Good, good. The better it is, the happier I'll be. Can't wait. -

On a related note, shouldn't The OneUp's Mario Kart album be out by now? A smell a delay. -
Enjoyed the revival! I wrote my full impressions in the VGDJ website. One suggestion that I just remembered to Brushfire: in "Game Flames", it would be cool if you can comment on the soundtrack of the game in question. I found your Red Faction thoughts to be very insightful but I was expecting a sentence or two about the soundtrack, which was composed by one of our community veterans Jake "virt" Kaufman.

New VGDJ Released (and YES ITS VGDJ) - pg 1 link
SwordBreaker replied to Brushfire's topic in General Discussion
Yeah...I thought of this as a "preview" episode of sorts after I read about the big announcement. I didn't mean to sound mean...and I'm definitely looking forward to more of his stuff. I'm just helping out so that he can do better in the future because he has a lot of potential. Brush definitely has a nice radio voice and sounds comfortable hosting, both of which are extremely important. In that light, the positives outweigh the negatives I mentioned in my previous post. -
Nice Marriage Andy & Jill! (Pics posted)
SwordBreaker replied to anosou's topic in General Discussion
Awesome albums, Jill. The wedding and honeymoon looked like a lot of fun for you both! With the wedding album I almost felt like I was there, musical performances aside. I like the fact that everyone looks really laid back in this big occasion. That hadoken picture is definitely priceless and DA's "observation" made me laugh indeed. IT would be sweet to see those videos. Take your time with them, though. Adjusting to everything is definitely a priority. BTW, both of you so look like your parents, particularly Andy's resemblance to his dad. -

Yeah, man. I know. Mentioned that in the last paragraph of my post. Plus, that funny skit in the end pretty much gave it away. -

So I just listened to this "debut" VGDJ episode of yours, Brush. You seem like a down-to-earth, enthusiastic, and likable guy...at least that's how I interpret your "radio persona". However, criticisms stick out more since there's no co-host(s) therefore no interaction whatsoever. Everything is straight-forward and non-spontaneous. I don't feel like you're speaking out to me, the listener. I commend how cool your radio voice is and how you try as much as possible to mix it up. But I still feel that most of what you're saying is scripted, despite the supposed script being well-written. I did like what you did in the remixing roulette section, having trouble pronouncing the names. Maybe commenting on some of the "remixer voice clips" sent to you after they're played will turn it up a notch (I found AnSo's to be funny at the end of it). Additionally, it doesn't help that you're reading DJP and Judges' comments word-for-word (at least that's what I think you did). It's better to quote them sparsely and summarize their thoughts in your own words. Finally, there were times when you really sped up your words, almost sounding like a Zero Punctuation review or something. I don't mind changing your tempo here and there since it is a radio show and all...but try not to eat up your words. No hating, man. I'd like to hear more of you and like Soundscape mentioned in the podcast, take these criticisms to heart. I think adding a co-host will eliminate most, if not all, of these problems. Having these spontaneous, on-the-spot moments are what make podcasts great in my opinion. I checked back a few posts and I was delighted to see zircon and pixie joining you...but that spoiled the hilarious skit at the end for me. Honestly, any co-host would've made this show much better...but I'd imagine having zircon and his wife is going to be uber-awesome. Can't wait to see what the future holds. Keep up the good work, man. -
OCR01893 - Mega Man 2 "Wily's Requiem"
SwordBreaker replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Great stuff. Nice tone and playing, man. Your take of Wily's track is unique since it doesn't follow the usual structure of other people who take on remixing it. The intro threw me off a bit along with that awesome slow part mid-track. The only ingredient that's missing in my opinion is a longer solo towards the end. No complaints though. I'll take what I can get. Keep up the good work, Nekofrog. Give us remixes from the Mega Man X series (coughseeremixrequeststhreadcough). BTW, Sixto had an awesome Wily track for Dwelling of Duels awhile back. Now, that should be submitted soon...makes a great track to accompany the recent two. -
Bad Dudes: Chronotorius (new album!) - Go buy it!
SwordBreaker replied to Bahamut's topic in General Discussion
Nice site, guys! Long overdue. Been listening to some of the previews...very, very tempted to buy this. Those tracks sound hot...and I see that Ailsean's here as well; haven't heard from him in a long while. It's just that I'm not a huge fan of CT so we'll see what happens. Either way, keep on doing what you're doing, people. I loved OneUps volume 2 and Bad Dudes kick ass. Speaking of which, this announcement made me visit your OUS site again...and much to my surprise I see that you guys are working on a Super Mario Kart album! Very, very cool. Loved those recording videos. I'm definitely going to be buying this! EDIT: Just pimped out this stuff: http://projectcoe.wordpress.com/2009/08/18/mario-kart-fan-made-music-album-heading-your-way-soon/ -
Call your song, "The Sudden Change of Perspective Just Made this Fight Epic!" Or "The Epic Change of Perspective" in short. Or if you want to be really cheeky, call it "Fight for Freedom (Copyrighted?)" or something of that sort.

Solid and surprisingly good. Of course, it's inspired by a lot of other games and mostly plays on automatic...but I'm willing to give the game the benefit of the doubt 'cause I enjoyed that demo. I had fun pulling off all those moves. It looks great graphically as well. Character models are really cool and the art design has a nice touch to it. I was especially surprised by Harley Quinn's realistic model...since we're all used to her cartoon one. Speaking of which, I'm glad they went with the Cartoon voices. Very nice voice acting, especially from Joker.

Yeah, man. Play around with it a bit more. No rush. More constructive feedback on your recent WIP will help a lot. But from my end, I think you're about done with this track. Good work in improving.

Huge fan of this series. Huge fan of Mr. Sakuraba's work as well. However, the third game was a stinker to me, which is why I'm not familiar with the source music. Just recently I've been listening to the game's soundtrack and stumbled upon this AWESOME track. I prefer the flute version but the original is quite relaxing as well. Would be great if anyone can whip up a remix of this baby. Thus far, DoD's thesamareye is the only one who dared to touch this source. http://dod.vgmix.com/past/nov07/05tie-thesamareaye,TheSPOB-SO3-Leaves-DoD.mp3 Of course, I'd love more Star Ocean remixes for OCR as well. Dale North's Rena and Hale-Bopp's Summertime are the only ones I loved so much. Would be great to see more tracks from SO2 and even the recent SO4 to get remixes. Lots of great music in those games.

Mega Man 2 - Coiled Copper Wire (Metal Man)
SwordBreaker replied to Level 99's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
Didn't expect a Metal Man remix in this style. As most of the listeners, I'm a sucker for acoustic guitar music and I'm loving this remix. Nice playing. Nice sounds. Love the change-up in tempo mid-track. All this needs is vocals and drumwork and you've got your next "Incubus - Drive"...although that'll defeat the purpose of keeping it acoustic only. -
Beastie Boys vs. Mega Man 3 - No Shadowman Til Brooklyn
SwordBreaker replied to zircon's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
Very nice flow there. A perfect match. Not familiar with that Beastie Boys song, which is why mash-ups like these are welcomed. Nice work, dude. -
Great stuff, man. The track is sounding better and better as you continue to tweak it to perfection. I can no longer listen to the muddiness that accompanied the guitars. I still don't like the sound of the synth used for 1:06. Kind of prefer the rough screechy one used in the intro and the rest of the track. Also, the sustained horn sample used after the track ends is a bit too long and basic. Shorten that a bit and fade out. BTW, try out OCRwip and see if the people there can give you even more feedback on technical stuff.

I found the tempo and style of your remix to be extremely similar, if not inspired by, a few of Crisis Core's tracks. "Dreams and Pride" and "Under the Apple Tree" in particular...which is not a bad thing in my opinion 'cause I'm a huge fan of Crisis Core's music. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3DfHyOj8wcU It's a very relaxing remix, so you nailed that part well. It just needs a gripping factor that'll hook me to listen to it. Additionally, that fast-tempo part towards the end doesn't seem to fit well at all.

I know that Another Soundscape mentioned that he'd like to make a remix of Twilight Street, but I'd like more people to try out these two tracks. I love Mitsuda's touch on those so much...I've been listening to these a lot lately and they just never get old. Since I'm kind of guitar biased, I'd prefer a Twilight Street remix to maintain the guitars of the original in some shape or form. As for Old Smudged Map, the style of AnSo's recent Jade Cocoon remix can work really well with that.
-
I agree with this. Awesome soundtrack and so underappreciated by remixers. Beatdrop is the only one who showed some love I believe. I'd also like more Crush Crawfish and Gravity Beetle remixes. Recently, M-H made an awesome rock remix of the latter in the recent Dwelling of Duels. http://dod.vgmix.com/past/2009-07-july/

http://newrpg.sega.jp/ Looks like a ship's steering wheel, don't you think? What else could it be? If it turns out to be a sequel to Skies come August 20th, a lot of fans are going to be happy.

Nice Marriage Andy & Jill! (Pics posted)
SwordBreaker replied to anosou's topic in General Discussion
Nice pics there. The place where the wedding is held is so amazing...the altar and indoors look really flashy. Great choice, Andy and Jill. Have fun in your honeymoon. -
I like that live band finish, dude. Not bad at all. The track sounds cleaner now. Keep cleaning it up as much as you can, man. Gario and Nase comments are really helpful in terms of mastering the track. Yeah...about the source, you should just put an estimate to see if you're on the right track. I feel that you need just a bit more source left and you're there...maybe include something during the live band finish or put more source in the middle of the track.
