  1. Got the game today. Looking forward to trying it out. The two elements I'm most curious about right now is the training mode and the soundtrack. Hoping that the game packs a Soul Calibur IV-quality training mode in order for me to hone my skills. About the soundtrack, I'm wondering if the old characters/stages are remixes of the stuff from SFII or originals? Would be interesting to compare this OST with OCR's work in HD ReMix.
  2. I hear that the effectiveness of the filter depends on the game. Some games actually look worse with the filter on. Thinking of going for this collection, even though I own previous ones like both Sonic collections and the PS2 Sega Genesis Collection. I'm really disappointed that the latest rendition did not emulate the "lock-on" technology of Sonic & Knuckles. Really wanted to play Sonic 3 + Knuckles on an HDTV.
  3. The closet a game has ever affected me is Metal Gear Solid 4. I've played a lot of games with good stories, but MGS4 is in another league. There's a lot of real facts used throughout the series, but MGS4 actually scared the heck out of me with some of its stuff. Just research Private Military Companies. We live in one insane world indeed. Other than games, there's a documentary series that really affected the way I think about the world around us. It's similar to MGS4's general idea about how we're easily manipulated by super powers.
  4. I always skipped listening to this remix fully, opting for the more superior and far more epic "Beneath the Surface". I started giving it a chance recently, and the lyrics really surprised me. Hilarious stuff there. Didn't know that Larry did Funky's part there until I checked the lyrics. Goes without saying that the guitar is great stuff. Funky Monkey Love, indeed.
  5. http://www.ocremix.org/remix/OCR01242/ Vigilante's "Beneath the Surface". The most relaxing mix on the site EVER! http://www.ocremix.org/remix/OCR01700/ McVaffe's "Celestial Winds from the East". 2nd most relaxing mix on the site.
  6. Loving this even though I'm not that familiar with the source tunes. All over the place with styles and genres...yet still sounds surprisingly solid and cohesive. Organs sounds are shades of FF6's Dancing Mad. Love how synth-heavy this track sounds as well. Distorted samples kind of surprised me too. Piano playing make the track sound somber at times despite the overall 'grooviness'. Keep up the good work, man!
  7. Definitely with you there. Crisis Core has an AWESOME soundtrack. The Price of Freedom is my favorite track. Problem with the material is that there are a lot of similar tracks that use the same motifs thus making it harder to make a different remix.
  8. The Tales series is definitely great stuff. After all, if it weren't for Tales, we wouldn't have Star Ocean. Sadly, the only one I played was Symphonia which is one of my favorite RPGs of all time. The story started off as an FFX rip-off but throw me off mid-game. I have Legendia, Abyss, Vesperia, and Symphonia II but I haven't started on any of them yet. I've been thinking on giving Abyss a shot first 'cause I heard a lot of good stuff about it.
  9. I just noticed that this game has some awesome composers on board. Jun Senoue (Sound Director), Tommy Tallarico, and Richard Jacques. Now that's impressive.
  10. Cool Spot comes to mind. Don't know why. I'd like to see a souped up 2D version with Tallarico composing once again. Bonus stage had one hell of an addictive vibe. Earthworm Jim would be another game I'm looking forward to 'cause I've been a huge admirer of the original 2D ones. Good thing Atari and the character creator are working on a revival right now.
  11. Enjoyed the demo, but I'm skeptical of buying this game right now. Really don't feel like "trial and error" gameplay these days. I LOVE the theme song, though. More video games should have theme songs as addictive and radio friendly as this one. Pixietricks and zircon would do wonders with a remix of this.
  12. Really wish I can become a pro with Zangief. He's just so damn big and heavy, and his moves are hard to pull off on the fly. So when I pick him, all I do is try and rotate the pad 360 degrees in combination with a punch and kick hoping for a cool suplex to pop up. It's cheap...but it works and it's fun. Also, King DeDeDe from Brawl. Same problem as Zangief. Heavy and slow. But his moves are so powerful. I don't win as much when I pick him. My friend has the same problem when picking Ivy. She has some pretty good combos...but he just can't string them all together for a win. On that note...Taki and Ivy are so...distracting.
  13. Really enjoying the Private Action skits of First Departure. There's this one where the characters reenact Cinderella in Roddick's dream that I stumbled upon a few days back...it got HILARIOUS towards the end of it. I also heard that the character Welsh Venyard has some hilarious PAs, so I decided to boot Mavelle to recruit Welsh. I'm not disappointed thus far. She's a funny character. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Mw3snl6rPI&feature=related MAJOR SPOILERS for those who want to discover the Private Action I'm talking about by themselves. Youtube has everything indeed.
  14. The trailer seems to indicate that there are a lot of playable characters in the mix. Also, the recent IGN interview sounds promising. Turns out GameArts isn't the only developer for this game. A bulk of Team Ninja are helping out as well. Ubisoft really did a good job in getting these awesome teams under one roof. They also don't want this game to be a cheap Smash clone. I'm going to remain optimistic about this game. Can't wait for more details.
  15. Used to LOVE the energy behind the battle songs and how chilled-out the menu music is. Yeah...this site needs more LOD remixes.
  16. "Stands the test of time" "Time moves on from this project" "Where no project has gone before" I've got a million of 'em...NOT! This project will melt your faces off either way...whether your face melts away as the years pass by until its release or upon listening to its rock-bias once it's out...or both!
  17. So they're called Crytek UK now. With David Doak and Steve Ellis gone, it makes me wonder if this will significantly affect TimeSplitters 4. On the up side, Crytek will provide them with some good resources and vise versa.
  18. How many hours have you been playing? If you're early in the game, it'll seem slow and clunky for you 'cause you haven't learned any of the combat abilities yet. There are a couple of them which increase your combat skills, including blocking, counterattack, and rushing to monsters faster. So that's all your problems solved there. The more you put skill points on those, the more probable these combat skills are activated. Yeah, they're sort of random (and you seem to prefer them to be button-activated), but they add a lot to combat.
  19. SPOILER ALERT Gotta agree with you there. The ending was sort of open in the non-human side. Even in the scene after the collapsing tower that suggests that Jack and Ridley are still alive and all is well. Not sure whether the ending is different in the human side. Either way, I'd love to revisit this game someday 'cause how awesome it is. It took the recruitment concept from VP and made it really cool...just wish the other players were controllable. The story had a good mixture of humor and drama. And the music...wow...insanely good and jazzy. I think this is the only Tri-Ace game in which Sakuraba was not the composer...still though, Iwadare did an excellent job. Anyone notice the sweet Star Ocean 2 reference in Radiata, btw? EDIT: Valkyrie Profile DS is coming out sometime in March I believe. Some import impressions say that it's the weakest in the series, but still good all around. I'm definitely buying this one, even though I haven't even touched VP2 for the PS2 yet.
  20. For me, it's a combination of GOM Media Player and CCCP that contains Media Player Classic. I heard that CCCP is a clean install that contains everything that I need so I went with it. Regarding GOM, it has been a better experience for me than VLC 'cause it gives me fewer crashes. I don't know whether VLC has improved recently...haven't used it in a long while. I'd like to try Real Alternative and uninstall the useless Real Player from my laptop. I did try QuickTime Alternative for a bit but it had a few issues with me.
  21. Hell no! Tales = rock. On that note, let me join in the predictions. Worst case scenario: late 2009/early 2010. Best case scenario: April 2009.
  22. Yay! How exciting. Sad that a couple of them didn't really pursue this. Can't wait to listen to the final product, as this is going to be my first OCR credit ever despite being something minor. So that's something to check off my "to do before dying" list. Keep up the good work, OA and company.
  23. LOL. I think about half of this thread contains insane date estimates on this project's release. I'm really surprised on how hyped I am for this project. I'm not a huge Tales fan and the only one I've completed through the end is Symphonia. Lots of guitar bias here as well. LuIzA was kind enough to give me a sneak preview for her collab with CarboHydroM a year back...loving that track. Can't wait.
  24. Curious about something regarding the Fabul's Men Choir, OA. Are you using the initial voice auditions that some of us sent or have you revamped the concept completely since then? Just wondering 'cause I was one of the people who sent you some samples and hoping that they're still used.
  25. I need to play Infinite Undiscovery and check it out myself. I have it. Sounds like a very interesting game despite the negative criticism. Yeah. Sakuraba rocks indeed. There are some that may think that he overuses his motifs a bit too much that most of his music sounds the same...but that's what I like about him in my opinion. He's very versatile as well. He's orchestrated music sounds great, as evident in Eternal Sonata and Baten Kaitos. Yet when he goes all synthy with some battle themes I get all fuzzy inside. The work he does for the Tales series, however, is less captivating to my ears for some reason. Symphonia had a few good tracks, but not as great as Baten Kaitos, Valkyrie Profile, and Star Ocean. @ Makai Legend sys Yeah, gotta agree with you there. The pacing and plot are fairly stuck in the 16 bit era. The Item Creation gets a lot better as you move on and learn more abilities. I like the random and unpredictable nature of the results, but I kind of wish that the game displays various results and percentages for me before creating items. That way, you know what you're doing instead of randomly combining and creating stuff.
