ReMixer Name: Jonah-B Real Name: Jonah Backfish Website: http://jonahsmusic.leadhoster.com Forum User ID: 38805 Name of Game: Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Name of original song: Title Theme Name of my mix: Dark Shores of Hyrule Comments: This marks my first video game remix! I don't know what exactly made me choose this particular piece. I think it was the combination of beauty and simplicity in the original. Its such a relaxing song, which is right up my alley. Nothing like sitting in a dimly lit room and recording a nice relaxing song. My version doesn't deviate a whole lot from the structure of the original. Its still a short and simple song. The main change is in the choice of instruments. Inspired by Steve Pordon's Mystic Forest mix (also on OcRemix), I decided to go with a soft acoustic guitar playing the chord progression and an opposing distorted electric guitar for the lead. I'm pleased with the way it turned out. The primary choice of software for this piece (and most of my other compositions as well) was Sony Acid Pro for live recording and Reason with Rewire for just about everything else. The guitars were recorded with a Pod X3. I hope everyone enjoys it!!
  2. Sup guys! Here is a mix I've made of Flying Battery Zone from Sonic & Knuckles, I'm calling it Speed Run. It is short like TimeShock but still fun. 2:11 is way more than enough time to get through each zone of flying battery if you know your stuff. Whether you YES or NO this, plz put it on repeat and RAGE through the level just for me. I jacked a bunch of sfx from the rom to spruce up the mix and add nostalgia. The actual rearrangement is not nearly as hardcore as some, but I've been wanting someone to do a flying battery remix that keeps a lot of the elements of the original song for so long so I just did it myself. I'm pleased with the result. I wanted it angry and mechanical with a thick FM bassline which reminds me of the genny bassline, but I also wanted the spirit of Sonic's speed to come through in a way that makes you feel like you can break through the darkness in your own life. Essentially what I'm saying is I wanted to make a mix that people would listen to and become enlightened on the spot. Totally kidding, hope you like it. the sub stuff: Siamey Heath Morris heathgmorris@gmail.com www.heathmorrismusic.com 971 Thanks everyone, Heath

Contact info: ReMixer: DarkSim Website (tindeck account): http://www.tindeck.com/users/DarkSim User account: http://ocremix.org/forums/member.php?u=33879 Submission info: Game ReMixed: Mario Golf (Game Boy Color) Original song arranged: Putts' Theme - Composer: Motoi Sakuraba Comments: Ah, Mario Golf. Only Nintendo could try and fuse this sedentary sport with an RPG, complete with a world map, levelling up, and a host of secrets and strange characters. I remember one of them holding my wood in his hands and telling me "Golf's fire is in your eyes!" after I found a secret club-maker's hut in the forest. Bizarre stuff, but nonetheless a fantastic game. The soundtrack was surprisingly rich too, and well worth a listen. This catchy number kept bouncing around my brain every now and again, years after I last played it, so I felt I had to do it justice by remixing it. I think the catchiness of the bassline and melody lend themselves well to this upbeat dancey style, but it's also ripe for a blues remix and pretty fun to jam to. A word on the title - I'd originally gone for "Clubhouse Electro", but was toying with changing it to "Fore on the Floor" until Emunator pushed me over the edge. Definitely the right decision. Thanks go to phantasia, for once again providing excellent, constructive feedback, and my brother for helping me figure out the source material. Until next time, DarkSim

  5. Hey judges, PrototypeRaptor here with something... completely different. Dedede's theme was one of those things that I listened to on my old game boy (the original!) in the sound test, on loop, for at least an hour at a time as a kid. (yeah, yeah, I know...) It definitely is some of the most epic boss music I've ever heard, and I've wanted to do a crazy electronic remix of it for some time...alas, it was not to be. For, I decided that King Dedede deserved his own anthem, something to finally drive his pink nemesis away permanently... he needed a rap. Not just any rap. Something with lots of silly references, rhymes, a NSFW chorus, and a beat to make ya booty move. This is how King D gets down. Source: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=upewIgRjCRY Remix: http://www.fileserve.com/file/hVB5pjk Thanks, PrototypeRaptor (Jonathan Paulsen) lyrics: King D: hey (yo) this is king d (he's the king) with easy style number 1 (it's so easy) the boss of the castle comin' down (he's the boss) alright here we go: I'm DE DE DE an' they all are CAPITAL cruise control is caps lock; it's not accidental (f sharp?) and don't even start, baby you're so argumental (fuck you) I'll show you my force; with my hammer it's centripetal Open up the doors, I'll let you right in (to the kitchen) the final boss lies somewhere within (oh I see) you think you can find him an' you think you can win? (probably not) I'm on the top of my game (like football?) an' you're a has-bin (YOUUU) you think that I'm a penguin yeah well I think that you're gay (fabulous!) you're pink after all and no straight lives that way (you like men) a ball of fluff that thinks that he's tough but, at the end of the day you just like it rough (come here! ahh uhh) so if you're pink, get the fuck out of town (x3) so if you're pink, get the fuck out of my town do I really have to spell it out for you? I guess so, let me break it down you King D (crunk'd): I don't take no shit, I get this mic and spit it my words they get it so much better than you ever shit it so when I get done come on and hit it if you got the courage to come and get sitted cause I'm the original and still the best so many dreams they find they conquest like the old world to the brave and new imperialism is gonna find you cause no where is safe from me my ships scatter; eyes in the seven seas I've so many enemies they find they got wrecked I'm Cortez and you da Aztecs so if you're pink get the fuck out of town (x3) so if you're pink get the fuck out of my town what do you have to say for yourself you pink motherfucker K-Pain: hey now you are having some hate now cause do you really think it's easy being colored? drinking from they special water fountains watching you drank them dream fountains I'd love for some apple bottom jeans I'd love for some equal opportunities I'd love for some singing abilities but that's why you hate me shawtee King D: hey now, your plight has really moved me I feel bad enough to break my bad guy continuity (hey, a triplet) so get yo friends (friends?) I'll bring my friends (you don't have any friends) we'll make amends (nobody loves you) and drink until she sins (unless she's not hot) K-Pain: hey, hey, really? that, that sounds awesome King D: ...not a chance so if you're pink get the fuck out of town (x3) so if you're pink get the fuck out of my town so if you're pink get the fuck out of town (x3) so if you're pink get the fuck out of my town (K-Pain: I hate you... De de de) yeah so now you know if you pink, or red, or whatever the fuck else you transformed into you best be getting out while the getting out is good you best be getting out of King D's neighborhood ...it's so easy

Remixer name:MixerProductions Real Name: Joe Ikey Email: TheLegendofRenegade@hotmail.co.uk Website: http://www.youtube.com/JMixerProductionz UserID: 41340 Submission Information Game: Street Fighter Alpha 3, Street Fighter II Song: The Road (Theme of Ryu), Ryu Stage Additional info about the game: Developer: Capcom Composer(s): Takayuki Iwai,Yuki Iwai, Isao Abe, Hideki Okugawa, Tetsuya Shibata System: Arcade Year: 1998 Link to the OST: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hds3be8hoh4&fmt=18, http://vgmdb.net/album/1691 My comments: I'm a big fan of the Street Fighter series and its music is no exception. The third game in the Alpha series took a turn in a new direction musically, ditching the SF2 themes and making brand new original music. Some were good, most were bland. Ryu's theme is one of the best and I did my best to do it justice and give it new life. I used a few traditional japanese percussions and even brought in hints of his SF2 theme aswell
  7. Dash Miguel Morales b1gmclrghuge@yahoo.com User ID#: 12108 Submission Info: Resident Evil 2 Secure Place Comments: The idea behind this remix was to make the listener really feel like not leaving the Safe Room. Safe Room's were...well, safe. For many of us, when we first played the game...we really didn't want to leave, at least I didn't anyways. Either way, the remix is meant to be chill and not "in-your-face." I hope you guys can enjoy it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LPVrizQOma4
  8. Contact Information Blackhole Erik McClure erik2003@gmail.com http://www.blackspherestudios.com 41173 Submission Information Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards 0² (Zero Two) - Jun Ishikawa I've heard several remixes of this famous boss battle song floating around on youtube, but one remix in particular caught my ear. It was called "Revenge of Zero Two" by fairuzonss, and it completely diverged from the original song, creating its own unique interpretation. Inspired by this, I tried to combine elements of both the remixes and the original song, along with several melodies of my own, into an eargasm of intertwined ideas. In creating this song, I developed a new sidechain technique to deal with the heavy drums involving several different mix channels, and used the FL Granulizer to create the sweep effects. A multi-band compressor on the master channel was configured to compress only the bass, and allowed me to keep bass levels fairly high without losing all of my headroom. From its inception, I think the project has taken me almost a month to complete, thanks to physics midterms and homework . Nevertheless, I am very proud of what I have created, and I'd like to extend special thanks to fairuzonss on youtube for giving me the inspiration I needed to make this track come to life.
  9. Remixer Name: King (Not previously established, if this is taken already let me know I will come up with something else but it seems safe at the moment) Real Name: Phil King Email: phil.king.83@gmail.com Website: n/a UserID: 41174 Name of Game Arranged: Dungeons & Dragons: Warriors of the Eternal Sun Name of Song Arranged: The credit music for the game, I've named it "A Fitting End" for my remix Game Info: D&D RPG Released on the Genesis in 1992. ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dungeons_%26_Dragons:_Warriors_of_the_Eternal_Sun ) Which composer of the 3 did this I don't know, but composers were: Paul Mudra, Frank Klepacki, Dwight Okahara ( http://project2612.org/details.php?id=571 ) Info source Original Soundtrack: Can be acquired from the link above in vgz format, but I have hosted it on Youtube already for convenience Comments: This game had some of the best "metal style" midi music I have heard in any game from that era. I was younger at the time but I imagine it had a heavy subtle hand in my preference for extreme metal song writing as I got older. As a tribute I have started to remix a lot of the tracks from the game by ear, and recreating it with a little flare with guitars/bass/drums relatively closely. I made it by using a program called Audio Overload to play back the .vgz ripped files found on the site linked above. Then I output it as a wav file, and imported it to cubase. From there I dissected the parts by ear and recreated them using a guitar and bass with left/right/lead channels. This song is actually played in drop A tuning. Yes drop A... Tune a 6 string to B Standard and then drop B a step to A E A D Gb B. Strings are very thick for tone as this is not a 7 string arrangement, .13's with the lows around .53 or so. All recording was done digitally through a POD 2.0 straight into a lambda external sound card. I have multiple remixes for this game, around 7, but this is the cleanest at the moment and the first submission. The others can be heard in there current state from my user channel on Youtube, username KingOfKings8325

Link to the original soundtrack: Your own comments about the mix: As a kid playing this game, whenever I entered the candy world I was always filled with excitement and happiness. I wanted to share some of that in this mix. The title comes from Donald Duck, who always sounds like he is saying "Alakazab" when he uses magic.
  11. Nutritious Justin Medford NutritiousMultimedia@gmail.com 16520 Return All Robots Training Montage This was created as part of Zircon's remix contest for the upcoming Return All Robots release. It's a Pendulum-inspire take on Training Montage. I've been on a bit of a Pendulum kick lately (I think it's a phase many mixers go through), so this is my attempt at injecting a bit of it into RAR.
  12. Previous judgement: http://ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?t=29185 Title: Heroes Remixer: ziwtra Game: Final Fantasy Legend 2 (Saga 2 in japan) [1] Original song: The Legacy Composer: Nobuo Uematsu / Kenji Ito FFL2 is one of the gems of the gameboy and had one of the best soundtracks on the system. In terms of personal videogame music nostalgia, this game was one of the earliest I played as a kid. The recent remake of FFL2 for the DS made me curious as to how the soundtrack had fared. I was disappointed, but not surprised, to find that most of the tracks were updated without much creativity whatsoever. There was only one thing to do of course -- start remixing the soundtrack myself : ) It should be no surprise to OCR listeners by now that the artists on OCR are constantly influencing, challenging and learning from each other. In particular, I'd like to give a shoutout to two classic tracks that influenced this mix: the peerless big beat of tefnek & zircon's Waste Water Wipeout [2] and the lo-fi infectious groove in Fragments of Gold [3] by beej. This mix takes the original and gives it the lo-fi symphony treatment with some attitude. yh
  13. Really classy stuff, can't add much beyond my vote, but this is really breezy and pleasant.
  14. A++++ Finish it up man, I am way excited for this- I hope you got your motivational groove back.
  15. 536 reviews so far! "tee hee" only 64 reviews to go and it's done, just a warning though, I am totally serious that it is NSFW, and unless you are interested in my pale jooj-junkz, you'll probably want to review for the Deia picture. I will be linking them as URLs to protect people and their jobs in the event the milestone is reached. Gonna be close!
  16. Arrangement is pretty cool expansion of the source, though a lot of the sequencing is a bit stiff. Some of the samples are a little weak as well, and some additional velocities would be nice with the percussion. The kick is good but is pushed really hard, and the claps are a little far back. Some additional percussive textures would be nice as well. Guitar performance is clean and nuanced, and the strong point of the mix. This is a good start, but needs some TLC to step it up a bit. No, please resubmit
  17. I think the mixing is a little off on this one, i think lowering the volume of your devoted fan, and bringing up the drums, bass, and leads would be a good start. The arrangement doesn't stray a lot from the source besides the genre conversion, which isn't that abrupt of a shift, and some solos. Beyond that, the remix left me wanting more, but just not getting enough to be satisfied. The solos are good, but the rest is too conservative, and it ends before any noticeable expansion can happen. I'd take another pass and lengthen things up a bit. Maybe something of this length is fine for Deia, but I need more. No, please resubmit
  18. Definitely hearing the SyX influence in this one, though the drum sounds wasn't really meshing for me, the snare sounded a little dead, and the the kick wasn't present enough. The string sample also seemed to have some issues. I think it'd be usable if you trimmed some of the high end from it. Also, arrangement-wise, there wasn't enough energy for a lot of it. There were sections with a lot of runs and a lot of notes, but they didn't feel intense at all. It seemed also that there was a decent amount of small-scale cut and paste going on, which made the song feel more repetitive than it really needed to. This was mostly in the first half- as things picked up after the solo section. Production sounds like there isn't enough separation, and that the sounds are crammed mostly into the mid ranges, with not enough distinct highs or lows. Nice guitar playing, especially those really clean sweeps, really dug that. I think the main issue here is a first half that drags a little, and overall production issues. It's a very strong start, but needs some additional polish. No, please resubmit
  19. The harmonic color of this one is all over the place - the guitar is saying one thing, and the strings are often saying another. It's pretty much only in the passing tones, and it's interesting as an exercise, but it is confusing the message and statement of the song itself. Some parts the strings sound great and really contribute, and other parts, they sound like they are playing a different song. Production was decent, though the leads could have been pushed forward a touch. It's not bad by any means, but I think another look at the passing tones of some of the strings would do the track good. No, please resubmit
  20. Guitar seems too far forward overall, but the rest is very very nice. Sequencing is solid, and the arrangement is very good. Creative, classy, elegant, and mature. Yes, though a revision with the guitar back just a touch would be appreciated
  21. There is a bit of interpretation, excellent production and near-flawless playing, but the fact that it is a super medley breaks my heart, because the transitions aren't strong enough for it to be considered for OCR outside of a DJP-induced miracle. No ;_;
  22. Tough call for me. The sound scape is pretty lush though in some spots lo-fi, and generally full, but it's so ambient, it's hard to really get a feel for it without a ton of listens. Of course, that means I just listened to it a ton. The first half of the mix started to drag, but the second half really made up lost time. I think overall a little trimming would have improved it, and additional interpretation on the frontside. I think adjusting some of the samples slightly to not bleed as much, adding interpretation to the first half, and trimming it down slightly would tip this over for me. Right now it's good, but not completely there for me. No, please resubmit
