[08:44] <Brandon> yeah, tell them they're a bunch of slippery lizards [08:44] <Brandon> i guess you dont care about WAITING AN EXTRA MONTH! [08:44] <Rexy> ... --- Rexy here. I apologize for the delay on the resub, but Brandon and I have been extremely busy since the original decision. Thank you all for your feedback on the original WCRG version, and we managed to take everything to heart with the re-production. The concerns raised about the strings, piano and general mixing have been attended to, as well as one unexpected twist of a change of piano patch because the old one that was used kept crashing the session files. o_O* Everything about the arrangement still remains intact though. Now that I think of it, because Cossack is a RUSSIAN scientist, I guess I regret not fitting in a Tetris cameo... >_> But that can be saved for another day. Thanks again for your consideration, and again to Darke for hosting the WCRG! Peace out, -Rexy- (This has got to be my shortest submission email ever)
  7. Your ReMixer name: Magellanic Your real name: Liam Charalambous Your userid: 45748 Name of game(s) arranged: Sonic & Knuckles Name of arrangement: Super Sonic Fireballz Name of individual song(s) arranged: Lava Reef Zone Act 1 Comments: I was rather gutted at being knocked out of the Sonic competition when I found out that in the next round I would be mixing Lava Reef Zone. Its a level that I wasn't really familiar with before the compo but when I heard it I just HAD to make a heavy rock mix of it. I love the melody and the motif that runs throughout just sticks in your head and gets you dancin' in your chair. I almost ended up emphasizing the latin feel but decided to keep it strictly in the confines of heavy rock. Well, almost. There is a smattering of chiptune. Whilst doing this mix I discovered the joy of famitracker. The harmonic progression is dead simple but if I've achieved nothing else, I've managed to get what was in my head, into my daw and into mp3 format for other people to hear. The arrangement is on the conservative side for OCR, but hopefully there is enough personalisation. Rozovian (Just love 'im) couldn't make his mind up on it so, who better to judge than the lovely panel?! Even if the mix falls before the mighty joojcat I hope that you guys can at least enjoy 3 minutes of some heavy rockin' Sonic coz' I damn well enjoyed making it 00:00 - 00:07: Original 00:08 - 00:14: Variation of Source B section 00:15 - 00:21: Original, uses Source Main Theme chords 00:22 - 00:28: Source Main Theme 00:29 - 00:35: Original based off Source Main Theme 00:36 - 00:42: Source Intro variation as transition 00:43 - 00:50: Source Main Theme 00:51 - 00:56: Original based on Source Main theme 00:57 - 01:10: Source B section with variation/embellishment 01:11 - 01:39: Original breakdown section 01:40 - 01:46: Source Main Theme 01:47 - 01:54: Original transition using Source Theme chords 01:55 - 02:00: Main source Intro 02:01 - 02:14: Original melody/solo based on Source Main Theme 02:15 - 02:21: Source Intro 02:22 - 02:43: Original solo, Source Main Theme Chords 02:44 - End: Source B section embellishment 1:30 of Original and 1:34 of Source....roughly. Hope that helps some. Thank you for listening and thank you again for the awesome feedback.
  8. This sounds pretty good to me, though there are a few empty sections near the beginning with just super hard hitting guitar and mallets. It feels really disjointed and could use some string beds supporting it or something. Once it got going it was solid, though I thought the lead playing could have been a lot tighter. It's an interesting use of the source, since the original was really peppy and this has a doom-style droning grind to it, but I think it's above the bar. Yes

Games: Sonic Colors (Wii), Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (Game Gear) Sonic Colors composer: Kenichi Tokoi (sound producer) Tomoya Ohtani Fumie Kumatani Mariko Nanba Hideaki Kobayashi GameGear composer: Naofumi Hataya Title: Will-o'-the-Wisp Judge stuff: Pretty much uses just stuff within the first 10 seconds of each source so shouldn't be too confusing. Usage: 0:00 - 0:11 Underground Zone 0:16 - 0:34 Both 0:34 - 0:52 Planet Wisp (you hear it on the backing piccolo / violin) 0:52 - 1:29 Planet Wisp (hear it on violin / trumpet) 1:29 - 1:47 Underground Zone 1:47 - 2:07 Planet Wisp 2:07 - 2:21 Planet Wisp solo section (on the beautiful Chamberlin flute, xylophone, violin) 2:21 - 2:40 Underground Zone played on the Xylophone 2:44 - 3:05 Planet Wisp solo section again 3:05 - 3:23 Underground Zone 3:23 - 3:41 Planet Wisp (same section as 0:34 minus guitar/drums/etc) 3:41 - 4:18 Planet Wisp 4:18 - end Underground Zone with some Planet Wisp Go ahead and post it if it passes, and the other Sonic mix too "Don't Be a Crepe". No point holding them back when they're already public. MIX NOTES: Another song for the Sonic chapter of that album I wanna make. For this one, I made a giant session with 4+gb worth of samples just because I wanted to prepare a template that had the basics in it -- full band, full orchestra, choir, some ethnic instruments, some mellotrons. Specifically the Chamberlin samples which sound pretty incredible, if I didn't point it out as a mellotron sample you might not have even known. This song is super stuffed with the orchestra because I tried to put a better emphasis on that than I have in the past, make it more out front rather than just buried. And I recorded the string "chords" as separate violins to emphasize realism rather than just record it as chords. It really comes out as a wall of sound and it's super heavy and I like it that way, hope it is not seen as being "too much" or "muddy" when the judgement comes around. The cool thing is I could render the orchestra/ethnic stuff on its own and it would sound good, or the full band on its own and either way it would sound like an interesting song. Together, it should sound like totes interesting yo. Thanks ya'll. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=So7zkAGXmRc
  10. ok, you can be Drago, i'm only 5'9. I guess that means I get the Siberian nowhereland to train while you get the uber-blinged top secret training facility. Oh well, i'll still train my hardest!

  14. Name: Arceace Real name: Ben Clifton Email address: Game: Crash Bandicoot Warped Arrangement name: “Tiny’s Requiem” Original track: Tiny Tiger Theme Link: Comments: This is a remix for the Crash Bandicoot Warped album project. This is by far the most aggressive arrangement that I have ever attempted. It all originally started off with an experiment with a hard-core drum sample pack that I downloaded when I realized that I could make them sound pretty loud. I figured I would mess around with Tiny’s theme and see what happened. To my surprise, I really liked what happened and I decided to finish it for the album project. Tiny has always been my favorite villain from the crash series, and I really wanted to reflect on his character when making this remix. I remember that every battle that I had with Tiny as a kid was relentless, so I wanted to make sure that the song reflected what I felt. My major focus was getting the drums to pound throughout the whole song. I also tried to get some pretty rough sounds to accompany the drums. In the end, I really like how this turned out, and I hope it is a pleasure to listen to. -Arceace
  15. Contact Information ReMixer name: Dekamik Real name: Dennis von Bargen Email: Website: http://soundcloud.com/dekamik/ Submission Information Game arranged: Mega Turrican Name of arrangement: Mega Turrican Techno Medley Songs arranged (order of appearance): Level 1-1, Level 1 Secret Area, Level 1-2, Level 3-3 Comments: I’ve always been a fan of video game music. It started with Command & Conquer Red Alert and Unreal (the very first game, not tournament) on PC and Secret of Mana on Super Nintendo, and since then I’ve been hooked with a burning passion for music. I didn’t actually grow up with any Turrican game at all. It wasn’t until around autumn 2008 that I found out about this franchise and checked the music out. The music from the Turrican games changed my view on music forever, and I was especially impressed by the Mega Turrican versions, considering the fact that most soundtracks for the Sega Genesis sounded quite bad. Before that, I didn’t know exactly how musically capable the Yamaha YM2612 chip actually is; it was quite a revelation. Then and then, June 17th , I got a lot of inspiration for making a remix out of a Turrican song, and so I decided to make a medley as a tribute to some of the best and most underrated video game music out there. Cheers
  16. ReMixer name: Dj CUTMAN ft. Benjamin Briggs Real Name: Chris Davidson, Ben Briggs Website: www.DjCUTMAN.com userid: 32956 Game name: MIG29 Soviet Fighter Remix name: Powerglove (It's so bad) Songs arranged: Opening Theme Publisher: Codemasters, Camerica (NES) The inspiration for this remix came from a long discussion with fellow VGM fans on Facebook. A friend commented that the opening riff from MIG 29: Soviet Fighter was awesome, and after hearing a clip online, I couldn't get it out of my head. I ripped the opening song from the NSF file and made a quick beat from it. I was satisfied for the time being, until Ben Briggs showed me a demo he was working on. It has a french electro-house feel and bassline that totally hooked me, and I asked if he wanted to collaborate on MIG29. After a weekend of sending stems back and forth and tireless tweaks to the mix, we ended up with this track; A rowdy, noisy, gritty electro-house track worthy of shooting down enemy fighters. In attempt to troll, I pulled a sample from the film The Wizard in to the track, and just like that, Powerglove (It's So Bad) was born. I've also offered up the stems for remixing: http://gamechops.com/powerglove-remix-stems http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e0f7kGm_4SM
  17. super happy birthday to you, great way to start the weekend! I hope it is fun and cool

  20. Features *THE* live OcRemix band! You know and love us from the past few years of convention appearances, and now you can see us rock out for an entire set, featuring a ton of new songs, and some way cool surprises! "OverClocked University? Is that a real thing?"
  21. What I like to is make a track for Dwelling of Duels. The one month deadline is awesome for getting me to actually finish in a timely manner. After I get feedback from the fine folks at the Shizz, I evaluate their comments and see how much needs to be further polished. I think 5 days of not even thinking about it is a good timeframe.
