  1. It is not. I'm starting to think either the game she game from is more obscure than I thought, or I just screwed up drawing her. XD
  2. I might not have drawn her right either... but I messaged you who it was on DeviantArt. XD
  3. #3 is indeed Kara. #1 was already guessed. Lyle from Phantasy Star 3.
  4. She's adorable!
  5. I never make new years resolutions - it usually ends on a disappointing note. So I don't think I made any at all last year. Buuut.. it can't hurt to make one this year. Just one though, cuz I'm an overachiever like that. I'd like to do something 'professional' involving art. And by 'professional' I mean lucrative. I'd love to get a design printed at Threadless, so that's something I believe I'll work towards.
  6. That's pretty awesome! Congrats to The Wingless.
  7. Awesome! I tried playing it before, but I was being cheap with the save states and trying to play through ever generation scenario at the same time. I ended up screwing up my system and erasing my data and.. yeah. I never went back to it after that. But I totally should. It's a reeeally dated game but otherwise pretty unique. The music was pretty nice too. Except the battle themes... Anyhoozle, I doodled another to be guessed. This one should be easy.
  8. You know, it *does* look like Mia. In spite of... not being Mia. ^^ I might have done a bad job trying to depict that one. Couldn't find official art and just went with my memory of the sprite. Wow. You, sir, are my new hero. I wasn't sure anyone would get that one, but you totally did. XD
  9. No.1 isn't Sothe. But! The Pac Man ghost is supposed to be Blinky, and looks red on my screen. Clinky should totally be a new Pac Man ghost.
  10. Note: I'm putting this here in Community since this is game related, so I *think* this would be the right spot for this kind of thing. If not, apologies in advance. ; I thought it'd be fun to have a thread in which everyone can draw video game characters and other people guess what characters they are. They can be well known characters or characters from lesser known games. The style of art can be done in any medium any way. Digital, pencil, MSPaint, abstract. The point is to have fun, basically, not churn out masterpieces (so no using the "I can't draw" excuse! ). I'ma start it out with 3 characters.
  11. o.o All of that? Awesome! (And congrats on the weight loss virt!)
  12. I like! The flipped images will take getting used to, but it does look better.
  13. Hiouden: Mamono-tachi to no Chikai for SNES.
  14. I've been wanting some new music lately. An album or two at most. Rather than get something mainstream or overpriced, I was thinking of picking up something original done by peeps in the OCR community. So I was curious if anyone had any recommendations as to what to pick up. Whatever recommendations people have, I'd really prefer if the album had a demo of some kind (few seconds of each track, or just something to listen to so I have some idea what it is) and would also prefer if there was a downloadable version so I don't *have* to order a physical copy. Shameless self promotion of your own album is A-OK too.
  15. Apologies if Breath of Fire 1 avatars have already been posted for future consideration, but the thread is reeeeally long so admittedly I haven't scoured it to see what has and hasn't been uploaded. Breath of Fire SNES Second half of the BoF SNES avatars, since this only allows 4 pictures per post. LT: We had Breathe of Fire 2, not 1. These were too dark, so I brightened them. Good to go.
  16. Ah! I actually wasn't aware of a preview. Shows how observant I am... but yeah, this sounds great so far!
  17. Boomerang Flash holds a special place in my heart. When I was younger, it was totally one of my burp songs. It better be awesome. *shakes fist* (But seriously, looking forward to this, even if I'm not that familiar with the WA 1 OST!)
  18. Ah, okay. I like all their designs. So props to original creators and whatnot. XD And thanks Halycon, BGC, and Kyle. I attempted her darker to fit in better with a dark theme and that probably would have been better accomplished if I had stayed away from the browns. Ah well. Not as detailed as it should be since I lost mah mojo towards the end. Blur tool abuse ftl.
  19. Oops. XD Okay, edited my post to indicate the proper tan!
  20. I hope no one minds me bumping this thread since it hasn't received any replies for a while... Just seemed silly to start a new thread when this was already here. Going through this thread was fun. I really liked all the pictures and the concept of OCR having a mascot and all that. Who designed each tan? Blackmyst designed number 4, right? What about the others then? Also did a quick one of number 4, myself.
  21. I recently got the PSP version of FFT. I am loving the translation, even if they do ham it up a bit with the dialogue. (If the dialogue in FF12 bothered you, I'm not sure you'd like the re-translation for FFT...) I am not loving that Olan is very stupid and gets himself killed so I can't proceed past that battle. I never had trouble there on the PS version. The slowdown doesn't bother me *too* much, since most strategy games I've played are a little slow in pace. But it is kinda hard to press through it right after playing Disgaea, which is faaast.
  22. Honestly Martial Law is one of those tracks from FF6 that didn't *really* stand out to me. Sure it sets the mood but it was kind of meh compared to some of the greats of the OST. So my initial reaction to seeing Nutritious had done something from FF6 was yay! ...then faded to meh when I saw just what it was he covered. But I gave it a listen and I have to say I'm glad I did. I love the tense atmosphere that the song sets right from the get go, and the mood it sets throughout the rest of the song. It has the softer moments, sure, but it's still not what I'd call a laid back song, however it doesn't sound like it's trying too hard, nor does it have too much going on. Yet it still manages to breath some life into what I felt was a ho hum original. Samples and sound are all good. Nothing sounds overtly fake to me and the two sources are blended together flawlessly. I'd suggest definitely checking this one out.
  23. *pose* 25 milestone here too. Hooray morning of free time! And geez OA, you're a reviewing beast. XD This isn't nearly as hard or tedious as I thought it might be either. Any excuse to sit and listen to music from this site is a good one. Writing my thoughts on it afterward isn't too tough either as long as I tell myself it doesn't have to be a novel.
  24. Wizardry ftw. Why does Wizardry not get more love than it gets? This is a very catchy tune, which is to be expected given the fact the original is catchy as well. I like that the title isn't misleading either - this song has a sort of medieval flair to it that makes it all the more enjoyable to me. The strings at the beginning leads into the song effectively, which doesn't deviate too much from the original. There isn't much variance from there, but it is kept pretty short so I can't really complain about that. Normally I'd say that the song should have been longer, but I think this is an instance where the shortness works. Even if you haven't heard of Wizardry or played it, you should check this one out. It's a good mix with a mood to it that I rarely hear in songs.
  25. Ever since I downloaded this song (years ago) it has remained in my BoF music folder because there's not enough Breath of Fire love out there and this song is amazing. What I like about this medley is that it doesn't feel like just a song. It feels like it's telling a story. It starts out sad in the beginning and gradually builds itself up into something more epic with the battle theme. The sound effects during said battle theme are a really nice touch and adds to the mood of the piece. Then we get the victory theme and more uplifting music that really adds to the resolution. In spite of all this shifting around of mood and song, it's done in a way that it flows seamlessly. The sound is good and the arrangement is just... clever. I do kind of feel like this would be more appreciated by fans of Breath of Fire, but that doesn't mean you should bypass it if you haven't played it. Definitely give it a listen!
