  1. DOUBLE POST! Looks like it's confirmed that Fire Emblem for the Wii will be controlled via classic controller/wiimote on its side exclusively. Oh well, I'll be happy with it just because I want more Fire Emblem. Too bad no US release date yet.
  2. And a better selection of games as well, IMO. Seems like there's only a couple really good games for PS3 right now. Btw, Sonic and the Secret Rings shipped yesterday, anybody get a chance to pick it up yet? Seems like it got pretty average reviews, but way better than the PS3/360 Sonic.
  3. lol. Funny thing is, a lot of people I know who want to get a Wii are waiting till Metroid Prime 3 or highly anticipated games come out. Because of how many people I'd guess are out there with that perspective, I'd guess the Wii's selling momentum won't be stopped for a while.
  4. Damn, broken link . I'm pretty intrigued because of the source material, so I'd definitely like to give it a listen.
  5. So, had some free time this weekend and dl'd 4 VC games. Super Mario World, Super Mario 64, Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, and Kid Icarus. For the first time, I'll finally get to play through Mario 64, LttP, and Kid Icarus. Mario 64 is awesome so far (more so than I expected), haven't gotten into LttP enough to say anything about it, and Kid Icarus is...well, harder than I remember it being. Mario World is such a great, nostalgic experience for me so I enjoy most having that game on my Wii. Still waiting for Super Metroid...and hoping they'll give Metroid II the Zero Mission treatment and distribute it via the VC.
  6. lol, I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or if you're legitimately expressing your astonishment that it resyscs the same way (I was hoping to avoid the former by stating "You probably already know this, but just in case..." ) EDIT: Kitsuta, so it's working now (I'm assuming from your edit)? Awesome!
  7. The 4 blue leds blink you mean? That means it probably needs to be resync'd, though I think other people who experienced a similar problem said it went away after turning the console and leaving it for a few hrs. You probably already know, but just in case, to resync, take off the battery cover on the wiimote, hit the red button, then hit the red button on the Wii console next to the sd card slot in the front. Also, to get better range, you can go into the wii settings and change the sensitivity all the way up (5 is the max) and that'll help a bit. Also, congrats on the Wii!
  8. I'd be for that, even if it were just trailers. On a semi-related note, I'm still looking forward to having a channel to use my Wii as a DS download station or something to that effect, so I can try some DS demos from home. I'm pretty excited for what's to come next, now that we know they can just randomly suprise us with new channels from time to time.
  9. The same reason they cast a big name actor for any movie: star power. In film theory, the actor (especially so with big stars) carries along with him/her everything else they have been involved in because the audience probably saw that last blockbuster they were in and adds an extra dimension to it. It's how Beat Takeshi's role in Brother could be so much harder-hitting, or to know what you can come to expect in a Jet Li movie beyond what's inherent from the genre. Sometimes the filmmaker will feel it better to go with a fresh face and not have to deal with all the extra "baggage" the actor is carrying with him/her, like in Superman Returns (though he was partially cast because of his resemblance to Christopher Reeve). Anyway, for the MGS movie I agree with orual and think that the movie would be better with a no-name actor cuz it'll be easier to identify him just as Snake. Meh, anyway, we'll see how it goes .
  10. Exactly what I've been saying! We need to make that a question for Everybody Votes..."Would you prefer it if all downloaded Virtual Console games were organized within a single channel on the main menu?" or something like that. When I get home today, I think I'll submit that suggestion...maybe this new Everybody Votes channel can become useful in a constructive way to give Nintendo feedback for what we want in the Wii. EDIT: If they would just make a VC channel and either allowed for dl'd games/game saves to be accessed on an SD card/external harddrive, then I'd be a lot happier. Once I find a store around here that sells points card (or my new bank card arrives next wk, since my old one's security card rubbed off), I'm pretty much gonna use up the rest of the internal memory with downloaded games so I'd really like to actually use the SD card I have in my Wii for something. btw, got Wii Play yesterday. It's fun, but like others have said the games are pretty much just technical demos. If they had a few more options for each of the games and flushed them out a bit, it'd be great. Meh, still worth $10 IMO.
  11. Lol, well if Segal were young again and still did aikido he wouldn't have been terrible. You know how much ass he used to kick if you've seen his older stuff (also evidenced by being, what, 8th dan?). Now that he got fat and switched to guns instead of martial arts, though, he sucks . Oh, and I never understood the whole idolizing Chuck Norris thing, so... Anyway, my thoughts on the movie are like the ones before Doom came out: it *could* be good but I'm not gonna hold my breath. Even after I knew Doom was gonna be bad, I'm glad me and a bunch of friends decided to go see it -- I haven't laughed that hard in a theater since Alien vs Predator. If it looks ok, I'll probably see it...if it looks bad, I'll probably drink with some friends and then go see it with them .
  12. Yeah, it's nice that it's possible. I'd like to see something like an online multiplayer mode for, say, Mario Kart 64. It's possible for them to add, but that's not to say they would or that I'm expecting it. If they were to add extra features such as that, I think it'd make the VC games just that much more appealing. Well, nice to dream lol.
  13. Yeah, like they had said on IGN, it's more fun than Nintendo just saying "Super Paper Mario comes out April 9." Looking forward to this game.
  14. No, I believe you lol. It's not that I particularly care that the game is delayed or whatnot, but I was mainly confused that what you had said was a total contradiction of what was loading for me. Well, anyway, got that cleared up . Sorry, my comp is dumb sometimes lol. Right, anyway...I've got some big expectations for Prime 3. Prime 2 was certainly good, but the original Prime was better IMO. I really hope Prime 3 will rival Prime, but as long as it's better than Prime 2 I'm good. In respect to online play, the more I think about it the more my feelings are mixed. It's a valid point that people say Metroid is traditionally single-player experience, and a great one at that. At the same time, I had a lot of fun with Hunters online. It didn't maintain that same Metroid feel if you ask me, but I still really liked it. I guess my current thought on Prime 3 is if it does have online multiplayer I'll probably play it, but if it doesn't I probably won't lament it too much. Oh, and how crappy Prime 2's split-screen multiplayer was lol.
  15. I'm not seeing that in the page you linked -- are you sure you're getting this from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mario_Party_8? I read the entire article and what you're quoting isn't there. What I am seeing, however, is: Check the second to last sentence in the first paragraph, as that is what it says in the article.
  16. According to the article you just linked it is still, in the US at least. You may want to read your own sources, for future reference (either that, or you were referring to a release outside of the US).
  17. Yeah, if you connect the Wii to your tv via component cables, even if your tv doesn't support progressive scan, it will still look sharper. I personally got the 1st party cables as at the time they were cheaper, but I wouldn't imagine there to be a huge difference between those and 3rd party cables. So, supposedly Mario Party 8 comes out in in just less than a month (March 5 US release date, according to IGN at least). I'm definitely thinking about purchasing it, anyone else?
  18. I think it's just a setting that doesn't require the component cables. I dunno though, cuz my Wii is connected via components and I'm not gonna reconnect the old ones just to test that . Just go into the settings and change it to widescreen. If you have the regular cables connected and it lets you, then you have your answer (and if it doesn't let you, you have your answer that way too ).
  19. Hell yeah, it's gonna be good.
  20. I dunno if I'd call 69/100 trashing it, but it's certainly not a great score (then again, it was a similar score for Killer7 that kept me from getting it till last yr ). I'm still interested in trying it, though the tacked-on touch control like getting the boost at the beginning of the race seems kinda dumb from what I saw. Btw, how is the track editor? EDIT: How is Lunar Knights looking to you guys? I didn't play Boktai, but it looks like a pretty fun game.
  21. I've never had trouble playing mkvs, even on laptops with slightly lower specs that yours, so it seems odd to me that it would be hardware-related. Has the file ever worked? If not, have you considered that you may simply have a corrupt file? Alternatively it could still be a codec-related problem. A friend of mine was telling me about a new codec pack that recently came out, which is said to be better than the K-lite or Nimo codec packs...I want to say it was called Community Codec Pack or something along those lines. It couldn't hurt to give it a shot. Also comes with Media Player Classic, with which I've not had trouble opening pretty much any media file. Good luck.
  22. Definitely well-arranged; great job! I've been enjoying this remix as a part of my work playlist (nice and calm). While I wish there were more Fire Emblem remixes, this is a great first one for OCR.
  23. Yeah, actually. Two weekends ago, I saw classic controllers in-store and this weekend I saw quite a stock of all controllers at a Fred Meyer (and 3 systems still in stock...it all apparently came in that morning, the manager was suprised any was still in-stock by that afternoon). Also, at Target I saw several classic controllers and nunchuks still available that same afternoon (once again, the stock came in that morning, but all systems and remotes were sold by 3, which is the time I came in). Looks like supply is beginning to finally catch up to demand. I never got to play that game, but I've heard only good things.
