  1. Between Zero's Ryuejin and Dante's Jam Session, I almost never fall prey to teleports. Ryuejin, even when it misses moves me out of range of Wesker's inital attack, and Jam Session has massive push, so even if they block when they teleport, they get pushed way back. Iron Man's Repulsor Blast is excellent, but it takes a while to start up, so you almost have to know that the teleport is coming.
  2. I find that musicians who have never used a DAW are kind of frightened by it, and as a result they instantly come to hate electronic music because they feel like it invalidates their own method of making music (which absolutely untrue).
  3. I actually ended up mastering my track anyway to submit to the judges, so I have a mastered track ready to go!
  4. My current team: Zero, Dante, Iron Man I can almost beat arcade on hard . And I've actually won a few online matches! Whoo! I can't stand the PS3 controller though. I knew I should've gotten this for 360...
  5. It also has to do with the popularity of the game. I had a SNES when MMX 1, 2, and 3 came out, so I played the hell out of those and loved the music. I didn't get a PlayStation until years after MMX 4, 5, and 6 came out, so I didn't have the opportunity to grow and love those titles' music as much. By the time MMX 7 and 8 were out, I had moved on to other franchises and couldn't really keep up with MMX anymore.
  6. This. I begin with my Sennheiser HD 280 headphones, but after I do a preliminary mix, I test it on every sound system I own- laptop speakers, car stereo, home stereo, iPod headphones, etc. Then I go back and make adjustments as necessary. No one system will ever give you a solid, 100% idea of what your mix sounds like. You need to test it on many different types. Laptop speakers- not usually very helpful. Frequency response is horrible but sometimes it can help identify piercing frequencies that might be overlooked on richer speakers. Car stereo- I listen to music in my car a lot, probably more than any other sound system I own, so I find it to be incredibly helpful in the general shape of the mix, but details are not easy to identify. Home stereo- my home stereo is mediocre at best, so it's not terribly great, but the massive sub woofer helps me monitor the low end, which isn't represented very well in my HD 280s. iPod headphones, these are about the same as the laptop speakers, but since they're closer to my ears, it usually helps me find problems with the high end.
  7. I know you're looking for more radio drama type stuff, as well as stuff that remixes the original video game tunes, but when I see the words "video game story music", it just screams .It's a rock opera based heavily on the plot of the Mega Man franchise. I just saw them live a week ago and they were AMAZING. "Father of Death" live is an experience I will never forget.
  8. This. Low freqs tend to have a rumble to them when distorted, high freqs will have a hissing sound. Distorted upper-mids are the ones that will really pierce your eardrums and generate a "harsh" sound.
  9. I always called it a Z-pound because you have to hit the Z button to do it. But I think I've also called it a ground pound and a butt stomp, so I think they're all acceptable forms.
  10. Your post basically said that you didn't like the game because it encourages people to actually learn to play it. As others have said, spamming is pretty easy to counter, if you know how to play the game. I personally like the fact that the game has so many ways to encourage you to learn. Getting hit a lot? Learn to block. Can't land a lot of consecutive hits? Learn to combo. Getting spammed with annoying moves? Learn to counter them. Tired of getting killed in oinline matches? Practice in Arcade/Training/Mission Mode. The way you describe, it sounds like you feel the game is broken. And it may be, but certainly not because of spammy moves, poor ranking system, or the fact that it's heavily based on previous titles in the series. The game gives plenty of ways to avoid/counter these situations. You just merely don't want to take those avenues and would rather have the game just hand it over to you. And that's fine, but that's not what competitive games are for. Smash Bros. Brawl removed a lot of these kinds of inequalities because many players (like yourself) did not appreciate the complexity of the game and were tired of getting killed by people who did appreciate it. So Nintendo decided they would try to diminish the competitive aspect of the game. Ask any competitive Smash Bros player, Melee is still the preferred version for tournaments because Brawl so heavily leveled the playing field between experienced and inexperienced players.
  11. His "point" was that n00bs don't get crushed in basketball, which is completely false. There is always a spectrum of skill from best to worst. If you want to play easier opponents, Arcade Mode is always available. No use bitching about players who are good at the game. And you can have cake, and you can eat it. But once you eat it, you don't have it anymore. That's the point. Cake=Competitive game Eating It=Make sure all skill levels will win You can have a competitive game, and you can make all skill levels win. But then you don't have a competitive game anymore.
  12. Yes because we all know that every single basketball player is as good as Michael Jordan and Lebron James. Regardless of the competition, there are always winners and there are always losers. People who don't want to be losers have to practice to get better. Now me? I'm a huge loser (at MvC3, and sometimes at life ), but I don't play for competition, I play for fun. So losing isn't a big deal to me. If you get your panties in a bunch because you got pwned online, then man up and start practicing and learning the game mechanics and characters. You can't have your cake and eat it to.
  13. Strangely enough, I find that Quick Match will not get you a match as quickly as Custom Match. I have mine set to Same Region, Any Language, Same Rank and I usually find an opponent on the first or second try. I have only gotten Quick Match to work once after over two dozen tries.
  14. Do you know how to get around this if you have Fair Use? I had to do that for a video I did using a Dragonforce song. I had already given full credit to the artist in my video description but YouTube insisted it be blocked and removed the audio from my video. After responding to YouTube's claims that I was illegally posting the song with an excerpt from some document that explained the purpose of my video, they restored it.
  15. Rama's very right. There's a lot that goes into deciding whether high-res models, pre-rendered, or realtime cutscenes should be used. One thing I never noticed until I got God of War I and II on PS3, scenes that I could have swore on an SDTV were in-game scenes are actually pre-rendered (this is because the in-game models were rendered in 720p but all the pre-rendered cutscenes remained in 480i). This also speaks to further the integrity of games like Shadow of the Colosuss, which have no pre-rendered cutscenes that I am aware of (I have about 4 hours of SotC HD footage on my hard drive).
  16. I find that the push for more "mainstream" accessibility (simple mode, x-factor, etc.) isn't that big of a deal. I was kind of upset when Smash Bros did the same thing (no L-cancel, tripping, Final Smash), but an experienced player can still win with all of these annoyances. And MvC3 balanced the Simple Mode very well. You're never going to be able to compete with Simple Mode. The moveset is just entirely too limited and prone to errors. But for people who have no idea what they're doing, it makes the game kind of fun.
  17. Jaroban, forget those dips. From the first time I heard My Greatest Rival, I was loving it. The fact that it deliberately draws from the Pokemon TV show theme makes it a work of genius.
  18. I think this remix is an good example of what you can accomplish with a basic DAW. This entire remix was done in Garage Band 2.0 (iLife '05) on a first generation iMac G5. No third party plug-ins or samples were used, only the built-in Garage Band samples and effects. Glad you guys liked this mix! It was one of my first successful remixes and I'm so happy that people enjoy it.
  19. That was done in Garage Band 2.0 (iLife '05) on a first generation G5 iMac. Glad you liked it!
  20. Um, my remix "Out Of Antidote" was done entirely in Garage Band with all default samples and effects. GB has more to it than you might realize.
  21. I feel the same way Stevo. My remix is pretty much unchanged from when it first reached "final" status back in 2006. Other than some minor mixing and mastering tweaks, that song is a representation of me at the very beginning of my remixing! This whole album is amazing! It has been a great opportunity to be involved in the community and only a place like OCRemix could give it the grand fanfare it deserves. Thanks to everyone who made this gift possible!
  22. Speaking from a noob's perspective, I find that Wolverine and Deadpool are my choices when I need a speedy character to compensate for my general lack of knowledge of efficient play. Choosing the right moves that will be able to execute before you get hit is very important, and if you don't know those moves, you'll need a fast, in-your-face fighter to compensate. Also, Thor is awesome, but his attacks are very close range, which again from a noob's perspective is pretty difficult because you try to keep your distance, which characters like Dante, Wolverine, and Deadpool let you do.
  23. My favorite three so far: Zero - Dante - Wolverine and I kinda like Thor. and Spidey's fun but he darts around alot. Also, my skill level is barely above a retarded baby button mashing so I will gladly play (and lose) to anybody on PSN: Cerrax3
  24. *cough*georgelucas*cough*cough* Ahem, excuse me, I have a bit of cold. But yeah Bleck is right.
