Rool.
  20. GBC, not GBA. GBA got A Link to the Past. Oh yeah. My bad.
