  1. Way back in the day when I first discovered this site this was one of the first songs I downloaded. Final Fantasy 4? The Main Theme? Vocals? Oooooh yeses... A lot of people have said they don't care for silent's voice/vocals. While it may be true he's not the best vocalist out there, I found his vocal tone to be pleasant. However I'm far less harsh on male vocals than female, so yeah, take it how you will. I found that the vocals and song itself had quite a bit of emotion to it, rather than feeling stale like some songs with vocals do. Things can be sang well, but it means nothing to me if there's nothing behind it, if that makes sense. At a length of 7 minutes, any song runs the risk of being boring or repetitive, but I think this is really easy to listen to. There's enough variation to it that it doesn't make me sigh and cut it off half-way through. Vocals are both soft and later more 'belting' and emotional, there's guitar played in an acoustic way and even a rawk solo. (The guitar playing, also, is pretty awesome in my opinion) Granted there's some stuff that could stand to be fine tuned in this remix... HOWEVER! Silent did do just that with Over and Under, which was posted by him somewhere in this thread. A few pages back I think? It addresses some of the issues with guitar and notably with the vocals, and is the version I've kept and the version that still remains in my Final Fantasy music folder. To this day, I still listen to this song every now and again. On it's own, it's a great piece of music. If you're a big fan of Final Fantasy 4 and the FF4 OST? It's a must have for your collection.
  2. I have. I don't recall every instance, but.. more than I'd care to admit to, I'm sure. XD It's funny people mention Mother 3's ending, because that was a tearjerker for me. I hadn't played the game, but simply read about it, and decided to watch the ending on YouTube (I knew I'd not be playing the actual game). Even without having played the game, that ending made me all kinds of sad.
  3. I've always found COTMM's Ruined World (Eternal Derelict) to be very soothing. Your mileage may vary. XD
  4. Romancing SaGa 3 is *amazing*. I've played that game so many times... Saga Frontier is also win. Unlimited SaGa... I got for 16$ at Gamestop. Couldn't finish it, went back and was able to get 8$ back, used that money to buy a crappy Castlevania soundtrack, raged at the 10 minutes of 'bmm tss' coming out of my speakers, and never trusted a GameStop Employee again. *ahem* But back on topic! Neither song, English or Japanese, from FF13 appeals to me. I don't find either *hideous* by any means, but I've heard better. I didn't care for the song in FF12 either, and that's like... my favorite FF game. So *the song* in the game isn't the make or break deal for me. I can't get so upset over something that'll be in the game for like 5 minutes and that's it. XD
  5. The Labyrinth theme from Lufia is a theme I never cared about. It was always about the battle themes and last dungeon theme for me when it came to Lufia. However you're making it sound awesome and catchy, even though I found the original to be kind obscure and meh. I'm not surprised at this point though, given the quality of your other works. XD Happy Candy Day to peepz!
  6. Ah WoW. I love WoW. It can be really frustrating and really rewarding. People say the end is when it begins, but in some ways the end ruins everything. :\ (Like PvP and resilience... blech) This obsession people have with gear and perfection. Like one mistake in a raid and people just get outright cruel about it. And really... every one of us has died to the first goomba in Mario Stage 1-1. Don't deny it! We all make stupid mistakes in video games. It's not worth pitching a mighty temper tantrum over. Doesn't help that Dethecus is full of trolls. There's so much to WoW, I find I actually like the simplicity of the leveling (compared to end game bosses and content), more so now that we get mounts at 20 instead of 40! I've only tried one other online game. I enjoyed it but lag made it unplayable, unfortunately. And online communities in general are full of jerkfaces. OCR is very nice in that it's like... a community. People could learn from this place. I used to be really involved in a role playing community (not video games, just like, text role playing and story writing) but had to get out of it. I loved RPing, but I absolutely hated how nasty people were to each other. They make MMO board elitists look like saints. Regardless of jerks in Aion or WoW or whatever your poison is, just make sure you game with friends. Goof off with them, don't read forums, and turn off trade when you don't need it = much more enjoyable experience.
  7. I never knew his Yor review existed until reading this thread. Wow. Best. Thing. Ever. Also, not sure why some make it Spoony vs. AVGN? I think they're different. They do similar things, but have their own way of doing it. I also think it's possible to enjoy both. I can see why people might not like Spoony though. Even though I think he's fantastic. XD
  8. I'm in the process of listening to this now! Will comment more as I progress, but so far it's sounding mighty fine. Site looks neat, and I liked the video on the front page of OCR. Props to whoever was responsible for that.
  9. I got my copy, I got mine! It's gorgeous and pretty and awesome and I nearly creamed myself when I got it. <3<3<3 I'm gonna take pictures sometime and show my friend and tease him about the fact I have a copy and he doesn't. >>;
  10. Happy Birthday!
  11. You're in the way, sir. Spoony is amazing. I love his stuff. I don't remember how I found it... I wanna say a friend linked me, or maybe it was a chance finding. I dunno, but I found myself not really amused by AVGN anymore, so I was thrilled to find Spoony.
  12. I specialize more in character art than actual design stuff. I'm not sure I could be much help to ya. You know what you want at this point? Or no? Or you found someone already? XD
  13. I have never played a Panzer Dragoon game. Evar. ~.~ So I'm not sure I'll be entering this one. I'll have to ask a friend about it, see if he's played it, get some information, see if any of the characters are particularly pretty, etc.
  14. Oo, I love Pavilion of Dorga and Une. The cymbal thing is kinda grating, to me. Tss tss tss tss tss tss tss tss tss... I like the beginning and the end, but everything in between doesn't deviate too much from the original. I think it'd be awesome if you explored a little more with it, but that's just me. And I can't really comment on the sounds of things since it's YouTube and they don't play stuff right anyhow.
  15. I kinda like this, actually... Overture from FF6 is great and can always use some lovin'. Overall, it's a little quiet for me? I understand it's probably supposed to be a quiet piece, it's just a personal pet peeve to listen to music comfortably at one volume, then bam, have to jack it up or down for another track. I really like this interpretation. I wouldn't mind a little more dramatic-ness thrown into it, particularly towards the end. More violins. More.. something? I'm not sure. And the piano end from 3:40 onwards didn't really work for me. Seemed out of place? It was like, it picked up, then died... I can't wait to see what you do with this.
  16. We await the delivery of young Pixicon eagerly.
  17. I love FFT music, so I second (third?) this! I also have some FFT remixes/arrangements on my computer from here: http://web.archive.org/web/20050503194438/63factory.jp/crystal/ Also from a few other places, possibly? I understand Japanese can be hard to navigate, however, so I'll upload the FFT arrangements I have. http://www.sendspace.com/file/lu9g3d - Antidote http://www.sendspace.com/file/dnir0o - Antipyretic (Liquid Trance Mix) http://www.sendspace.com/file/9ojptg - Antipyretic http://www.sendspace.com/file/y7k68m - Ramza (I forget what this was specifically) http://www.sendspace.com/file/03d9eo - Trisection http://www.sendspace.com/file/fyl8jd - Unavoidable Battle http://www.sendspace.com/file/knc78d - Moar Trisection~
  18. Hm. I have a couple arrangements from FFMQ, as a matter of fact. Two of the boss theme. They were entries in some... Crystal, Square Music Arrangement Festival. Site was in Japanese, therefore I don't know anything about it, aside it was a music compo for Square game music in a strange time signature. The site had a TON of gems from old school Square games but sadly I dunno where the site is. Anyhoozle, here's the two I have. http://www.sendspace.com/file/dplb9z http://www.sendspace.com/file/gorwz8 Hope you enjoy! Also, there's a pretty killer arrangement of the FFMQ battle music by Ashane out there. Dunno where off the top of my head though. Maybe someone else can link you? EDIT: A-ha! Here's the source! http://web.archive.org/web/20050503194438/63factory.jp/crystal/
  19. I'll bite! I peeked around and didn't see a request for this one already, but The Dark Spire for DS has some really awesome music, imo. I'm particularly partial to the 1st and 2nd floors music: But really, this album is full of gems. Mid-boss is another I am fond of:
  20. I don't have enough time to expand on my idea the way I really wanted to, but I still put something together I'm satisfied with! XD So yeah... A NEW CHALLENGER APPEARS!! *dramatic pose*
  21. It loops pretty nicely. It was doing that and I was just sitting here grooving not even realizing it was on eternal repeat. XD Catchy stuff here. And Mario coins are win.
  22. Ha! I just saw that yesterday. XD Spoony is great. <3
  23. I just read this thread and got like.. the best idea evar. I just hope I can draw it out in time. XD
  24. This looks like it's gonna be awesome!
