  1. I couldn't find any topic on this, so I decided to make one of my own. Not too hard of a subject, but maybe a few more questions could make it more interesting: 1.) What is your favorite game series? 2.) What is the game series you are best at? 3.) What game from your favorite game series is your favorite? 4.) What games in your favorite series do you OWN (Rentals and Past Ownership don't count, though you can include Past Ownership if you note those). 5.) WHY is your favorite game series your favorite, and why would you suggest others to look into it? I will, of course, start: 1.) What is your favorite game series? === Harvest Moon Series 2.) What is the game series you are best at? === Final Fantasy and 'Tales of' 3.) What game from your favorite game series is your favorite? === Harvest Moon 64 4.) What games in your favorite series do you OWN (Rentals and Past Ownership don't count, though you can include Past Ownership if you note those). === Harvest Moon GBC x2 (GBC) Harvest Moon GBC2 x2 (GBC) Harvest Moon GBC3 x2 (GBC) Harvest Moon Friends of Mineral Town x2 (GBA) Harvest Moon DS (GBDS) Harvest Moon Rune Factory (GBDS) Harvest Moon 64 (N64) Harvest Moon A Wonderful Life (NGC) Harvest Moon Magical Melody (NGC) Harvest Moon Back to Nature (PSX) === 5.) WHY is your favorite game series your favorite, and why would you suggest others to look into it? ===Best I could say about this is that it is probably the game series that got to continue playing video games... I saw a friend playing Harvest Moon (SNES) a LONG time ago, and from then on, I wanted to play it myself (he wouldn't let me play, for good reason), so when I saw HM64, I, without a thought, grabbed it (It was 40 dollars, this was a big deal to me... To put this in perspective, I only had 5 dollars in allowance each week, and only got more than that once a year at Christmas... That is what I decided to buy with my extra money that year). ===Now, at this point, I am responible for having found out most of the new information Harvest Moon 64 fans hadn't known until I came along to hack the game. So, I have much to thank to the series, and fans of HM64 have much to thank for me. ===I don't know what to say to convince anyone to look into the HM series, mainly because it needs an aquired taste... If someone were refered to this series, and picked up the wrong game (There's some incredibly bad games in the series), they'd have a very bad idea of the series, and that's even BEFORE that aquired taste comes into play. If you want to look into the series because of this, please buy Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town (there is also a version for girls, where you are a female farmer who tries to woo male villagers, instead of the other way around, called 'Harvest Moon: More Friends of Mineral Town'... However, the Harvest Moon series is notorious for making female versions of their game more unneccesarily limited than male versions (Example: In Harvest Moon GBC3, if you chose of be a girl, once you get married, your game ends, but if you chose to be a boy, you are given better tools and get to continue your game even AFTER marriage)), mainly because it is a very good game, but isn't horribly expensive (Harvest Moon [sNES] is a bargain on eBay if you can find it below 100.00 USD and Harvest Moon 64 [N64] isn't as expensive, but still up there).
  2. Same here. I just got an SNES a couple weeks ago, and with it some great games (All-Stars + SMW, Gradius III, Super Mario RPG [Alone, combined with shipping, was $50], and 'A Link to the Past')... I'm playing the hell out of the SMBI game, though, and the only problems I have now is in fluently breezing through 8-3 and getting past the final Hammer Kappa and Bowser. But hey, worlds 8-1 and 8-2 FTW! Oh, and I find the Advance versions to suck... BAD (I have every version). Mainly, it just seemed to mess with the simplicity of the original (for lack of a better word) trilogy of SMB games, which was pretty much the main reason I like the original SMB games, even SMB3, which changed a LOT of what the SMB1 and the REAL SMB2 had. I didn't need gimmicks, nor didn't I need anything especially out of the ordinary to pop up unexpectedly, all I needed were decent controls and surpassable challenge [after practice]... Maybe even tweaking the level design a bit to fix notable problems, or to make it slightly more or less challenging (Not because of poor design, but due to basic challenge).
  3. Aye, now I see exactly what you meant with the lag... Very noticable. But I'm glad that, besides the altered attack names, much remains the same.
  4. LIES!!! I wasn't able to pick up my copy of FFT today, but Odin Sphere is what some may call 't3h aw3somez1'... Your words are sheer madness!
  5. I hate the Judges, namely because they fit the criteria of being 'human'... But I suppose if the truth be told, when I go on my rampage to destroy humanity, if anyone says 'I'm a judge for OCRemix!' as I was about to kill them, I would make sure to demolish them completely, so they don't suffer like the rest... Yeah, I suppose I have a soft spot, not that it'll matter for long... And by that, I mean that nobody will care, 'cause they won't be alive to care... You know, 'cause I killed 'em. n_n
  6. I haven't really heard Radiohead... Or rather, I don't remember hearing any song I remember to be attributed to Radiohead, and don't care to find out what a *nearly* free album would be like. So spoke the guy who actively enjoys listening to Russian Folk music and Chants, phear meh!
  7. On that note, it hasn't really influnced me much, besides giving me a place in which to find a decent collection of songs. Honestly, I can never say, in the least, that VG Music could ever replace other forms of music that I enjoy, not that it is bad, but it isn't so good that it in itself is enough to usurp all other types and genres. Often enough, though, in between the Red Army Choir and Nicolo Paganini, I'll hear an OCRemix, and think nothing of it, just as if it was another band or genre playing through my playlist... This, it seems, is the true wish of video game music fans: To have VG Music recognized not just as music, but as music of strong enough quality and power to be playable in the playlists you listen to usually. So mine isn't a single-minded uber-fandom, but a passive acceptance, not really even worth a thought, because they can be just as any other form of music is.
  8. I see... Well, I've always agreed with that idea, that the song attributed to a certain event in a game, be it an actual plot event or noteworthy portion of the gameplay, can and often will create similar emotions as when you first played through that area. Like in Metroid, when I was a kid, after playing the game for countless hours, and finally reaching the final section of the game (Tourian (sp?)), I remember getting latched onto by a Metroid, and feeling completely helpless... Both immediately in trying to escape the present danger, and later realizing that I just got killed by the first enemy in the stage, how could I possibly hope to beat the game? It gave me nightmares, where I am being painfully being sucked dry of my very life essence. Why would I care now though? Sure, it is frightening to a small child, but I'm a grown man now, who has seen things far more fearsome than deadly jellyfish, I've seen my share of Game Over screens... Heck, I can look at the Unholy Trinity of internet pictures without flinching... But when that theme for Tourian comes to ear, my mind will still reach at least a minor level of caution, even in the midst of more creepy or otherwise unsettling music. Much like in movies or television programs, music can be... no... IS an incredibly important part of setting the right emotional state for the viewer/player. But it doesn't JUST have to be a tool to help plot, as is easily known to most of us who frequent OCR. In the early days of video gaming, developers didn't have great graphics to rely on to distract from crappy gameplay, they had to work with poor music generators as well, so they HAD to rely on good gameplay, and while at low quality, they had to try hard with each track to make a quality song, to offset the quality in which it was being played. Many hear the music as mere blips and beeps, but what we hear is the effort of an artist to provide quality where quality is near impossible... and succeeding. At OCR and the few similar sites, we strive to show the public our own efforts to provide quality where others deem it impossible, and dare hope that we, too, may succeed in such an endeavor. ...You know I don't know why I'm ranting on this way... Maybe just an interesting subject. Maybe I'll add to this later or something, or elaborate at least... But what is off-topic posting to be besides free-floating thoughts and ideas?
  9. An incredible remix, really. In my incredibly tired mind, I find little substance to add to this topic, mainly, this was just an attempt to bring this review topic to the front page, where more people are likely to see it (Main OCR page and board page, both). An amazing mix, seriously, I doubt even with good rest that words would be enough to describe what the song on its own could possibly be... Do yourself a favor and download it, listen to it, then hope it will [bear/allow you to bear] [your child/it's child].
  10. 2:32 to 2:34:...again'd and... This is a beautifully sung and arranged remix, but as beautiful as it is, and how glad I am when this ends up playing on shuffle, this somehow distracts me for a moment. I guess in the sense that it literally means, it is a 'noticable flaw' and it distracts from the rest of the piece, but really, I've heard this probably 25+ times in the short(ish) time it has been out, and it is still a pleasure to hear it, which is something only accomplishable by only a handful of OCRemixes I've heard. Great mix, especially for something supposedly 'thrown together'. n_n
  11. Aye, sorry about that, I honestly didn't think as I was typing it, but tiredness isn't a good enough excuse... I didn't like the mix, and I won't, like a coward, edit the message to change the past (I am well aware it isn't truly changng the past, but take the idea for what I mean), but trust me when I say that I didn't think to mean 'crappy' so much as 'not quite as good'. But I'll stop clogging this topic with my annoying defenses, this is for reviews, not for exhibition of my inability to hold my tongue, so I'll try to end any future discussion about this with a simple rule, "INO should not be held accountable for any incompetant wording he may use, he means well, but sometimes he just can't help his inept nature and pseudointellectualist diction". Here, just to simplify it, take what I said about this mix before this post, and add the basic idea of it all to this sentence for the major idea for my opinion: Great Remixer, but a mix that was 'just' good. There, I doubt there are any misintended messages here, so I shall take my leave, and hopefully have made myself look like less of an ass-hat.
  12. Short Story: O_o... I think I need to lie down for a bit. Long Story: That... I am baffled. For close to five years of frequenting countless message boards, I have always been met with a very constant theme, which is that there will be some icon(s) which are seen by the regular posters as infallible in at least one respect, and any opposition, logically introduced or not and no matter how well the person tries to recover with agreement in other ideas, they will be flooded with insults and hate. So when you, the one who wrote the mix and who I'd expect in any other situation to jump on the insult bandwagon, not only DON'T insult me but AGREE, understandably, I am deeply confused. There may yet be hope for the internet... ...Yyyyeah... I guess that's a bit of a stretch, but you get the point. But in direct response to your post, I guess "Aye, no problem, just got annoyed with the rampant blind praise praise I see here, I mean, if someone has great songs, that's no problem, but don't just praise their crappy mixes just for the fact that everything else is good... Plus, your other songs = t3h ro><z()rz" will suffice.
  13. *cough* http://ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?p=279708#post279708 *cough* (Not a very well written comment, really just posted that because I liked the song in its original form and wanted to shed some light, if it wasn't already evident enough... Also, I put two transliterations, sorry about that... But this WAS posted before this song write-up was written, so w()()tz0rz 2 /\/\3!11eleventy-one) Don't get me wrong (trust me, I wouldn't lie, if Chthonic didn't have any good songs, I'd end this post sounding like a jerk and hurting his feelings, or simply not even post it), chth has some good songs, a few of which I have just listened to again to be sure I had something to fall back on so people don't think I'm just flaming (if you post a song that is sub-par, especially when compared to other mixes you have posted as of late, I will say so, rather than give blind praise to someone simply because they've got a bunch of other songs that happen to be great or blindly critisize them and leave without having given their other works just praise so the newcomer won't be misled), such as his entries from the Project Chaos and Rise of the Star projects, "It's my turn to dream", "Fleeting Ecstasy" and "Disconnected", all are very good, and often find their way into my playlists. As for the remix... Well, it was certainly catchy at points, but I can't say it is something I'd think to put in my regular music rotation. It just seems a bit lacking, sort of like the sceleton part of composition where you are simply bringing a fun idea you had into a form you can listen to continuously, but haven't refined. But strangely, it also gives a sort of feeling that this is about as much potential as the song might have, and certainly not as this portion had to say: "...If the tempo was a little less perfect and you added in some crowd ambience, it would almost sound like a live recording..." I could definitely notice the synthetic nature of the song from the start, and just now reading that it was made a few years back, I can now see why some things sounded as they did. No Grade. You may now prepare your floods of counter-statements and insults to my character, not that I desire it as such, but it is inevitable and I don't want to delete my post just because I have a differing opinion.
  14. Couldn't resist jumping on the bandwagon, hope it gets some awesome results: Date:Mon, 20 Aug 2007 09:43:29 -0700 (PDT) From:"Ocee Remiks" oceer33miks@yahoo.com <== Hope this isn't too direct Subject:Sorry about the YouTube stuff, man. To:final-._.-fantasy@hotmail.com I heard from a friend of mine about these awesome songs he found on YouTube, that were taken down because abunch of posers were giving you shit. Damn, I never even got to hear any of it, and it sucks 'cause the guy I was talking about never lets me down on stuff like that. Forget about those jerks, man, stand up to those losers, I mean look at them! They're just wasting time giving shit to people like you who are putting their own hard-made, inspired art on the intenet for the world to enjoy! Artists like us... Er.. Well, maybe just you, but artists all the same need to stand up to this kind of stuff, otherwise, what has this world come to?... I probably screwed up my point, but you get it, right? (Sorry for wasting your time with a long e-mail like this, but whenever shit like this happens, I can't help but get mad!) Final Fantasy rocks! ~ Mikael Oceer The signature name is there in hopes of dissolving doubt if he is somehow smart enough to see the relation between "Ocee Remiks" and "OCRemix" If it doesn't work, then oh well.
  15. I have an idea: send him an e-mail with a link to this topic... An entire topic full of people insulting the plagiarist he really is, making fun of his (at best) tenuous grasp of proper word formation, and, of course, his continual lies to people pretending to be fans. I've a strong hatred towards idiots and the truly incompetent, so this topic, in its entirety, is as close to joy as my jaded soul will ever hope to get. Let the degradation of the distained fool continue!
  16. Stupidity knows no age, if that weren't the case, I dare say I might actually have moments of happiness... But of course, it is, so unfortunately, I don't. ; If you'll excuse me, I need to find a way to pack a high-speed chainsaw so as to not activate sensors... The plane leaves in 3 hours.
  17. My Names Alex Ive been playing The Final Fantasy Series for 10 years and in them 10 years ive loved the music.. it fits with the game so well.. so i edited the "Your Not Alone" Theme and changed it.. i am making approx 50 new themes on youtube. if anyone needs a fave theme done contact me Imbecile. Is his life so devoid of purpose that he'd spend his waking hours bragging about non-existant talents to a bunch of strangers, using works of other people, who had the talent and spent the time to make, calling them his own? I hate people like him. Not to mention the horrible grammar in this description. My name is Alex, and I've been playing the Final Fantasy series for about 10 years, and in this time, I've never gotten tired of the music of any of its titles, for, amongst other reasons, they all fit their situations and events in their games so well... So, understandably, when I heard the song 'You're Not Alone' from Final Fantasy IX, I finally decided to try my hand at remixing, starting with this song. Now, I have made or am in the process of making close to 50 new remixes for entry into YouTube. If you, or anyone you might know, would like to have another theme remixed, please don't refrain from contacting me by one of the means listed on this page. I'll be seeing his description changing about 2 days from now, with no credit to me... I think I'll look into having a vacation at Australia this year... With a chainsaw. n_n Effing plagiarist.
  18. You'd be surprised what a truly imaginative and inspired mind can remix, and well. I could really see it going into an even more intricate orchestral piece, or maybe a person could do something like the 'Finally Home' mix, which took what was originally an eerie and foreboding song and made it into a happy, sort of new kind of song... Though, I suppose all you really CAN do with a song like this is oppose the style to make it a true remix. But if someone could improve upon this alread great song, I'd be all for it!
  19. First off, simply amazing... Easily takes to the top 20 best songs of my list, for sure, and my work, if only for 6 minutes, becomes an effortless burden as that choir comes to ear. But... What is 'very soon'? To some, 'very soon' means 'in a mere few days', to others who become skeptical of that phrase, think 'TBA 2063'... Since I don't understand your grasp of this relative scope of 'time', I ask you, what is 'very soon'? Of course, the finest wine takes longest in wait to fully enjoy, and I can very well wait for any future movement of this collection, but curiosity killed CATS (Your sodomy of common diction shall find its way back to you ten-fold, evil translators of the final circle!!!), and even though that has no bearing on this instance, I am curious all the same.
  20. ...I'm conflicted... I hate rap, But I love this. So... Does that mean that all I know and hate about rap is wrong? Or maybe this supercedes rap, and is, in fact, a genre all its own? The only thing I can think to call this strange new brand of music, Which undeniably has some features of rap, but is likeable by me: Rapé. Ah, this is rapé to my ears!... Strange, I have a lingering feeling that this new genre name is wrong in some way... Either way, I can't wait to be "Rapé'd" by this gang some time soon! (Meh, I'll probably figure it out later) === Earthbound; Da Black Market (By: ...Four people, I'm too lazy to type them down, but they rock.) 95% ~~~ A (As if you care)
  21. Heh, simply in reading that, I smiled. Can't wait! n_n
  22. I remember having a question about something when viewing the first draft, and think it may be worth asking: Then is it okay to, as I have the habit of doing, combine multi-part remixes... Examples: Final Fantasy VII ~ Philharmonic Suite, Part 1 and Philharmonic Suite, Finale (By: waxingeloquent) Final Fantasy VI ~ Dancing Madly, Part 1 and Dancing Madly, Part 2 (By: Jeremy Robson) ...Into a single file, for the sake of continuity and convenience in a shuffled playlist (Personal MP3 playlist, for personal hearing only, no redistribution or profits made)? I just thought some of the wording may not allow for such alteration, and would like confirmation on this issue. Thank you for your time, and great work on finally getting a black-and-white legal content policy done... It seemed like an accident waiting to happen, what with the alteration and reimagining and free distribution of copyrighted music.
  23. As stupid as this may sound, and as much as I know that the other songs will be awesome beyond the trifling descriptions of any tongue, I am looking forward to the 'Beat the Angel' mix most of all... Awesome song, and I'm curious of just how the song will be done. With each passing day, I fall further to the edge of my seat... I await thy 1337ness.
  24. My, this isn't too bad of a mix, if you ask me... It starts at a good speed, and continues at a pace that keeps the listeners' attention, which I've found to be a feature lacking on some of the other remixes I've heard that otherwise would have been at the top of my list. The implementation of the instruments you chose was well done, nothing taking too much notice, nothing being too subtle to bother with. This song is a good example of how someone can take even the most recognizable theme and make it their own... An excellent mix by any standard, great work! ===== 'Slavic Roots' Tetris (NES), By: DJPretzel: 93% ~~~ A Great (90-93% Range) ===== (But on a side note, and one I suppose goes for some other games who use already existing music in their titles... I find it almost funny that a song, originally with a choral section used [Коробе́йники/Korobeiniki] in a Russian song, had to be made usable through midi-grade sound [Therefore, lost all vocals], which then became available in the version best known to Americans [Music A, I believe], then unwittingly 'remixed' into altogether different and almost completely original arrangements that conform better to that societies current musical desires. What once was a song about peddlers is now a catchy song without vocal meaning [Yes, a bit more to both sides of the coin, but that is the basic idea of what the results are]! I'm just glad they chose more classical pieces to base their BGM on, as Tchaikovsky and the Red Army Choir [Yes, I am aware that Tchaikovsky didn't write this particular song and that the Red Army Choir was only one of many who performed this song] liek totly roks mi soks1)
  25. Sorry I didn't make my first post here, but I suppose a short introduction is in order: ...Ur, nope... I've got nothing. I guess basic info will have to do: Age, as of the current-present timing in which is of the time which is now: 20 Meaning of Name: I asked a friend who knows Japanese if they could create a transliteration of the screen name I often used online, which is SomeCrazyGuy, and this was the best she could give me... I'm basing this on my faith that she both knew Japanese well enough to do this and that was wasn't being a jerk, and didn't tell me a collection of swear words or some other nonsense. Why I am so long-winded: 1.) I am a perfectionist 2.) I am not perfect 3.) I am too proud to let #2 get in the way of #1, which means that I often have to type unneccesarily long messages to feel that it is ready for public eyes, which, by then, are too impatient, or as they like to call it, 'have lives'. ...: You will notice that I put a... Well, I'll just say 'quite a few' elipsis in the internet novels I call 'posts', which tends to become an endearing character trait, or as other people tend to call it, 'enraging and unneccesary annoyance'. So, all I have to say to you is... Get used to it. Musical Genious, I Am Not: Title says it all, m i rite/1 Why are you posting at 2 in the morning?: I work overnight, so I sleep during the day and post at night, so no, I'm not just a loser who stays up too long, frequenting message boards... Well, not JUST that, at least. Yeah, that's about it, I hope we have many years of you tolerating my grating, annoying presence! Good day/night!
